Despite Russian drone attacks to hinder the shipment of Ukrainian grains of the 2023 harvest year, most got through.

The Black Sea Deal of 2022 with Russia over, Ukraine nevertheless was able to ship through the Danube River and finally through the Black Sea once again, but also by rail and road, to get most of its harvested grains to countries, which were counting on these products.

Whereas sales could have been a disaster for 2023, by Ukrainian ingenuity, most shipments were successful, I understand.  President Zelensky has come through for his people!

My room has an inoperative heating unit!

Just happened.

Will notify the management tomorrow.

12/30 11 AM

They fixed the heater in less than 1 hr. after they received my call.

Thanks, you guys!

The Western World stopped the genocide of the Jews; now genocide is being committed against the Palestinians of Gaza.

I can't believe the Christian world is not getting involved to stop the apparent genocide occurring in Gaza.

Mexico's doing very well; it's time to develop Central America.

There are a few new presidents in Central America--especially promising is the Guatemalan incoming President.

While migrants keep coming to the environs of the US, they could benefit from any new infrastructure that could be constructed in the Central American countries with US venture capitalist monies.  Once there is an abundance of workers in these countries, I believe investors will consider putting their money in making industrial meccas down there.

The real need is to develop programs to educate the thousands streaming toward the US now.

Tapachula, Mexico could be a mecca for developing Central America, possibly as far south as Panama--through Ms. Katherine Tai's office.

Central America is, importantly, situated to service supply chain ships and rail throughout the Americas.

My thoughts about the future of Central America to participate in trade and commerce connections near the US.

My health aide is doing just fine.

I want to make sure she stays in good standing, so as to continue to be a help to me.

But she may need help to withstand any criticism of her.

I've been in this business a long time!  Kinney, the nurse, is a friend.

Cordially

Biden's proposal to scale down the devastation seems reasonable; else to continue the War may prompt serious escalation!

How to convince the Israelis, the time for peaceful negotiations is now.

Vengeance will mean involving more nations in the region, it appears with proxies, etc. becoming part of the expansion.

I hope Israel will accept the two-state solution, that we hear Prime Minister will not; and that leaves only 22% of the historic Palestine as a Palestinian State.

The Arab League will participate in the committee overseeing the PLO: My understanding.

I have come away with the understanding that the formation of the administrative arm of the PLO  encompasses input of the Arab League, headed by the Saudis.

What I have gathered from talking with their people.

FYI

My opinion.

Migrants to the US make wonderful students to be trained in business, industry and government. Don't send them away...

FOR THE SAKE OF WORLD PEACE AND PROSPERITY!

They're here now, in hordes; and we have the educational institutions awaiting them!

P.S. The immigrants bring new ideas and methods, too.

Defense rests....

This is a great day for the United States Constitution: Colorado Supreme Court stands by the Fourteenth Amendment.

I understand many courts have not stood for the Fourteenth Amendment.  At least the language of the Fourteenth Amendment makes sense to me--a well-founded logical extension of its appearance as an Amendment to taking an Oath to the Constitution.

My opinion.  Good job, Colorado State Supreme Court!

"Independence" stuck for the former Russian satellites!

But I could see from my knowledge of the Russian attempts at Empire building that there was needed a safety valve whereby Russian intransigents, living in satellites could express Russian nostalgia.  That has broken out in Georgia and elsewhere at various times since the demise of the USSR.  So what?  Russians simply are expressing fond memories for what was and is no more, despite Putin's dreams of reviving the past--a favorite past time of Russian sympathizers for the good old days.

Anyway, now is the time to rebuild Ukraine, particularly modernizing Odessa, its major port city.  If a cease-fire could be arranged through NATO, that would be great, but the thing now is to rebuild the country as winter proceeds.

I agree with the MSNBC analysts, particularly, Haas: Zelensky has done marvelously; but Russia's aspirations do not disappear overnight.  And Putin is now in his Seventh Heaven: he's been loyal to his oligarch supporters.  A great future lies ahead for Central Asia, composed of independent states, maybe still with minor vestiges of Russians in pockets of the now free lands.

Carry on...Central Asia is doing well--after all you've been through!

Incidentally, I've always enjoyed, through the years since 1989,  following the adventures of these newly struggling independent states emerging to be each, their own viable country.

Who's supporting and encouraging Israeli troops to go on a killing spree?

I know the Biden Administration is protesting.  But is the Congress behind him; do they stand by our President in the face of Mr. Netanyahu's assurances of their just war--to be continued?

I am glad the Military is talking to the Israelis right now!

My opinion and hope someone can control Israeli retributive justice.

The Dubai Summit of Climate Change was headed by the oiler group of atmospheric polluters...

who seemed to be extolling the project of hauling the residue carbon from burning coal, etc. into bottomless pits where they will do no harm to the air nor to mankind.

The Chinese are pursuing the energy sources in natural wind and solar energy to limit carbon ever in the air, recognizing that today just a mite of the carbon is now stored from ethanol fermentation or as carbon dioxide in the ground, managed by forestry.

Both the United States and France are in nuclear energy usage--some 90 plants in the States.

Representatives of various companies were there to highlight advantages to one or the other method to supply electricity, critical for modern technological conveniences.

As long as Israeli troops are allowed to roam the Gaza Strip, disease appears to be overtaking the land.

It now appears only a peace force of the United Nations can drive the Israeli troops from the quest that is wreaking catastrophe to the people still alive among the ruins.

Might a United Nations police-force standing for the humanitarian cause take charge of the land in the name of saving lives?

Where are our religious leaders?

My opinion.

Ukraine's President Zelensky anticipating formal talks with EU toward entry into membership relation!

Hooray!  Since the 1990s, I'm aware there's been talk of a free and independent Ukraine's entry into the EU; and maybe this is the time.  President Zelensky is readying himself to speak in Brussels in the near future, I would think.

The point is, this long-awaited event of Ukraine's becoming part of the EU must be greeted with warm enthusiasm throughout Ukraine--it's been long in anticipation--perhaps, now!

Hang in there, President Zelensky; you're almost in "good hands!"

My opinion.

Under President Biden, the US economy is looking at a prosperous future.

I think nobody really understands "Bidenomics," yet the citizenry are coming to appreciate it means prosperity for all Americans in the immediate future.

I think the public knows what it means when the stock market jumps up to new levels.

Thank you, President Biden, for your team, especially for Ms. Yellen.

My opinion.

The Dubai Summit should have corralled all the oil and carbon people so they don't anymore rely on their government's subsidies and gifts!

Let's face it.  The oil magnates are all dependent on their government to support them.  They'd be already where they're about to go--searching for an industry to fashion as lucrative as the one they got now.

How about using new knowledge to produce hydrogen energy--the upcoming field in the next centuries that is in need of your oil background and expertise.  The Saudis are making the transition; and the others should follow suit.

My group has been assigned development of business in Central America.

I'm well into this project, despite the flack I get from Mexico.

The new President of Guatemala will be useful, and please make sure he's installed!  There's plenty of territorial envy arising.

Thanks, but what a great staff.  Vegas is pushing worldwide.

I'm hoping I've got back my health aide, who may turn out to be something more than that.

I'm well familiar with the immigration situation at the Southern Border, USA.

The situation is complicated.  An "Immigrant" status is like "foreign student" status in some ways.  They come here "by hook or by crook" and immediately, they start to learn American ways and know-how.  Above all, they are acquiring skills they likely would not have available to learn wherever they are coming from.

Now, investors of the West, including venture capitalists, are not likely to invest their monies to establish businesses that work with companies in advanced nations if the labor market of some foreign country they are thinking to invest in are not trained--not trained in computer usage, for example.  You say, the governments of these countries should educate their kids and young adults even mid-life laborers in modern technologies.  But in some countries, there's little emphasis on gaining book and trade knowledge; and so individuals educated on home soil are unable to benefit from their personal educative experience in their years of schooling to contemporary technologies.

However, there's a huge population in the world that are willing to "pick up and leave" for a time (unspecified length) and journey all the way to the United States.  To turn them away, is to reject them, in some profound sense, from the technological revolution, which has occurred only in the last 1 and a half Centuries-not a long time for the world to catch up.

But business and the move of time--right-into-the-future--can't wait.  These laborers need to learn the skills of modern business and industry so that they can be of use in business and industry now.  But investors are reluctant to put up the cash to provide enterprises, even governmental businesses, in order to take advantage of worker eagerness to participate that pay a living wage.

That's why advanced nations, the United States, have made it possible for the Chinese, coming here as students, and immigrants, including at the southern border of the country, to stay here and learn, and possibly, stay on to work for years to come.  Those that become trained and want to go elsewhere, do so.  Those immigrants, who, having been trained in technology, etc. may earn the privilege to live here.

Importantly, immigration status in the United States or foreign student status enables the individual so designated to learn modern techniques and become part of the new, revolution in knowledge and living the West offers through its educative systems.

My cursory explanation.

"And a female--wife; relative--shall lead children and spouse (and / or: all other adult males in their clan) to CHURCH/SYNAGOGUE/MOSQUE."

Today, women are more in attendance at religious meetings.  At least, so it would seem, because the male counterparts don't seem enthusiastic to attend on their own.  They have to be led...even as most men are led to the altar for marriage!

The men, and their progenies, are most likely to prefer watching a football game than to participate in prayer and meditation in a religious house of worship.

But they will listen to their womenfolk!--usually.

My opinion..

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has made an excellent pick.

I've watched the former Prime Minister David Cameron's appearances on US national TV this week--now he's in the Sunak administration; and I am impressed!

I perceive what may be a significant help to the team of democracy defenders Sunak brings, namely, in his wise selection of professionals to join.

A Summit on Climate Change is to start tomorrow convened in oil-rich United Arab Emirates.

The oil people think they can rid methane emissions, a greenhouse gas.  That should slow the rate of global warming, the analysts claim.

Additionally, the UAE is working on decarbonization to make carbon-free electricity.

I hope one of their schemes pays off to rid ourselves of industry's heavy dependency upon fossil-fuels.

My bewilderment over what they can do, while we know what they have done over the past century to get us with this problem of global warming!

My talks with Chinese in Chinatown, DC about the 2 countries--US and China--Presidents' recent meeting in US.

What was of major concern to them, was the emphasis President Xi placed upon continued mutual cooperation in the area of science for those Chinese scientists with the US scientists.  They are worried that China will lag behind the knowledge acquired heretofore in the realm of science, needful though it is in China, especially since the COVID-19 epidemic.

They talked about scientists from both countries learning from each other!

I believe they are simply expressing and acknowledging the West's advances in knowledge and practice of medicine, and affirm that scientists in China want to be involved in cooperative ventures.

My impression of their concern lest they fall behind.

It looks as if Spain is integral as Catalan independence is only an internal state of self-governance.

If there is to be yet another referendum for Catalan independence, the will of all voters in Spain shall comprise the determinant ballots cast.

And so, it looks like Catalan in Spain will have similar status as Quebec in Canada has.  And Spain's Constitutional guarantee of territorial integrity is reaffirmed.

My interpretation.

Autocracies want trained followers of their leaders in government!

For China, this idea is very old: and the idea: civil service examinations, or, keju.  In an article appearing in the Economist, November 18th issue, p. 36 the editors of the magazine indicate that those who do well in scoring on such tests may not be the material for innovation and change in a society.  For they are valued, simply because they can be replaced by other equally qualified candidates for civil service.  In essence, these test achievers make good followers and loyal subjects to their leader.  For they knew by doing well on the exam, they would likely be accepted for a position; and that henceforth, they were replaceable.

In a capitalist economy, the very ability to imagine change and the development of ideas is the stuff of innovation and human progress, so it is assumed.  And, its centuries has demonstrated remarkable human achievements toward the end of human development over time.

To get to an innovator's frame of mind, a person must take an idea he has and make it practical for use in the world of business and industry.  That is to say, his idea--as he conceives it, he offers to others to apply in their trade, thereby demonstrating its validity to the society.

A note: My health aide is having to take a vacation for a week!

She's off  Nov. 30-Dec 6.  LAST DAY TOMORROW.  first day back: Dec. 7th.  That's what I think!

But I'll be glad when she's returning!

She's been fantastic, so far!  (And, I keep teaching her!)

Opposition to Myanmar's junta occurring throughout the provinces.

It may not be unified enough to pose a threat to the military junta in control, but it is obviously a threat to the morale of the soldiers, some of whom have already gotten out: "conscripts are deserting," reports the Economist, November 18th issue, p. 33.

Its editors further urge the West to support the opposition, most of whom are in exile.

At the OLLI class on Islam, "why autocracies are doing so well" bantered around by us older students!

At an Olli  (OLLI=Osher Lifelong Learning) class on Islam, we got to talking about the popularity worldwide of autocratic governments as compared with democracies and came to the viewpoint that an autocracy permits citizens to party while monies of government are available for autocrats to do with them as they want--some of the money that would lift their citizenry in poverty above the poverty line.  Indeed, many Muslim countries are ruled by autocrats, and India, too.

The point of the "party" comment, sums up that  the citizenry aren't informed, usually, what their autocratic government does with all that money assigned to them.  They can do, even as President Putin has done with Russian governmental funds in his appropriating substantial sums to fight a war with Ukraine.

So long as they--the citizens in an autocracy--are kept in the dark what their government is doing, they've been given the freedom their ignorance implies to "eat, drink and be merry." essentially.

My interpretation of the "party" idea.

Reconstruction of Gaza Strip through the Arab League may be possible!

President Biden's administration should be able to work it out with the Saudis, I would think.

My analysis.

Wednesday, November 22, 2023

The Arab League has been in touch!

I suggest the League, with approval from the Biden Administration, send someone as advisor to the Palestinian administration in Gaza.  They are needing the assistance; and the League, I've been given to understand, will supply it as soon as it can be set up.

Thanks.

My understanding.

On PBS program "Amanpour & Co." former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert says the Israelis overwhelmingly call for the immediate resignation of the present Prime Minister of Israel.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should have resigned or have been asked to resign last October 8th; after Hamas' butchery, Mr. Ehud Olmert explained.

'The people of Israel want it!' the former Prime Minister continued.

Alas, the people of Israel are being heard, today, Mr. Olmert.  You said, "Immediately!"

My understanding of Mr. Olmert's position on whether the current Prime Minister should resign.

A people are resilient; and in the course of history, continue to be energized and renewed.

Those of other races and clans have a part in shaping a people's future.  These others are wise to get along peaceably with those who are their neighbors, irrespective of lineage.  Nevertheless, this is a hard teaching that when neighbors covet what another person has that is not his or hers, tensions take hold tight.

And then, trouble begins. And, someone must go elsewhere, empty-handed.

What I've learned through the years!

A record immigration number to rich countries was around 6.1 million last year!

Brutal conflicts the world over in Africa and the Middle East is certainly a driving force.  But the stability and order--governments insisting their citizens live by the rule of law--make leaving where they are and migrating clear across half the world.  And the poverty of their living conditions from whence they come in desperation!

Even though they--the migrants--may not stay in a rich country, they may be able to further their education and technical training to take with them wherever they end up with a permanent address!

My thought.

Japan joins with the Philippines to stave off Chinese Pressures on them!

The Economist is reporting that Japan and the Philippines, longtime friends, are joining together to resist Chinese pressure to join a Chinese-sponsored group of nations known as "First Island Chain."  That in addition to the occasional skirmishes in the East China Sea of each of their country's ships with Chinese vessels.

That is all!  My opinion.

Are there too many property salespersons in US?

The Economist thinks there may be too many salespersons in the property selling field.  And, they suspect they're charging too much commission, some 5%-6%.  The magazine editors want them to reduce their commission rates.  (The Economist, November 11, 2023, p. 15).  Listening to CNN just now, the interest rate on 30-year mortgages may be approaching 8%!

One would think competition would solve the problem of too many salespersons!

My opinion.

What a lot of Propaganda the Israeli Ambassador on ABC---Sunday Morning News Show--is spewing out!

Importantly, our President Biden recently has made clear several times to the Israeli leaders in government not to make the same mistake we have made in attempting to rid an enemy opponent in war of "any left" members of their military.

I think our President may have had in mind how hard, even after a government was set up in Iraq--to rid the country of their former soldiers and their sympathizers.

Yet, we went ahead toward recognizing the new government after "shock and awe."

It may be, that after the campaign to wipe the Hamas off the face of this earth, there may be active cells able to function as if in war.  I don't know, and neither does the Ambassador from Israel.

My opinion.

Tensions over Palestinian treatment in Gaza demands humanitarian haste! Building hatred all over the Middle East!

Somebody--some UN agency with United States assistance--is needed to stop Israeli bombing.  The world will enter hostilities to be endured for centuries, if something isn't done now on behalf of human treatment of the Palestinians.  The tensions are building.

Awake, Arab League to save your people!  This demands action of compassion, else the tensions will be lasting for some time.  Above all, the bombing of the Palestinians demands immediate attention.

In my opinion, the Israelis are uncontrolled and are close to sheer exhaustion.

The world cannot take much more of this hostility-aggression, in my opinion, without suffering lasting scars for centuries to come.  Action by the Arab League, I suggest.

My opinion.

New batch of weapons and artillery for Ukraine stalled in the House of Representatives

Everybody seems ready to concede that the House of Representatives is in no organized state to pass on a bill that will release what Ukraine is in need of by way of weaponry and artillery to withstand the near-nightly onslaught from Russia of aircraft and drones bombarding its cities, especially, the Black Sea ports.

Worse yet, the federal government may have to shut down some of its important operations come the 17th of November, or thereabouts.

Meanwhile, President Biden tries to do an admirable job of leading this country through a series of proxy battles, jeopardizing the cause of freedom and independence of Ukraine and the security of the Israeli citizenry--so far.  Not to mention the skirmishes with the US military, apparently conducted by Iran, in Syria and Iraq.

President of Senegal, Mr. Macky Sall, says ECOWAS is not able to prevent the rise of Jihadism in West Africa.

In what has been termed, Africa's coup-belt, the governments of these several nations are being overrun by Jihadists associated with al-Qaeda and the Islamic State, claims Senegal's President in a forthright interview appearing in the Economist, October 28 issue, p. 43.

He places his faith in the UN forces to push back on these Muslim extremists.  Certainly, ECOWAS as a organization of trading partners is not equipped to have an effect on Muslim aggression.

Mr. Sall is up for re-election in this African bastion of democratic values in February.

Russia is moving in to this region of Africa, probably because of its uranium reserves as well as other minerals that it may be searching for.  The United States military has been moderately successful in bringing a semblance of stability to Somalia.  Perhaps, the African Union might call upon them for help against the Jihadist rebels.

But these military coups in West Africa bespeak the work of Muslim extremists, too.

My opinion.

Lithium, needed in batteries for car, home, industry? Hard to get? How about using salt!

Industry must always have substitutes for a popular alkali metal.  It's in heavy demand, usually.  So if not available, scientists are hoping to turn to salt as a substitute.

And salt is in abundance, not just in China, importantly.

Incidentally, lithium batteries also use nickel, another ingredient in short supply worldwide.  Sodium batteries rely on electrodes of iron and manganese and are cheaper.

My thought.

The Greatness of the United States--in working within cooperative alliances it sponsors.

Above all, this assures a useful place for nations with few advantages at their disposal, but want to be up-to-date in technology and involved in business trade universally; so that their labor force can compete.  True, the nations with little advantages must watch their every penny, as if they would actually do so!

Look how NATO serves as a paradigm for a protective national alliance.

Working with other nations in an alliance mold enables the US to serve as a training grounds for labor around the world.  An outstanding service to the world.

You say, why does America admit so many migrants from other countries?  Why? To involve them in an exemplar of a trained labor force ready to serve advanced industries and businesses.  Further, we sponsor innovation; new ideas' ways of doing things elsewhere on the planet.

And then, some who come to our shores will go elsewhere; and some will stay in the US or its environs.  But we endeavor to train them well, so that they will have a good life and disseminate new ways of doing things, the more advanced ways.

My opinion.

Somebody's got to harnass the Israelis==they're after Hamas hospitals again...three of them.

I just was awakened.  Australia's navy needs the Army Corps of Engineers' training or Australian lands will be inundated with water by the turn of the century.  Also, the Pacific Islands are needing their expertise.

But right now the Israeli military is going crazy, in my opinion, attacking Gazan hospitals that are still operative.  Can the Israeli military please stop this vengeance and lead the way to the negotiating table?

BBC intervention woke me up. Glad to help.

To: Gov. Wes Moore of Maryland, Congrads for winning new FBI Headquarters in Greenbelt, Md.

It's hard to realize how the FBI keeps growing, internationally and states-wide.

I hope in Greenbelt, Md., there plenty of room for FBI expansion--buildings and more buildings, that is.

Congratulations to the state and to the US nation for this magnificent international institution of the States.

May its philosophy and cause for justice emanate the world.

My thoughts go with you for an even greater impact in years to come.

I wonder: 1. What Secretary Blinken heard President Erdogan told him about Israeli's treatment of the Palestinians these many years!

And I wonder what kind of treatment the Palestinians will receive once the Israelis set up an administrative unit(s) for them in Gaza and the West Bank.

Probably, this is what the right-wing Israelis wanted all along these many years: 2.  Get rid of the Islamic element on Israeli reclaimed lands.

For a month of war, there has been no humanitarian pause; no humanitarian ceasefire--no let up on the barrage of firepower and bombing into Gaza.  And children are in harm's way!

My opinion.

President Erdogan sends his best wishes!

I understand that the Palestinian Authority, Mr. Abbas' office, has been in touch with President Erdogan of Turkey.

I am given to understand he can help President Biden in setting up the new Gazan-West Bank Palestinian government.

I just received assurances from the Arab League, with whom I am scheduling Islamic talks.

US military efforts to oppose Jihadists are very effective.  A tribute to the US.

Senator Bernie Sanders' wonderful ideas on "State of the Union," today"

There's two important things the Senator recommends:

1.  Supply hope to Palestinian youth of Gaza and the West Bank for jobs, their own state; "a place in the sun" (to use a near-forgotten cliche in another war)!  There, they stand around; picking up stones and letting them fall to earth.  They are languishing in rubble, wasting their time.

2.  The Arab League should entertain a request on behalf of remaking the Gaza Strip to contribute to helping the humanitarian situation--above all, for supplies of disparately needed food fuel water; and to relieve the hostage condition that's been allowed to continue because of Hamas' pride in their surprise raid into Israel on October 7.  They have had their symbol of being held prisoners by Israel for years, in land, sea and air.  Israel must take responsibility for attempting to pound the Palestinians into submission, under Israeli control.  Outrageous.

Anyway, it seems that President Biden's effort to contain the war between Hamas and Israel has taken hold.  Iran may be heeding.

My opinion.

Now, Palestinians who live in the West Bank are being forced out! Horrendous bombing overnight in Gazan territories.

Secretary Blinken has his work cut out for him, as he talks with Mr. Abbas of the Palestinian Authority today.

More, ethnic cleansing taking place, this time in the West Bank.

The TV is carrying the "eviction"--our Secretary of State doing what he can.  I hope he brought with him as consoling group to bolster his spirits on this sad note.

My opinion.

I was living here rent-free for 6 months.

I am encountering some difficulty in meeting all the needs I have without dipping into the reserve I been given.

Any chance I could live rent-free here?  That is my dream, anyway.  It worked out fine for the six months I was granted it.

So far things are going smoothly for me.  Remarkable!

President Biden is conveying to the Israelis the importance of conducting a modern warfare campaign!

Unfortunately, Israel is failing to heed the cries of professional soldiery about conducting a modern war campaign.  They are back in the days of yore where "an eye for an eye; a tooth for a tooth,"  i.e., when the principle of revenge was a soldier's mission.

But maybe the Israelis can harken to President Biden's wise words so to reorient themselves to the modern  priorities that emphasize concern to preserve human life.

My opinion.

CNN reporting scientists regard the earth entering an emergency state of climate change--temp rising much faster, hot water of Caribbean causing problems for US.

CNN is just now on TV reporting of a new study that confirms what seems is becoming the knowledgeable consensus:  we're in for disaster in the 2020s, if something isn't done right away!

They recommend what I have been told by scientists: nuclear power must be used extensively as a source of energy along with wind and solar.   New advances in nuclear!!!

What is needed now is a commitment to develop nuclear fast.  The reason is that thinking solar and wind is ok is sheer pie-in-the-sky, so to speak.

Here's a definitive recommendation over CNN to go nuclear.  It will turn out to be the planet's savior--maybe!  It's not all that dangerous, if set up properly, so I've been told.  But I only can pass on what authorities in the field are advocating.  And they say, depend in final analysis, on Nuclear!

My reporting.

The West should help Israel find an administration for Gaza; then to include the West Bank.

I suggest the President of Turkey, a devout Muslim, to locate a group.  I'm sure he'd jump at the chance.

My suggestion' but I know that he's influential; and there are important changes upcoming in Islam.

Just a suggestion!  Thanks!

After listening to the former Prime Minister of Israel, Mr. E. Olmert, the priority concern of the Israeli Government right now is to eradicate Hamas.

The UN's major concern is to protect the lives of the Palestinians and to assure their children will survive the War.  The US under President Biden's leadership is urging the Israeli Government to aim at preserving life of those caught in the web woven by the Israeli troops.

Meantime, the Israeli government has received communications from NGO groups in Gaza, that aid to those in need is a trickle of what it should be.  Time is of the\essence, if the Palestinians will be enabled to survive.  But the Israeli Government's major object in its war plans is to inflict retributive justice; and thus condemn the Hamas.  Their goal is unitary: wipe the Hamas off the face of the earth!

Accordingly, those who call for a difference in the priority of war objectives of the Israeli leadership appear to me to be right in altering immediate battle strategy.  I urge, along with the UN, an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.  And I refer to today's NBC "Amanpour" Program, the former Prime Minister's serious statement implying that the present leadership has the wrong set of priorities among its war objectives.

My opinion.

Sunday, October 29, 2023

Thanks again!

You guys are brilliant when I need you most!

Thanks.

Evidently, Prime Minister Netanyahu believes he is acting on God's behalf!

For God has said, "Vengeance is Mine."

The UN agencies, some 5 of them, has called for a humanitarian ceasefire.  Likely, President Biden in private conversations with the Israeli Prime Minister, has suggested the same to him.

There can be only one reason why the Prime Minister insists for a long war without much chance for innocent Gazans to survive.

Then, could the Israelis show through their demonstrations of concern for human life of those caught in virtually a prison encampment of the Gaza Strip?

Climate Change Effects taken as they come upon us!

It looks like no country--well, further along is China--opts to installing wind and solar sources of energy without their people experiencing pain.

But countries must, painstakingly. determine for themselves how much they can do to withstand the devastation or to correct the infrastructure problems caused by climate changes, as high winds for multiple days bringing pounding rains onto their shores and over their land plateaus--storms twice the size of those witnessed heretofore, now with greater frequency.

Decarbonizing the atmosphere, going green, will proceed from correcting one disaster on the planet to the next.  And meanwhile, adjusting to green energy sources over time in accord with their budgetary practicalities.

Thus, UK's Prime Minister Sunak is delaying in England the sale of electric cars.  Similarly, there's leaders in France who are favor of slowing down the entire project of turning to the new sources of energy for electric vehicles.

But few countries refuse to decarbonize.  So, it's merely questions of when, how long will it take; and how disruptive a procedure will we have to undergo?

My opinion.

Federal government has adopted the policy of "meshing national security and economic policy"

Economics October 7 issue, special report p.4.

The policy is called by some "de-risking":  Keeping the good practices of globalization and adding the Administration's concern for the security of US manufacturing methods.

No longer are the nation's strategic industries coal and steel but "computer chips, electric vehicles and AI."  Climate Change is making this statement emphatically!

My opinion.

Ukrainians have shipped some of its harvested grain from Odessa.

They have kept cargo ships close to shore near Romania territory, a NATO member, hoping they won't be attacked by Russia.  The Ukrainians are also shipping via the Danube River, I understand.

Anyway, Ukraine is trying its best to ship its harvested grains over to the African poor.

My opinion.

Already noted: African nations turning their backs on democracy.

It's so obvious: the reason--you need some education, at least, in order to make it work for you, the citizen.

Another way of putting it: the "democracies" established in African countries are in name only.   Mauritius is acknowledged as about the sole one that qualifies for the title.

Kenya is close and Zambia.

What replaces some are military juntas like the one in Asia, Mayanmar (formerly, Burma).

Many Americans are dissatisfied, according to the Economist, October 7th issue, p.10.  I think that's why former President Trump is still popular, because he wants an autocracy, it would seem.

My opinion.

Good News! Bidenomics is already working!

The major feature: AI technology.  The worker is in charge  and automated robots are his and her helpers!  Management is the product designer.  All done by American companies using American and international manufacturing technologies, distributed through centers here and internationally.

These are not political promises; it's happening right now with manufacturing American companies aided by boosts from government in the form of subsidies and tax breaks altogether--dedicated to make America a booming industrial mecca for exporting, but meeting import demands, too.

The show already started last November with brand new AI platform systems.  We're waiting for Congress budgetary input, I understand.

My opinion

What we're seeimg happening the world over is an attempt to return to tribalism. The tendency must be fought and resisted!

United States is backing Israel, which it of course must do.

But that is reinforcing Jews to seek out their own.  We see it at work in Central Asia, where Armenians are being forced out after decades of peaceful coexistence with their neighbors.

It is good that the EU countries have accepted so many refugees fleeing Ukrainian battles.  They serve as a model of integration of peoples of different cultures.  The United States, too.

But the tendency towards protectionism must be withstood; and the peoples of the world need to rely on one another for the sake of the planet's stability and acceptance of change, a condition that can lead to world prosperity, if we work together through supply chains!

My opinion.

It looks like the Palestinians may lose housing, and living on the Gaza Strip!

Hamas fighting nets losing domicile on the valuable piece of land, viz., their living in Gaza City and environs.  Likely, the Palestinians of Gaza will no longer want Hamas in charge of their welfare.

It is sad: so many lives have been extinguished--both Israelis and Palestinians.

Probably, the Israelis will settle in Gaza as well as the in the entire West Bank region.

Will the displaced Palestinians find refuge in nearby Muslim countries?  Jordan is probably laden with the numbers of Palestinians there already.  Syria has so many immigrant camps.  Where will the migrants of this Palestine displacement be accepted?  Teems of human beings from Gaza seeking already to leave for good but they are not allowed out.

And where would migrating Palestinians of Gaza go?  And more urgent, when will they be allowed out from the ruins of Gaza?  JUST TO GET AWAY, FAST!

My opinion.

I'm trying to hold on to my health aide!

We're back fighting with her contract organization about the hours!  They don't want to pay!

I'm trying to keep a low profile.  The future plans for me that I've heard I'd be most thankful for.

We're scheduled to meet with her health agency tomorrow.  Anything you can do.

Appreciative.  I enjoy my being involved in the country's future.

Institutions have interpersonal goals and international interests; autocracies don't make institutional goals paramount.

All individuals are entitled to their private lives.  But autocracies make no distinction from public and private--so others must make autocracies' personal goals those of all.  Even more destructive of society, it intermixes tribal, cultural and the personal ambitions with the purposes and needs of institutions, demanding attention to them all as directed by leadership.

That is to say, ultimately, society must rise above any autocratic regime through disassociation by force, if necessary, the institutional interests from the autocratic whims of the government of the person, X.  Yet under democracies, this disassociation is unnecessary, since elections are periodically required in a democracy, in which the will of the people dictates, rather than awaiting for a series of announcements by governmental authorities setting priorities upon his or her governed, the people.

All this is to say, a leader has a private life, involving personal character and interests.  And that is to say, the leader is a human being, not an institution!  Intertwining the two types of concerns, makes society into a mirror of personal human pursuits and longer-lasting institutional goals indistinguishable from one another.  The leader is thus not a godlike leader of his nation, that lasts long after he no longer is leading  it.

My opinion.

As West business goes into Asian markets, investor activism is likely to increase.

There's a notable difference between investors in the West as compared to those in Asia.  This differential feature is discussed in the Economist, September 2nd issue, pp. 55-56.

Traditionally, businesses in the East aren't subjected to investor demands at board meetings and public forums.  And, it may well be that investor activism is still a phenomenon in the East of minor significance. But there are figures on p. 55 that there is an ever-growing number, and may increase even now in Hong Kong and Singapore, where contact with the West is an everyday occurrence.  The magazine observes, in Japan the number of demands is indeed a surprise.

I know American business and hence firmly believe that investors from the West are likely to pepper corporate with their demands, should their influence become common place in board rooms in the East.  So, I am looking to changes in the composition of board members and more turnovers in corporate administrators.  We'll see....

Secretary Yellen's talk yesterday highlighted one of President Biden's important achievements in foreign policy.

/President Biden sought and got the NATO Alliance in readiness as the West's Response to President Putin's aggression into Ukraine.  What a fantastic achievement to mobilize our Western nations in support of President Zelensky's call for help.

It will truly go down in history as an inspiring moment that has mobilized the Free World to sustain its freedom and to withstand tyranny against humanity.

Thank you, Mr. President.  And thank you, Secretary Yellen for drawing our attention to history in the making.  (I know, the sanctions against Russia are working.)

Citizens of the poor countries are becoming savvy citizens of the world!

The Economist in a revealing item entitled "How paranoid nationalism corrupts" seems, to my mind, to have captured the frustrating malaise citizens in poverty feel about their government and their country.  It's just, no matter who takes over in their country, it's more of the same.  The frustration they feel is due to the rampant condition the editors call "paranoid nationalism."  See Economist, September 2nd, 2023 issue, p. 8.

The paradigm of the current government of Nicaragua is amplified herein.  Daniel Ortega, President, has roots in the country.  He claims the enemy of his people are "agents of the Yankee empire," so it's safe for them to be among their Latino neighbors, far away from the boogey man.  Now what he offers is just about what his brother had offered Nicaraguans when he was in power as the country's President: The idea is, you know what you're getting in the way of assistance and services of your government, because the guy last in power is doing much the same that this one called President is offering you!  What can you do to change things--it's just the way Nicaraguans have to accept in life!  So the citizen knows that things are just like they've always been.  No sense to want something better; 'cause that's just unrealistic and un-Nicaraguan.

Now for some citizens that's all they know to expect in life.  And, there's an inkling of satisfaction that things don't get any worse.  They have food on the table, and shelter from the rains; and whatever you call the way they make a living.

But for some citizens, they get anxious when they drink; and bored when they are tired of it all.  They're the ones that take to the boats to clear out.  For them, anything's better than what is theirs and everybody else's.  Perhaps, they're motivated to move on by some unpleasant disturbance or condition they're facing and want to get away from reminders.  So what they get in their mind to do but to head out for America--the United States.  Whether they're leaving Nicaragua or some such place on earth, they have a dream--of being on the Streets in New York City!

In that mood of ecstasy, they pack and get out on foot, losing as they go their paranoid nationalism as they trod over the lands which comprise their journey till at last they arrive at the US southern border.

Cars are going electric: Now, we need a solid-state light-weight battery!

The Economist has devoted much space in its "Science and Technology" section to a progress report on where industry stands in developing for the electric car a suitable solid-state battery (see August 26 issue, pp. 67ff).  And, they show, it's coming along.

First, the car manufacturers will receive and test candidates; second, the cost of the one or so that fits the bill will no doubt need to come down.  Everything just as fast as possible!

And then, they're off!!

West African countries ruled by military.

The military of a country is more like the police than that of a town mayor or provincial governor!  What particular expertise or training do military personnel bring dealing with the public?

Nevertheless, in West Africa, most recently, Niger has just been taken over by a military junta.   Be it known, that the other 3 governments also have a strong military say in government, I understand.

In a recent public opinion questionnaire, the populace of the region thought more highly of Russia than of the United States!  Are they serious?

My opinion.

Spain is now tolerant of native languages in the provinces and in Parliament.

Talk of provinces becoming independent of Spain has simmered down apparently because Spain is now accepting of the local dialects, particularly, Basque, Catalan, and Galician.

Interesting, that the Russian satellites went for independence of their nation, because, significantly, their native language of the individual states seemed essential to preserve.  And, apparently, they, of the region but not Russian, did not want to speak Russian instead of their own native language!

My opinion.

Win one for Democracy in Guatemala!

There's a reformer in them there hills of Guatemala.  Mr. Arevalo claims his administration will not tolerate corruption!  Bravo.

Lost Thailand to a continuance of the military rule in some form; but in Guatemala, a refreshing democratic won.

Good show!

My opinion.

President Zelensky shows he hasn't forgotten the Crimea!

I understand Crimea is used as a supplies storage area of the Russians.

I am glad to see President Zelensky is pounding the supply depots of the Russians, wherever.

Great work!

My opinion.

BBC just showed on TV the devastation wrought by a Russian projectile in a downtown Ukrainian City--17 killed just moments ago.

A soldier explained, there's no day that the Russians don't unleash explosives in our towns.

And who is visiting from the United States at this time of sorrow is Secretary of State Antony Blinken, standing on Ukrainian soil next to a Ukrainian!  He's in the capital city coming to announce yet another    $ 1 billion dollars in aid and military weaponry.  Oh yes, we may send some older versions of a missile, but the Ukrainian military are innovative and come up with their own versions of our advanced weaponry, which they are quick to point out, they use: the latest AI tech to spot the enemy and flush him out.

Secretary Blinken observed that we've sent over $400 billion in military equipment and accessories.  But what is even more, since the war, we've brought American love and concern for Ukrainians to their land--our true friendship for them, who have sacrificed so much.  Together we stand, "side by side with them."  We know what inspires them from within their souls, for it lies within us, too: it's the longing to be forever free.  God bless.

Indonesian Muslims seek to promulgate only Muslim practices and beliefs with universal appeal.

In an apparent attempt to modernize and streamline their religious faith, Muslims in Indonesia of the Nu sect--and Muslims are the largest religious majority in the country--have decried specific tenets held by traditional Muslims (as reported in the Economist, August 19th issue, p. 32):

1.  Abandoned the notion of the caliphate vs. a secular government.

2.  Allows religious freedom in their country.

Their women already are permitted to wear Western dress, I take it.  But if they would already argue for women clergy, that would nearly bring them up to speed where Christian women are.

Decoupling advanced tech from shared methods and techniques turns off investors from the West in Chinese companies

Just like COVID-19 vaccinees from the States were retained among patents of the West pharmaceutical makers, it seems their patents mean they will not be sharing their advanced computer AI technology with China and Asian countries aligned with it.

Already, the Chinese youth are reported to have become disillusioned at the prospect of advancing in the medical or computer fields due to the vast number of regulations permeating these fields as China is being shut out of Western advances through the decoupling of the most modern techniques in these fields--East being kept in the dark of West methodologies.  Specifically, these youths in China don't see their being able to significantly contribute in either of these two professions, given governmental strictures placed upon the sharing information about the most advanced methods being developed, particularly from the West.

My viewpoint.

There's a telling argument for wanting GLOBALIZATION to work worldwide!

I'm sure we've all heard the pros and cons for globalization ad nauseam.  But the one I've found to tip the scale to being pro-Globalization is above all else, globalization promotes peace in the world; especially among business, and financiers doing trade deals.

The intellectual community today is discussing seriously the prospect of war between the United States and China.  When I hear the arguments on one side or another, and then I'm asked what I think, I say to anyone that really wants to know what I think--I tell them--"The prospects for a war are low, in my opinion, each side would have too much to lose, we're both so interconnected in business and trade."

Now to some my retort is not all that convincing.  But I still can argue that major changes would have to be made as cataclysmic as we're living through confronted with climate change!

The arguer rests.

I am requesting my current health aide be continued into the future!

Her nickname is "Diga."

One of the most outstanding qualities is her ability to work as a team member with medical professionals--doctors and nurses; and also to attend to my mental acumen and ability to remain calm and focused on my projects--as I become involved in behalf of the US government.  That is, she does what is needed in order to bolster my mental and physical capabilities so to help on the projects given me.

And, since I am in old age, I am aware of her attention to enhance my efforts to stay dedicated to make significant contribution toward the record of my team in achievements toward the goals of the United States.

I am most grateful for her care of me as my health aide.

Computer-Aided Design Systems are revolutionizing US factories.

--Making robots the builders or constructors of the products produced in the factory!

CAD systems have been around for decades but they are now a focal center of mass produced factory items!

There's a good overview of their role in manufacturing in the future in the Economist August 12th issue, pp. 63ff.  Now you know (and so do I) why it was important to retool our manufacturing gear by sending a chunk of manufacturing paraphernalia overseas.

A Remarkable Win in Guatemala for Democracy--in our Hemisphere.

Mr. Arevalo, a campaigner for anti-corruption government won by 59% of the popular vote for President of the country!  Congratulations.

What with so much heavy duty drugs affecting the conduct of politics both in Latin America and the Northern Hemisphere, it is refreshing to see signs of a return to democracy: Lulu winning in Brazil and now Arevalo in Guatemala.

We're so lucky living in the United States under a democratic form of government.  Would that we could spread the word that democracy is more human, less given to degrading the human spirit, than autocracy, which I note the former President Trump wishes to install here, should he become President in the election of 2024.  "Perish the thought!"

My opinion.

Worldwide values study shows Americans and Europeans promote democracy, individualism .

The  Economist cites a recent values worldwide study done by the Inglehart group of Michigan showed that the Europeans and Americans are highly individualistic and secular; and importantly, "Traditional values seem to be more associated with autocracies; one-person-one-vote systems embody individualistic values." (p. 49 of August 12th issue, 2023)

I believe this culture is moving us into the "brave. new world!"

But I further believe we tend to lose sight of the vastness of the universe in which we are contained and exist.  We are coming to know its principles as we send spaceships 'out there.'

My opinion and impression.

Some returned POW Ukrainians want to fight on!

I have been watching the returned Ukrainian POWs from Russian prisoner war camps relate their abusive captors' treatment of them, including the proverbial shock treatments.

Nevertheless, there were those among them who are preparing themselves to go back into battle.  They know what they were fighting for: the freedom of the human spirit.

The Economist has in the August 12th issue a reasoned defense against those pursuing an authoritarian ruler and his band of wealthy benefactors--all in government and other high places--to get what they can and charge it up to the little guys and gals complaining that they've been gypped.

The best defense against authoritarianism is simply to exhibit the human being, pursuing his longing to be himself, an experience ingrained within our very being; vs. the caricature expression of an obedient humanoid, computer created through Artificial Intelligence.  For it is natural that the human crave his freedom to be himself in what he does, not be obsequious like an automaton.

My opinion.

Russia will be putting the Wagner Group on its waters, soon.  To see if they float.

Hope your grain mostly is getting through.  Africa in need, desperately.

I don't believe the central operational data centers have been selected for AI development yet.

I have listened to some of the discussions in Congress about AI development and the guidelines they wish to impose on AI development.  Just like Silicon Valley was chosen for the initial stages of Internet development, so there are certain places where AI development will transpire.  I am certain that the US participation in its development marks one major place that will be chosen where those concerns will be transmitted and followed accordingly.

But AI development is occurring around the world; and no government is in charge of it, I don't think.  Anyway, I know the US military will be involved in the process; and their contributions are essential but will likely remain confidential and/or classified.

I need not reiterate what is obvious to the computer community:  this is a major step toward peace and stability in the world.

My opinion.

Agriculture moving away from animal products to food from microbes.

Some farmers in Finland and Singapore, always concerned about land usage, are experimenting in alternatives to animal-based foods, which according to the Economist (July 22nd issue, p. 29)  are responsible for emitting methane into the environment, a strong gas that contributes to climate change.

If this project to utilize alternatives to animal products proves viable, at some time in the future we may depend less on animals for our protein.  I would imagine, the task for chemists is to make the substitute as tasty as animal meat.

Does any innovative genius have an idea to replace plastic utility bags? For the garbage!

We're in disparate need of garbage retainer bags to throw into the incinerator or onto the beaches.  Plastic lasts for hundreds of years and would desecrate the oceanic shorelines.  Anyone with an idea?

If so, contact your local venture capitalist.  The need is pressing, NOW (as the announcement of bus and trains might read).

Suggestion: Treated paper?

Thanks in advance.

The Gaza Hamas have promise.

I know the Hamas group and believe them to be useful to the Palestinian cause.

I think there are overwhelming problems with the current P,M. of Israel.--and I have Jewish contacts around.  To my mind, he's being controlled.

CNN and others are reporting outstanding results toward disabling the Russian naval fleet in the Black Sea!

Who would have thought this little band of believers in democracy could swerve off course a Russian flotilla!

Impressive penetration into a fighting Russian force by Ukraine.

From Ukrainians we anticipate nothing less than an ingenious effort in the conduct of its war for independence.

My opinion.

DW news is reporting the Nigerien military junta wants elections to be held.

Evidently claiming interference by foreign powers in the last election, the military junta is wanting to hold new elections.  But a watch group that appeared on the news program questioned whether it is sincere, especially since indications are it wants to hold off the election it will schedule for more than a year!

Could the African Union work with them to see what is their reluctance in proceeding with a democratic process?  Perhaps, even help supervise such an event?

Just a suggestion.

My opinion.

The response to Robert Burns: "Pray that a little luck will be on your side."

Robert Burns is attributed with the saying, "The Best Laid Plans of Mice and Men Go Awry."

I want to add to it, "Pray that a little luck will be on your side to win."

We're just human beings; and we humans are built "imperfectedly."  Call it "luck"; call it "The Work of God"==we know our imperfections.  BUT WE TRY! (AND, we try hard.)  And sometimes, the plan works, with the added BOOST!  "I believe in magic" because it's real, too.

So, accept it, and rejoice!...And be GLAD IT WORKS!

My opinion. P.S.  I'm glad for my contribution--my response.

GPS on CNN: "There's no written Constitution for Israel"

And so theorists say they can explicate "reasonableness" without one?

The plain fact is there's no stopping the extremists who want Israel only for radical Jews occupying the West Bank short of a Constitution or a vote for some explication of the principle of "reasonableness."  Short of something in writing, agreed upon by Israelis, there will be a constant barrage of armaments circling overhead in the region--likely.

Who said Israel is not for those who want to live there--peacefully.  Its founders?  Israel is not only for Jewish extremists!  I don't think so.

My opinion.

Attempts to break the Black Sea corridor blockade by Russia!

 A suggestion.

Given that Russia is blockading and entertaining African representatives in Moscow, I think breaking the blockade with those little speed boats is in order.

Not to mention how they might try rattling NATO countries especially Poland with border problems.

Just a suggestion.  My opinion.

Where are the Russian grains going? See the Moscow African Pow-Wow!

It is obvious: Russia and China are trying to take over Africa!--and their mines.

My opinion.

Age-old question: Just because a corporation is big, ought anti-trust laws be applied to whittle down its size?

I am reminded how Rockefeller expanded his railroads into interstate locations.

It's not the size, but the service it provides because of its size that's important, when the public is provided a convenience in transportation not available to small railroads: going from destinations thousand of miles apart.

And now there's Amtrak.

My opinion.

Tigray, Ethiopia atrocities not referred to a criminal court for justice?

The Economist July 15th issue, p.36, notes that evidence is likely to be destroyed as mass graves are being dug to dispose of bodies.

The central government has tried to monitor reports of heinous crimes during the war in Tigray since the inception of conflict.

My impression.

China turning to food production in greenhouses.

Growth is controlled through temperature and humidity settings; and fertilizer and water more efficiently distributed.  It is thought that 40% of the vegetables could be grown that way.

Livestock is going inside, too.  A climate change precaution.

Japan serves the undersea cables for the internet across Asia but caught in the interplay between US and China

They're both at controlling digital data that the other cannot access.  It will smooth itself out in time.

Meanwhile, Asia is on the fast track for growth, including the China South Sea area.  See Economist, July 15th issue, 2023, pp. 27 ff.

My opinion.

President Lulu of Brazil to handle the going green project and the re-forestration of the Amazon

Despite the large reserves of oil discovered in Brazil and Guyana, President Lulu has been brought back to assure a transition to green energy sources, away from oil.  They're also concerned about keeping the Amazon forested.

But the lure to stay with carbon sources may be too great for the Brazilian industries, even should they bury the carbon residue.

My concern.

Russia may be using the Wagner Group to prod the military of the 4 countries that have recently had military takeovers, including Niger.

The Niger government was an easy target for a military coup, apparently.

PBS just reported that General Tchiani will probably align himself with 3 other military leaders in the region that have control of their individual governments.  He seemed to raise the issue of whether the allies of both France and the USA knew how to handle these jihadists intruders.  This general probably believes himself more knowledgeable of how to deal with African-style jihadists in Niger than those from advanced nations!  That was the attitude seemingly displayed by this new head of Niger.

I pass on my observation from his talk.

Historic moment: The US is cooperating with the ICC court in the round-up of war criminals against humanity.

If the United States gives the ICC support in this regard, the world will change dramatically, I believe.

Political scientists sorely needed in Israel: to help establish a Constitution for Jews of Israel to adopt.

It's not to late to write a Constitution for the state of Israel.  Offhand, the principle of "reasonableness" itself is something in need of explication.

My opinion.

Mr. Netanyahu is recuperating from heart procedures; it's time for him to rest.

I think the Prime Minister of Israel is in no physical condition to cope with the passing historic legislation through the Knesset and dealing with the repercussions of attempting to relieve the Defense Minister Gallant of his position, a job he has faithfully filled until he objected to the new legislation that scraps the power of the courts over the Israeli administration.

Meantime, the Hezbollah of Lebanon are conducting talks of fighting back over the Israeli "house keeping" of the Palestinian areas in the South Bank with the Muslim Hamas, which controls the Palestinian region in Gaza.  This is certainly a time for Israel to be posed in strong military posture for reasons of security of the land.

There can be another time that the issue of court vs. Knesset over the reasonableness standard can be decided, after Prime Minister Netanyahu has recovered from his medical treatments.

Interesting, the Likud party is divided whether to pursue the issue at this time.

Where is the former Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff Martin Dempsey these days?

I found him to be an illustrious and bold leader in the right position for him.

Anyway, the Ukrainians are starting their offensive; and I feel they need a strong "bang" aggressive gimmick.  Any ideas?

I hope our country hasn't missed out on your outstanding, aggressive "stand-'em' upside-down dynamics you provide to military tactics!

I'd thought I'd say hello.

Published research into working at home have cited professional disadvantages to the practice.

Or again, there's advantage to working around other professionals.  You develop a reputation as to what skills you are good at.  Getting in line for a promotion or looking for another position elsewhere, you need that resume; and many times, the resume is carried word-of-mouth.

The Economist mentions studies that even go so far as to claim working at home is less productive.  (See July 1st issue, p. 61)

My opinion.

Russia's been able to find new buyers of its oil excluding lost European sales.

By selling at bargain prices and doing shipping swaps at sea, transferring the cargo while at sea, Russia has suffered no great loss in losing European customers.

The Economist estimates Russia still sells about 15% of the worldwide diesel market.  Discounts go to the Latin American countries, particularly, Brazil, and the African countries, including Egypt.  Turkey adds to the oil it refines by buying Russian.  (July 1st issue, p, 60)

FYI

Amid a youth population of 500 million, Prime Minister's allocation for education is under 5% of the overall budget.

The Economist July 1st issue complains the amount for education is sorely lacking, given the number of kids Indian families are raising (p. 11).

On tests, Indian kids are not learning the essentials of a basic education----reading, writing and arithmetic!

The magazine points out, kids in Vietnam are doing so much better!

China, Asian countries, India, South Africa--they all must phase out the coal-powered industry by 2050.

To meet the 2050 deadline for going to greenhouse energy sources, the Economist contends the nations largely dependent on coal (including those mentioned already) will need loans and grants up to 2030 so as to phase out coal by 2050 (July 1st issue, p. 55).

At the recent Paris meeting, it was thought that the World Bank should offer loans at rates usually for the poorest countries to middle-income countries to meet the 2050 date of phase-out. .Low-income countries, many in need now of debt relief, may not be able to make the transition to green energy, given their financial condition now. Indeed, several countries represented at the Paris meeting called by President Macron contend the pressing issue is not that of debt relief but of climate change.  Somehow, the poorest of countries must be dragged along to make the transition from coal and other carbon products.

It would seem, in sum, that climate change is becoming the major one facing countries concerned to save the planet for human habitation.

My opinion.

Morning Joe MSNBC reporting, so far a recession has been averted as Fed. Reserve continues to check inflation!

Extraordinary, inflation is being successfully checked while not leading the country into a recession, which might have taken more than a year to rise up from.

Consumers, citizens are feeling good about living in the USA.

Morning Joe recommends we give the Biden Administration some of the credit.

My gist of the comments on the program this morning.

I know the tribunal in Kosovo.

I urged, among many others, that the International Criminal Tribunal for Yugoslavia (ICTY) handle the trial of Milosevic, who was held at the Hague in the 1990s until his death in 2006 (I think).  I was involved in aspects of that war with the Serbians that was bringing Milosevic to justice.

I would think it's time, given that President Biden announced today, essentially, Russia has lost its attempt to absorb Ukraine.  This was a very startling move on the President's part, but it gave me pause to think that now it's time to ready an international tribunal to become better known in the news, so that it will be able to supervise the capture of likely war criminals during the Ukrainian invasion, identified in the days to come.

I'm thinking of the International Criminal Court at the Hague, Netherlands because of its historic record over the years since WWII.  I believe it is essential for the world to adopt the practice of locating and bringing to justice those who in war commit heinous crimes against humanity.  Publicizing widely the criminal court procedures would be yet another step toward a peace that lasts!  It's the opportune time for the concept to reach the peoples of the world, including within Russia.

My opinion.

Reports are coming from all over the world, including Europe!

Historians of the NATO organization are telling me what these reactions to the Lithuanian meeting are justified:  a truly memorable NATO meeting and a lot accomplished--both evaluations!

We're making history--on behalf of the United States and its principles including the rule of law.

WOW!  It may be to advantage to get the nations, so obstreperous individually now, together in formation of a united front--some several--forming an alliance to perpetuate that feeling of countries in a common cause, each standing for important moral principles of humanitarianism, united as a powerful entity for the common good.

My opinion.

Room Fire Alert mechanism blasts off since 3 AM this morning

My fire alert room system has been sounding an alarm since 3 AM.  Obviously, no one from property management is in the residence to turn it off or deactivate it.

That's life in the fast lane!

Taliban, ruling in Afghanistan, discourages poppy production in the fields; wants farmers to grow wheat, etc.

/What years of presence of US troops in Afghanistan could not counter successfully the drug trade in Afghanistan.  It took the Taliban, whose home is Afghanistan, to start a crusade against the poppy!  Reported in the Economist, June 10 issue, p. 7.

CNN Sunday's program "GPS" reports today that the Middle East Oil Rich Countries have come upon a bonanza in sales since the Russian invasion of Ukraine

Preferring not to buy oil from Russia, many that would have otherwise done its oil business with the Russians have returned to purchase energy source from the traditional Middle East favorites--Saudi Arabia, for one.  With the largesse in the bank, Middle Eastern tycoons are turning to sports--investing in golf schemes--and to games of chance--invading the casinos-hotels market lucrative deals.

Brookings: Evaluating NATO Enlargement Since the End of the Cold War

On Thursday, June 15, 2023, 2:30 PM, a discussion group was assembled to talk about enlarging membership in NATO since the Cold War.  Moderator Peter Baker, New York Times, presided over the conclave consisting of James Goldgeier, Brookings; Jim Townsant, Center for the New American Security; Professor Joshua Shifrinson, University of Maryland; and Ms. Susan Colbourn, Program in Grand Strategy.

As early as 1997, Dr. Z. Brzezinski mentioned in a speech just prior to a NATO summit meeting in Madrid, that he thought Ukraine might qualify as a member in it; though the issue of corruption in government would sometimes be akso brought up as a hindrance to its membership anytime soon.  And, occasionally both Georgia and the Ukraine were mentioned together since they both were invaded by Russian forces, I understand in 2014.

Even at one time or another, Russia itself was singled out as a possible candidate, though the Russian hierarchy did not favorably welcome the presence of a friendly force backed by America so close to its frontier.

Be it noted, that apparently both Sweden and Finland sought membership from NATO itself, since the invasion of Ukraine last year.  Currently, Ukraine would seemingly be on the path toward membership;  and it is now certainly benefiting from the military aid from European countries, most also members of NATO, along with the US.

Any thought of not granting membership to the former USSR satellites was voiced at the discussion regarding how Russia would regard the acceptance, given how close they are to Russian land.

Expansion of membership and the path toward becoming a member will probably be discussed at the next summit meeting coming up pretty soon.

It was noted, how Russia would regard any continued expansion of NATO toward its territory is no longer a primary concern as was in earlier times, though some participants were aware that President Biden has assured he wants the United States to remain out of confrontation with the Russian military.

Wilson Center: Carbon Pricing and the Energy Transition Methodology--A Discussion

A very important think tank session on cap and trade of carbon emissions was held on Friday, June 9th, 2023 online from 9-10:30 AM.  Participants were Mr. Stefano DeClara, Head of the Secretariat at ICAP; Professor Jessica Green, University of Toronto; Mark Kennedy, Director, Wilson's Wahba Institute for Strategic Competition; Dagmara Koska, Deputy Head, Global Issues, Delegation of the EU to US; Professor Barry Rabe, University of Michigan; and moderator--Sara Schondhardt, E&E News.

The cap and trade method, extant and used by governments at various levels around the globe, is coordinated by ICAP.  It, in turn, takes as a model the EU ETS (emissions trading) as the basic procedure in the process of amassing funding for transition to a decarbonization energy universal source, i.e., one no longer largely dependent on the use of carbon-based matter to produce energy for the world.

I noticed the EPA was not represented among speakers on the topic, despite seemingly, that the topic falls within its legal area of concern and monitoring.

I have witnessed over the years of the EPA several instances in which it fought hard to be on such a panel to express their viewpoint on a topical matter within their legal ken.  And what I find missing is the oversight critical function of evaluating those ETS on-going without significant appraisal of these systems, evidently, voluntarily controlled.  I observed at the meeting that occasionally a panelist would, himself, raise criticism, e.g., removing offsets because they are too expensive and little regulation of them.

I came away with the impression that the energy system now in place is being self-served in the use of this industry's commitment to a method--cap and trade--that appears to lack independent validation.

My opinion, after having attended the session.

Brookings: A Conversation with General Jaqueline Van Ovost of US Transportation Command

To interview her in the capacity of the Commander under the Department of Defense were Michael O'Hanlon of Brookings and Colonel in the US Air Force Jason Wolff, also of the Strobe Talbott Center for Security, Strategy and Technology group at Brookings.  The interview was held at Brookings, Tuesday, June 6, 2023 from 3-4 PM.

We, the public, don't get a chance to locate the department that considers complaints of mobile movements of the military across the globe; and so I was delighted to be able to listen to Ms. Van Ovost describe some of the activities her office deals with.  To me, I finally found someone to complain to--I think!  We come into contact with movement of the military personnel during evacuation of personnel, for example.  I'm thinking of when our troops were pulling out of Saigon, South Vietnam, some years ago.  The chaos of the final plane leaving the ground.  Who can forget it?  It caused me to wonder, are troop movements governed by levels of secrecy, such that multiple sites for evacuation would lessen the problems encountered, when so many felt they were being ignored and would succumb to being left behind?

One would think the final plane taking off from a land being vacated by the military would be a mop-up crew of soldiers, only--not people feeling disparate at their encountered plight!

But then again, when our military were pulling out of Kabul, Afghanistan the same sort of chaos seemed to be occurring at the city's airport!  Indeed, people were hanging on some object of the plane during its takeoff!  Again, there was no secrecy and apparently little staggering of planes taking off from multiple locations for country exit.

Impressions are made regarding the exit from a country.  Our leaving Afghanistan in such a hurry, might have given President Putin of Russia the impression that, if he were contemplating Russia's swallowing up Ukraine, he would not encounter protest from the West to thwart any such attempt.

But there's another major instance involving troop movement during war game exercises of the United States with our allies.  Again, might they go off without a complaint by neighboring countries in the area?  The use of levels of secrecy might enable others to go about their business and not be concerned that the war games are being conducted in the region.  Or again, our planes have sometimes been accompanied by some foreign country's airplane or ship.  Could departure or arrival times be closed mouthed publicly to prevent an incident?

In any case, I think the movement of the military must be governed by making sure the people who need to know of the movements are informed and that the business of others is not a cause for our unpopularity when we're not interfering with others' exercise of their rights.

China and Russia both are engaged in making deals with Central Asia's former Russian satellites.

As part of its search for minerals, China under President Xi has more than 90 projects currently underway in Central Asia.  Reports the Economist in its May 27 issue, p. 61, a gas pipeline through Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan is being planned by the Chinese; and probably, Russia envisions it to benefit by transporting the gas through its pipeline systems.

Apparently, Russia is already attempting to circumvent the West's sanctions using banks in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan which accept gold and roubles, while most satellites are permitting trade in Russian goods to pass bound for Europe.  These countries have probably welcomed former Russians as immigrants into their region, too.  In these ways, the satellites are, according to the article, "booming."  While not agreeing with Putin's invasion into the Ukraine, they have partnered with China and Russia, both--a policy that offers significantly greater wealth those of Central Asia.

Nevertheless, Russia is currently led by President Putin, who clearly has raised the issues of invading another country that he seeks to annihilate; and in the process, of committing crimes against humanity.  That real situation raises the moral question of his leadership of the Russian people.

My opinion.

Africa rife with thugs and corruption!

Take South Africa, for example.  The Economist reports in the May 27 issue, page 38, 2023, "In 2019 at least 183 infrastructure projects were disrupted by 'construction mafia' demanding jobs and bribes."  Not to mention the thievery of construction materials.

There's got to be a change in priorities.  Africans have to stress they want an education and good paying jobs; and no corruption!

My opinion.

My little rumor! AI will make it possible to live much longer!

The reason, so I've heard on some mass media programming, is that AI will enable the medical field to use plastics in the body, manufactured with the use of AI programs for the computer in the making of artificial internal parts, instead of say, for example, arteries!...That's what I've heard.

Get ready, grandchildren of today, to live to 130 years of age, retirement at age 110!  Could be!! Maybe....

My rumor, only; alas.  My dream.

NATO'S sphere of influence felt in Russia proper! Can it be, really?

It's uncanny, but it seems that Russia is itself NATO's sphere of influence, because Russian dissenters to President Putin's invasion of Ukraine are accepting the challenge to march into Russia armed to take Putin's war to the homeland, Russia itself.

Can it be, really; or is this a case of fake propaganda by the Russian propaganda machine to ward off those who disagree with Putin's War Policy to stay away from Russian lands?

I wonder.  My opinion.

The Whole of Africa needs educational opportunities!

It is clear that the African countries do not emphasize the importance of education!

But now the Chinese colonies are being established in their countries.  No doubt they will offer to educate the African youth for business and government positions, possibly without having the people pay for their system on African soil.

I've suggested an alternative: send Africans abroad to get university training and knowledge.  These students, educated abroad, could lay the foundation for youths being educated in their countries.  China is already familiar with this way to bring educational opportunity to the many, because the Chinese sent students to study at American universities just after China was opened up to the West.

Brookings: Discussion on Digitalization and Digital Skills Gaps in Africa

A lengthy series of talks by professionals in the computer field in Africa was held on May 31, 2023 at the Brookings--an online presentation.  Mr. Haroon Bhoret, Director, DPRU-UCT served as moderator.  There were 2 panels: Panel 1: Landry Signe, Global Economy Initiative--Brookings; Alonysius Ordu, Director, Global Economy Initiative; Zaakhir Asmal, University of Capetown; Jaboulile Monnakgotla, University of Capetown; and Christopher Rooney, University of Capetown.

Panel 2: Haroon Bhoret; Lesly Goh, World Bank; Cecilia Mansson, TalentUp Africa; Landey Signe, Africa Growth Initiative; and Alison Gillwald, Executive Director, Research ICT Africa.

The first Panel tended to address the issue of where do the African techs in the field rate in comparison with those of countries in the G20: it's below the average in skill and knowledge of those having knowledge and skill in the computer field.  It was noted, too, that those interested in computers in Africa may not be working as professionals but manage to be self-employed or work "informally" in the field.  But there seemed to be consensus among them all that Africa is definitely "behind" most other countries on the planet in keeping up in the field--lacking infrastructure, wifi access, and educational opportunities and so on!  The point was even raised tangentially, whether it is a good for a society to be so wrapped up with AI and computer systems!

The second panel was more specific in the programs these professionals admired that is occurring elsewhere, not in Africa, particularly, but which might be models to be imitated as to demonstrate involvement in the industry: e.g., India, and even Bangladesh, where sound educational training is given early on in a child's appreciation of life's opportunities.

Cecilia Mansson was encouraging of seeking successful programs in training and development of computer skills elsewhere as instances that might prove applicable for import onto African soil.  The point being the Chinese sent their youth to the United States colleges and universities for training in modern technology and even thus, the African nations might sponsor their younger citizens to come to the advanced nations of the world for knowledge and experience as a way to rise to the stature of expert.

But the very telling diagram presented showed the real problem for Africa to solve to join with the world's participation in systems technology and Artificial Intelligence: the need for foreign investment in infrastructure on their continent--to demonstrate their reliance upon computers.  Investors shy away from putting their money in government ventures or private ones where the culture permits corrupt business practices of favoritism to escape public condemnation and rebuke.  They're afraid they won't get a good return on their investment.  Perhaps, modern society's virtual obsession with the computer is not something they want in their culture.

If they want to join the Computer Age, these Africans would have to adjust their financial priorities to make it happen!  Free education for their youth in computers!

US Military together with the Saudis calming down both Sudans and Chad, too.

I'm speaking up because it's been just the US and the Saudis, who don't want anymore conflagration due to human greed of the Sudan soldiery in taking as much as they can out of this mineral rich African area.

But Africa is improving, it only is nobody wants to invest in the people of Africa!  Selfish corruption and recurrent poverty keeps the people down and unmotivated to improve themselves.

My impression.

British Military joining in making suggestions to Zelensky

Nothing but good can come from our allies making suggestions to speed up the Ukrainian situation in anticipation of the country's reconstruction.

I understand the Brits joined in upon being encouraged to do so from the Biden people.

Synthesis of ideas--wonderful.

P.S.  I'd like BBC online news access without paying for it, please.

Thailand's election yields new promise to reform monarchy and the military: a party of youthful people is pervading.

Challenging the traditional figures of Thailand's past are the Move Forward leaders, desirous of democracy and freedom for new ideas and ways of doing business.  The leader, Pita Limjaroenrat, will try to form a coalition government.

I am hoping that Japan or some other democracy in the area will step forward boldly and mentor this youthful 42-year-old leader of Move Forward--to introduce him to the democratic leaders of Asian countries and their trade and commerce connections in his region.

I'm sure he has many questions as to how to handle the military and the monarchy with its royalist followers.

Status Report

I'm experiencing difficulty in staying here.

Two money orders for monthly payments are not credited to my account.

At a resident floor meeting today, it became clearer to me that new staff seem likely to want to engage me to say something nonsensical in repartee to their initiations.

Typical situations one encounters when the individual is not wanted to remain where he is.

Food Stamp increment I'm seeking!

I'm receiving only $23 per  month.  My health aide and I am appealing their EBT decision.

My health aide is doing well.  I thank you for her.  She's making an important difference in my medical attention and day-to-day care.  Wow.

Each democratic government retains the rules of law; governmental officials know and apply them; believing them to be the foundation of societal justice and equity of persons.

While the rules of law exist so long as the government perpetuates them throughout its nation, it is the government that secures the unity needed to make them effectively practiced in the affairs of the people.

Currently, the nations comprising the West have adopted these rules of law to maintain the system of democratic government among them and in dealings with other nations who accept and abide by them.

The point being these rules of law have transcendental significance in the everyday affairs of life.  That is, they are applicable--to today, to tomorrow, even as they were applicable yesterday.

It is not that the various governmental officials do not disagree with one another on certain issues, only that each is practicing the rules of law in interpreting human affair particulars.

President Biden is speaking on behalf of the G7 to assume strong leadership in meeting today's global problems that would jeopardize peace and world resiliency.

He is demonstrating the dramatic changes that have occurred within the G7 over time.  Hiroshima is being remembered.

What has strengthened the resolve of the G7 to do something so bold as to demand peace in the world?

Why it's obvious to me!  Russia has not be granted a seat at the table.

That has meant the unity of purpose to handle climate change and the hostile aggression against Ukraine is assured.

My opinion.  The world has significantly changed because people of good will have banded together.

Brookings: "Delivering the Infrastructure decade: Addressing implementation challenges at the state and local levels" Ideas

The wide experiential level of the participants in this round-robin sharing of ideas occurred on Thursday, May 18 '23, 9:30 AM at the Brookings and carried online.  Adie Tomer led the group that represented the state and local agencies tasked to implement the Biden bills on infrastructure specifically and concretely in their regions.

The panel consisted of Hon. Jane Caster, Mayor of Tampa, Florida; Judith Dangerfield, Policy Link; Blair Levin, New Street Research; and Shelley Poticha, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).

Mayor of Tampa since 2019, Hon. Caster recognized the humongous number of projects funding in the area of water and waste water treatment outstanding; the multitudinous concerning transportation issues in need of city and private funding.  She observed that there must be considerable time given to planning, let alone, the time spent in doing each project.  She recognized that low cost/high impact ones are likely to be done first so as to benefit the local communities.

She urged to make each one collaborative in effort by those living in the neighborhoods that will benefit from the project.  These neighborhoods should be in on the planning, the innovation, and the construction of the new infrastructure.

Mr. Tomer raised the point that it must be clear what groups are to sign off as to the successful completion of each project undertaken.

Ms. Poticha stressed navigating the funding streams to assure sufficient resources for each project, because of citizen needs involved.

Another point: the new project should bring about greater social equity in the town among citizenry.  Once the project is completed, taxes on the improved land should not be such as to drive those living there out.

Biden's Infrastructure Bills may not be complete for climate change needs.

I am writing this because, in working with the Brooking's presentation on "Infrastructure" Thursday, May 18th session 9:30 AM, I came across some item in infrastructure to meet climate change--which was unaddressed by those knowledgeable participants; but that I want to emphasize in this missile!

As much as possible water that would otherwise flood city streets and rural lands could, as wastewater at least, be piped to areas suffering from drought--either farmland or residential areas--if feasible.  For drinking water the wastewater would need to be further purified, of course.

My thought is that the science is there to make the reuse of water possible.

Also, I have been told that cement, already decarbonized is reusable time and time again.  There may be many other construction materials, decarbonized for reuse.

I express these suggestions in the hope that ways can be found to pipe water where it is sorely needed, due to climate change and to reuse materials in infrastructure already decarbonized.

Heritage: Presentation of Naval Statecraft and Power in the 21st Century

Secretary of the Navy, Amb. Kenneth J. Braithwaite was the featured speaker on Brent Sadler's book ( of Heritage, Center for National Defense); along with Thomas Spoehr, Director of the Center. The discussion of these participants took place online on May 16, 2023, Tuesday, 10 AM.

While the discussion was cast in terms of the China-US great power competition, a salient point of the discussion was about the Navy's role in this Century.  And, the Navy has much to contribute in the defense of the country.  For, ever since the January 6 debacle in the halls of Congress, it has become clear that hostile persons can be found just about anywhere doing hacking of computers, overrunning government buildings--creating chaos that interrupts government business.  Each branch of the military must be prepared to respond to "what'er befalls."

And so there is much need to look to the Navy for protection from their sea locations to prevent aggressive acts from wherever,  e.g., by patrolling the China South Seas.  The advantage that is prominent in the Navy's capabilities is its ability to move around--from sea to sea; from continent to continent.  And there is so much sea.  Hard to keep up with the Navy!  When necessary, through stealth its Navy Seals can even cross over a battlefront to aid and supply their comrades under fire.

Ships are expensive, but the maneuverability they possess makes them--when need be--hard to know their mission.  Drones in the air, submarines under water, can be sent on mission from an aircraft carrier miles away!  No telling as needed, a space station could be under Navy command!  Their computers could be monitoring assailants miles away.  Indeed, their motion on the oceans, gives them a striking advantage.

Bryan, Director of Shalom House is to talk with Shalom Upper Mgt. soon

I like it very much at Shalom House, run by So Others Might Eat--Corp.  I want to stay here at Shalom.

Please make it happen.  The stealing has been a problem but I've handled it right along.

I'm not saying at sometime, I'd welcome new opportunities!

IMF projects a bonanza profit from mining mineral ore from Latin American countries needed world-wide by 2050.

Heading this list is lithium, used in electric vehicles, followed by copper, and nickel.  Those countries bound to do well financially are principally in Latin America.

Meantime, Mexico is nationalizing its lithium reserves.

The day of electric cars is almost upon us.  And these governments want to be the prime recipients of the cash revenue.

Importantly, will the advanced nations, now visiting them, be able to guide their governments toward realizing a better life for their people?  Pray for social justice.

"Colonies" of Indians (from India) appearing in the Arab state of United Arab Emirates!

There's strong trade between between Dubai and Mumbai, notes the Economist April 29 issue, p. 61.  Indeed, there's more Indians living in the UAE, than Emiratis.  No wonder, the trade between them is brisk.

The Arab world holds prosperous investment opportunities for Indians, too.

The carbon dioxide of cement used in concrete must be captured!

It's a real problem to decarbonize cement.  But as the Economist reports, English firms tackling the making of cement, have found using recycled cement from a demolished cement structure is suitable for resurrecting a new building.  That is, taking the cement powder from a torn-down cement structure makes its replacement!  Comments the editors, "the green benefits of a circular economy." (April 29 issue, p. 66).

Spain is just too selfish and self-centered!

If the government does not yield to EU pressure, there won't be any energy renewables for Spanish inhabitants that want disparately to stay there.  Climate change will make their land unusable!

News agencies have attempted to alert them their regional plight.  And the planet is unforgiving.  According to the Economist April 29 issue (p. 41), while a big solar and wind project is underway, probably homes and companies must be moved elsewhere to make way for energy production apparatus in ideal placement.  They see the advent of solar as costing jobs and uprooting their lifestyle.  They are not willing to sacrifice even a little for the greater good of Europe's energy supply.  How dare they be so selfish as to threaten Europe with poverty so they can continue until they are forced to live elsewhere, as the final edict from Nature itself.

You Spaniards will then no longer exist as a nation!   Move; or else cease to exist as a people because of  little rain and little energy sources to support you on your land without addressing climate change!

Just so you know, I'm working on a religious project I've been on for several years!

A rare, uncanny opportunity is being presented to me to promote the status of women in the Muslim faith!

I'm working with the Episcopal Church withal.  I've gotten this far and I tell you, I didn't think it would proceed any further than verbal encouragement to the Movement.  I'm hopeful!

Japan, leader in car innovations years gone by, is suffering from lack of innovations in their electric cars (EVs) today.

In the automotive field, manufacturers of vehicles have to keep up to today's demands in cars.  First and foremost, they must be battery-powered electric cars or hybrids.  In China, they're aiming at 20% of cars produced there.

Japan isn't likely to reply, "Trust us.  You know we produce a top product in the automotive field."  Reputation without continued innovation simply won't cut it!

Well no doubt, probably, certain car manufacturers are keeping to cater only to the gas powered vehicle crowd, despite being shown in the new showrooms today!  Well then, good luck to them!  See how much of the new car market they capture!

My opinion.

Religion in America is losing membership: Protestants and Catholics

Did you know that contraception is being practiced in Africa?   When there are religious groups in the United States that don't want such devices around to interfere with natural term pregnancies, are they seeking to squelch knowledge of contraceptive devices (not only in the states in which they reside but) in African countries, too--anywhere that gives them the time of day?

It is obvious, they want to tell their neighbors--and the world, for that matter--how they should live and act.

My advice: don't give them any mind!

And, that's my opinion, too.

C.S. Peirce dictum still in effect: Do not impede Science!

Science is in the pursuit of knowledge.  It ought not to be ridiculed.  But in the United States certain politicians have rose up against science because it does not suit the knowledge they try to avoid by outlawing it in their courts.

Today, the crowd of those standing in the way of knowledge and its practical applications are a band of religious zealots who condemn abortion.  According to the Peirce doctrine in the foundations of science, knowledge must not to be stamped out, merely because some people don't want it around them!  Well, if these politicians don't want to know about abortion, there are other means that scientists will discover to terminate pregnancies.  That is the way of science: pursuing the truth, no matter that some would legislate medical clinics never to tell us of some truth these religious zealots want to hide from us.

My opinion.

USA trains for tomorrow! Migrants, we're here to train; go back, if you then decide.

Ukrainians in Poland, Germany, etc. long for the Ukrainian Experience they had living "in their remembered Ukraine."  It's the West that can give them back their 'remembered Ukraine'--if they want to go.

A valuable feature in traveling, is returning, for those who go want to go back.  That's why I believe the Chinese will fundamentally prefer capitalism; and stay with the West.  Note how China is attempting a rapprochement with EU countries right now, I think.  President Xi is simply mad at President Biden.

Nonetheless, people from around the world, who travel successfully to American shores should be welcomed:  they've gotten here, in need of food and especially in need of an EDUCATION!  But, please, don't send them back (for 5 years) without educating them!  That would be inhumane, some analysts might think.

My opinion.

Oil rich companies are placing billions into private equity funds for safe-keeping!

Middle-East giants in the oil and gas industry have money to stash away from those with mouths drooling with envy over the bonanza profits being currently recorded in the traditional investment.

Not to make too much of a thing over their surprise boom in monetary return, some analysts surmise, the industry must be ploughing their profits into private equity funds, available for investment for opportune stock market fire sales and land grabs.  Oh, too much of a good thing, even for Russia to take advantage of (it's said Russia prefers minerals like gold).

My opinion.

Indian Ocean draws big navies of Australia, US with India, China, France and GB.

So many major powers are no match for the traditional pirates and Islamic ships, and drug traffickers that roam that ocean.

With the big players patrolling the 3 major straits of the Indian Ocean the small countries may feel better protected and likely beneficiaries of generous infrastructure projects gifted from them.  Membership of the two camps, the Chinese with the Indo-Chinese region; and the Western powers with India, are readily identifiable for local, regional countries to choose sides, should they feel in need of protection or are desirous of pampering!

So far, no serious conflicts between countries from the opposing camps.

Wonders in Afghanistan--possible!

I'm working on the supposition that maybe something might develop.

I will need support.  Current projects going well!  Thanks.

Just received word my project in Central America is starting.  There's a Latino President took office recently at SJSU.  It would be good to get suggestions from them, too.  But FBI is critical to this project start.

My thoughts.
