Above all, this assures a useful place for nations with few advantages at their disposal, but want to be up-to-date in technology and involved in business trade universally; so that their labor force can compete. True, the nations with little advantages must watch their every penny, as if they would actually do so!
Look how NATO serves as a paradigm for a protective national alliance.
Working with other nations in an alliance mold enables the US to serve as a training grounds for labor around the world. An outstanding service to the world.
You say, why does America admit so many migrants from other countries? Why? To involve them in an exemplar of a trained labor force ready to serve advanced industries and businesses. Further, we sponsor innovation; new ideas' ways of doing things elsewhere on the planet.
And then, some who come to our shores will go elsewhere; and some will stay in the US or its environs. But we endeavor to train them well, so that they will have a good life and disseminate new ways of doing things, the more advanced ways.
