At the OLLI class on Islam, "why autocracies are doing so well" bantered around by us older students!

At an Olli  (OLLI=Osher Lifelong Learning) class on Islam, we got to talking about the popularity worldwide of autocratic governments as compared with democracies and came to the viewpoint that an autocracy permits citizens to party while monies of government are available for autocrats to do with them as they want--some of the money that would lift their citizenry in poverty above the poverty line.  Indeed, many Muslim countries are ruled by autocrats, and India, too.

The point of the "party" comment, sums up that  the citizenry aren't informed, usually, what their autocratic government does with all that money assigned to them.  They can do, even as President Putin has done with Russian governmental funds in his appropriating substantial sums to fight a war with Ukraine.

So long as they--the citizens in an autocracy--are kept in the dark what their government is doing, they've been given the freedom their ignorance implies to "eat, drink and be merry." essentially.

My interpretation of the "party" idea.
