Science is in the pursuit of knowledge. It ought not to be ridiculed. But in the United States certain politicians have rose up against science because it does not suit the knowledge they try to avoid by outlawing it in their courts.
Today, the crowd of those standing in the way of knowledge and its practical applications are a band of religious zealots who condemn abortion. According to the Peirce doctrine in the foundations of science, knowledge must not to be stamped out, merely because some people don't want it around them! Well, if these politicians don't want to know about abortion, there are other means that scientists will discover to terminate pregnancies. That is the way of science: pursuing the truth, no matter that some would legislate medical clinics never to tell us of some truth these religious zealots want to hide from us.
