Published research into working at home have cited professional disadvantages to the practice.

Or again, there's advantage to working around other professionals.  You develop a reputation as to what skills you are good at.  Getting in line for a promotion or looking for another position elsewhere, you need that resume; and many times, the resume is carried word-of-mouth.

The Economist mentions studies that even go so far as to claim working at home is less productive.  (See July 1st issue, p. 61)
