I've been asked "If we went to 2 Caesars, what fields would they have responsibility for?"

Both can have overlapping fields of responsibility only in different areas of the world (geographical) etc. except one Caesar would control dealing with the budget  and financial solvency/indebtedness of the country, the other with organizational efficiency.

I believe this separation is necessary, since democracies--the world over--have greatest difficulty in avoiding debt and must have someone responsible for the federal government's solvency.  A cursory history of following democratic solvency should be convincing that this is a major problem for whatever the particular list of problems have caused it.

My opinion.

This work is very complicated: must solve as best I can the voter dissatisfaction with the Presidency!

The reason for it, I think, is that the one individual is responsible for too much.  No one person can have so much responsibility when there are so many factors to be considered in each project.

The answer is to spread responsibility among two, at least, both of whom go before the people and illicit their opinions and evaluations of their performances for each of their areas of concern.

By the way, I've never had such impressive array of support these days.  I don't have time to do more than to give you designers to take up the specifics, but I can give you options, each of which you can think over in making the overall workable.  There's got to be division of areas of responsibility.

In short, "the buck doesn't stop here"--in one person, any longer.  United States has entered a new realm: that of shared responsibility or extended responsibility.

My opinion.

A Reminder: Pastor Billy Graham had George Beverly Shea as his partner; and the latter carried his own weight in the team!

Someone who adds that much that people remember and are glad that he or she is on the ticket, too.

In Rome, there were two Caesars, equally important, non-controversial, both carrying a bagful of responsibilities.  I believe US is that big internationally for shared duality of title!

My opinion.

Former Secretary of Defense asks a question on CSPAN from his questionnaire for the US youth to fill out.

I know the answer well; and it is an answer why people are dissatisfied with going into government service.

A story.  I just received my PhD and was considering going into US government.  I talked it over with my wife at the time and she was emphatic: "No," she did not want to participate as a team with me in government.  Government service basically is a two-team commitment--usually, husband and wife, whether the one or the other has a job title in government.

Unless one transfers from business to government, maybe with the status of a Musk, for whom it may not matter, to run for office or Congress requires two in a team; and the kids, too--generally.

But after some years, I got a divorce, remarried to a librarian!  She was set in her ways; and so that marriage did not last long.

As a single divorcee I got involved with government service--behind the scenes, which I don't want to go into much at this time, save to say I had an intriguing and exiting time.  It's been a blast!

So, where there's a will, there's always a way.  But I never remarried after the second divorce.  Yes, what I am doing, I enjoy muchly and feel there's a lot of good will toward my country in government work.

My opinion.

P.S. I personally feel the era of "the two-people team doing service or forget it" is over.  It's asking too much in marriage life and of their children's lives.

Believing that the fate of Israel in the Holy Land now rests with Netanyahu as its leader, Israeli courts are being challenged.

Nay, the system of rule of law is in the limelight.  For Netanyahu and family are saying he is so important that any infraction of law he has committed in the conduct of his office ought to be laid aside.  He is the virtual savior of the Jewish movement among heathens!

Sound familiar?  The cry of another facing the halls of justice were raised by Donald Trump and his coterie of devotees in the United States when he was brought before some court.  And he too appealed to what he was doing on behalf of the country, viz., its voting citizenry.

I detect a similarity in both their cries to override the execution of the law, and to question the ultimacy of the justice's authority.  (See the Economist, December 14th issue, p. 41)

My opinion.

P.S. There's the error in autocracy--it believes that the fate of the country is determined by what the autocrat is able to accomplish. It's stunts the growth of the country in whatever it is its destiny in the future; has no inkling of what the future holds for its people.

Overcrowded cities in India are overflowing with garbage.

So, Operation Clean-up is needed.  See the Economist, December 14th issue, 2024, p. 34.  The problem is very great in India, where the wealthy just throw on the ground their refuse leading to smelly, infested piles of junk.

An obvious sign that wealthy people who can afford all that should be able to afford to clean its street remnants.  Notes the magazine, "In cities it spreads disease and attracts vermin."

My opinion, too.

Well, many critics of democracies, claim it takes time to resolve disputes among parties: Look at the complexities in South Korea.

It could take several months before we know who it is that is officially the President of South Korea, as the title of Acting President is being passed around when President Yoon was impeached, or in the process of being removed.

Let the courts, with Parliament standing by, enter the debate.

My opinion.

Israel on a rampage: now, the Houthis in Yemen.

The Arab block seems in disarray.  Gone is Assad from Syria; a remnant group with al-Qaeda origins under Abu Muhammad al-Jolani leads the Islamic Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) to possibly take over the entire country of Syria.

Meanwhile, Israel appears to be on a terror of its neighboring states: into Yemen, but only having silenced the guns of the Hizballah in Lebanon, ravaged military installations in Iran, and may be encouraging Russia to dismantle its bases in Lebanon city environs.  Not to mention how the Palestinians in Gaza got Israel's wrath by murdering Jews before the onslaught wrought by the Israeli military in the Gaza Strip.

It is only a rumor that Israel wants lands on which Palestinians and other Islamic groups as well as Christians are dwelling under a wartime principle: "To the victors go the spoils."  But what does Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel want from the opposing variegated Mohammads?

Maybe a pardon from his government.

My opinion.

The US is doing very well in setting up elements of world government.

I talked with someone who lives next to the Blinken residence, Antony Blinken.  The family caters a dinner at Shalom House in DC every Christmas for the last 3 years; and I was invited to the dinner or I would have missed talking with them.  The father is Catholic and owns a restaurant here in DC, I think.  That all occurred last Friday night at Shalom, owned by SOME.

I would like to use what I talked to the father about regarding my contacts with the Chinese in Beijing.  I have done a lot to assure that there would be a turnabout from communism in that country, but let me explain.  I am trained to be a minister, though got into politics after my working in Mountain View, California for some years in computers!  Too long a story to relate at this time how all that was worked out.

Anyway, I could only set the seeds for change to democratic ways of thinking there.  This was 1989 on one of my trips to China.  I knew the Pong Presidency there.  And even now, I live near Chinatown in SOME housing and enjoy that culture to a degree, though I live in the NE part of DC, in basically a black neighborhood for the last 7 years.

I am hopeful that the US will engage the Chinese in common projects, still, in the years to come so that gradually, they will reject the communist agenda and turn to Western values.

Would you believe, I've been to Russia, too at the demise of the Russian Empire around '89.  To further my trip to Russia and engage with Russians there, I was trained in philosophy under Sydney Hook of NYU and have attended Russian influenced meetings for a time while in graduate school and in my early teaching, e.g., in DC that were held I think off 14th Street.  I learned some of the problems the Russian non-communists were having there, but I encountered little blocks to my being able to talk with them during my stay in the German sector of Moscow, though I could do nothing to help them, even years afterward when on a bus in one of the cities I was living in at the time I met up with two of them from Moscow.  And years ago, I attended a few events at the Russian Cultural Center in the DuPont Circle area of DC. So, I could talk with them who know English.

Here, I have attended seminars at the organization on 13th Street in the Woodrow Wilson Center, though it's been years since I was there and only there while Georgia was breaking free and trying to relocate their orientation to Western values, particularly English.  There at those meetings, I was encouraging as I could be in hastening to bring acceptance into EU.

Now, all I do is keep up-to-date in current affairs around the world that maintain my interests in world affairs still; and enjoy living in DC, especially where I'm at off Rhode Island Metro station, Red line!

I maintain 3 blogs to that end and use the Economist.  And, I get good meals and care through SOME and the city; and excellent health care at the George Washington University Hospital complex.  Life is good for me!

Years before all this, I was encouraging the Pentagon to establish bases in every country in which they were invited to and I think the US has bases in some 190 nowadays from an initial small number in the West.

FYI, only.

My opinion.

Wealthy Republicans are backing the Republican Plan to keep the federal government open for business!

What's different in this new proposal of the Republican plan to kick budget concerns down the road?

Why, it contains an inferred reference to Donald Trump's commitment to extend the debt ceiling for 2 years--another 5trn dollars for the rich to spend first, what's why!

It's saying "Yes!" to the trickle down approach to handle the country's problems.  Keep funneling government money through the hands of those wealthy who are used to keeping in control of the country's affluence.

But there are "doers" in the country--the middle class and the low class--who are supposed to admit the well-educated and those in prominent positions are being favored in the USA democracy.  (It was the Democrats under President Biden who were willing to try another approach in disseminating the country's wealth directly where it is needed most.)  The "tried many times over through the years" is never a reason for loyal faithfulness to it.

Tax breaks for millionaires on up, but poverty is the lot still for the low class.

Anyway, after President-Elect Trump completes his second term as President, he knows the wealthy have for him a place of honor for fighting to retain their cause.

My opinion.

Supermarkets should start using robots with AI programming to set items from hard-to-reach places (shelves)!

Make it easy for old people--start using robots in your stores.

A Start toward Fiscal Responsibility: An Idea whose time has come!

Democracies fund with "seed" money new innovative projects, a very essential program for growth in the countries' development.

It's like throwing wet cereal at a wall and seeing what sticks, pardon the pun on something so essential.

But with "seed" money a project's value can be estimated.  It's like a Broadway bound show in rehearsal in other cities than New York aiming to see what survives!

Then, the "commit or no commit" evaluations are done before large amounts of money are committed to a start-up project.  Of those that are deemed "survivable" and "worthy of the big time," investors, including the government, can commit "serious" dollars.

And that's basically it.  Fiscal responsibility has been practiced because responsible backers have a chance to evaluate it through "off Broadway" scrutiny.

But without foreknowledge as to a project's worthiness, no money of large amounts should be entrusted to an innovative leadership.  That's just common sense--not always followed--leading to democratic governmental insolvency; and sometimes a search for another form of government, e.g., dictatorship.

My opinion.

Parliament expresses confidence in democracy and its guiding "rule of law." No need for martial law in Seoul, Korea.

Democratic principles have only been followed in South Korea since 1988.  But a lingering memory of what government was like prior to then has been rekindled: killings of the people, possibly not disclosing all the brutality laid upon the backs of protesters.

It is clear the citizenry remember those days, of autocrats and despots--1980: the reign of Syngman Rhee, a dictator, who for years was its President.

No more: no more dictatorship, no more harsh treatment of citizens.  1988 and from then on democracy is the rule of law for the whole of the land.  It remains for the country's court system whether Mr. Yoon will return as President, having been impeached by Parliament this past week for trying to bring back martial law.

Now, speaking for Parliament, Mr. Woo urge the Korean people to enjoy the festivities of the Christmas season, and to return to the normalcy of everyday life--in this model, democratic country: South Korea.

My opinion.

I work in undercover conditions, because of the nature of the work.

And I definitely enjoy my work!

But I've been at it so long, I'm embarrassed to say I can can't place the faces I run across today of people I have known in my past, even in DC, where I'm now living.

I've been associated with the US government since I retired, no even before retirement age, working in Silicon Valley, California.  I don't get paid and try not to think about myself too much, but just enjoy what I'm doing for the Country, USA.

Anyway, on the bus coming home in northeast DC minutes ago, I "met" a face I knew the whole him well 20 some-odd years ago!  He said graciously that I haven't changed much.  He is living in the same neighborhood as before.  Only I got to do my work in several other cities my entire career in volunteering for service.  The "boss" would ask me did I want to move into another and continue my work there, and I'd say, "Of course."  And subsequently, they'd set me up in my new location.  Every time, I'd just do as they sent me, but always hoped it would be more time in DC than the one to three months at a time before I would go off somewhere else!  But this last time I came back to DC, I knew it would be for longer; and I've been here for 7 years+ consecutively.

We exchanged pleasantries before I was at my stop.  I wished him well; he told me quickly I have many more years to live before I'd reach the 96th year his mother is living and working in an old folks home!

Life simply goes on, every bit precious and fun for me!

My story!

Word has gotten out: EVs aren't selling too fast!

The world can live with the effects of using combustible engines (when to carbonized engines, EV (electric cars) is an added option for consumer car buyers) is the current scuttlebutt.  "So drill, baby; drill in Alaska!" is the imperative to oil companies exploiting reserves in Alaska from the man sitting in the White House!

I think carbonized engines are acceptable alternatives, since it appears the carbon smoke floating a lot over Africa and non-polluting areas, despite not given to the heavy volume burning ordinarily in traditional user countries of the gas engine cars, i.e. in the advanced nations.  But also, the several governments may not be lending a hand to restoring the properties devastated from the flooding and hurricanes in their area, with beaucoup dollars from them.

So Trump's federal treasure chest may not be as topped to overflowing from the tariffs on foreign cars, though it should be filled with taxes from wealthy and middle class alike in the purchase of new cars made in America.

My opinion.

The Economist reports a defeated candidate for President of Botswana stepped aside, his party having ruled for 6 decades.

The country is rich in diamonds; and the ruling party, The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) was in power since its independence from Britain in 1966.  (Economist, November 9th issue, 2024, p. 36)

Seems like England trained its colony well in the ways of a democratic government, as the transition of governments was smooth.  The new President, Dumo Boko, a Harvard Grad, observed, "Democracy is alive here."

And on top of this, they're rich in diamonds!

My opinion.

Surviving interference from Russia in favoring her Russian-backed opposition, President Maia Sandu leads her democratic country.

Actually, her Moldova is contiguous with Ukraine.  These two countries share intelligence about what Russia is up to in their region, no doubt.

According to reports, Moldova has been essentially free of attack, though Russia has sometimes cut off power--natural gas, that it is reliant upon.

Can't imagine how difficult it must be to stand up to Russia for energy, knowing that next door Ukraine is being embattled for the last-immediate years?   Hooray, for President Sandu: resolute and determined on behalf of democracy!

There's two, on the side of freedom: Russian neighbors!  Wow!

My opinion.

I voted this month in the federal elections for responsible leadership of our country.

I did not expect to be treated to a weekend of controversy mirroring a monarchical in-house drama of persons in high-powered political and administrative positions sitting down to have a go in a chess game!

I'm just one American pleading for responsible conduct of world and internal country affairs from high places in Washington, DC.

Act your part on the world stage of current events for the sake of our country's economic prosperity; please, not to be toyed with.

My opinion.

We need to develop the Central American Countries! M. Rubio is a good choice for Sec. of State.

Having these countries under Mexico is silly.  They just are at the beck and call of Mexico.

Trump's made a wise choice as China moves in, in my opinion.  Only if its accompanied with a development plan to conjoin them with the companies in the States.

Smart!

To my way of thinking, modern science, particularly medicine, has made today possible!

The real victor in today's election is a win for modern science.

Some religious persons, some politicians have tried to keep the celebration low key.  They have reiterated, "the woman's place is in the home."  What nonsense.  The woman is "born to be free!"  And I hope the polls will herald the innate democracy of the inner woman!

I am surprised that former President Trump, the "like it or not" politician, offers to protect women of the United States, when the police departments all over the country have that charge.

Anyway, on with the election of this day, November 5th, 2024 in the good old USA!

My gratitude to live in this memorable era.

P.S.  "And, we're not going back (to any old science)!"

After years. I'm getting a listening-to from China!

Wonder of wonders!  I think they may be wondering how far some alliance with Russia can take them.

I can only be surprised--they want those contacts with the West; and a path for acceptance howbeit progressively, I think.

Awaiting....

My further update. Thanks to the British, going it on their own.

Ms. Harris is out to build community dedicated to freedom!

A democratic culture!  An aspiring goal worthy of a United States President, influenced by her mentor, President Joe Biden.

Truly, a haunting message carried by an inspired Presidential hopeful, Kamala Harris--delivered in this Holiday, Halloween season of October, 2024--yesterday.

My feeling of awe for this marvelous person representing our freedom-loving Country!

Things going well.

Astounding: EU accepts seemingly non-democratic members.

Hungary, of course, is close to Putin's communism but is in the EU.\

Or, can a member-nation belong to EU because of its location alone?

My wondering.

Economist identifies a Turkey world of followers.

In addition to Turkey as lead country, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan are members of the clan.  Most of these are landlocked in Central Asia and some are doing very well as independents.  The organization they belong to is called the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).  See p. 42ff, September 28, 2024 issue.

My impression of their current prosperity.

Hezbollah troops jittery in Lebanon.

Will Iran come to their aid?  Their leadership has been significantly diminished in Lebanon.  Iran seems more worried whether Israeli forces will strike homebases than to worry about Hezbollah forces.

What is the benefit in being a proxy for Iran?

My thought.

Just learned President Zelensky is willing to give up some land. Great to keep Russia in the loop to stop them wanting even more!

This may be fortuitous!  The Russians have to be tamed, in my opinion.

When I was in Russia, I planned for this move.  They've still got NATO to deal with.

Georgia has accepted a contingent--so as to learn, too--from the Georgians.

Just received word from VMT: my health aide may not be rehired.

She's a natural for "the whole person" attention to the patient (i.e., the older person).

If not her, someone from Sierra Leone who knows about attending to body and mind needs.  Human touch, etc.; awakening the body.

Otherwise, I'll just go with what I learned from my health aide, Khad., after elections.  I may have to do research!

My health aide, Khad, is supposed to call in Wednesday morning, not tomorrow morning!

My opinion.

There's one issue of paramount importance at this election time: Who's going to pay for the transition needed to cope with climate change?

It's not just Florida that's inundated with flooding and tornadoes!  Look at the entire Midwest of the US!

The rich have touted the candidacy of former President Trump, probably so as to force the issue of climate change to be handled internationally, as if the United Nations or a body called by it to cope with this serious question.

Look how the world has looked upon Russian aggression in Ukraine:  NOT MY PROBLEM.  So the United States is corralling what nations it can to support saving Ukraine.

When all that needs to be done is to redirect the oil companies to administering the necessary switch to green products.

The wealthy would likely force the Western Advanced nations to go military in order to maintain order, if they won't pay up--as has happened in Africa.  Ultimately, world chaos, as former President Trump envisions. might ensue.  Then, what say the wealthy?

But another four years of candidate Trump for the Whitehouse is no solution to climate change.

My opinion.

P.S.  Of course, there is another solution: Go nuclear through the process of nuclear fusion.  I understand that it is close to being made practical through scientific research.  Maybe that technology could be hastened to be made commercially sound immediately by the major powers working together on it.

I get the impression from my reading of Economist September 20th issue, Ukrainian soldiers are exhausted!

I think if they were to come into contact with NATO troops behind the fighting lines, it would boost Ukrainian morale.  I keep remembering President Putin is thinking another 7 years of war--battles and bloodshed!  The Ukrainian soldier needs that morale boost of fresh troops virtually there with him!

My suggestion, based on reading the reports coming in.

Making old people young again!

I've been working on this project since I've come back to Washington, DC and have made crucial progress-- thanks to the situation you have graciously put me in!

It's based on Abraham Maslow's psychology and contemporary exercise programs for the old.   I can start writing it up--I believe it's that far along, but this interaction I get here at Shalom is terrific backdrop.  So I can just put together another blog, possibly or something less crude.  And yes, it should keep the old active, doing things they have come to like doing--like I'm training myself.

Of  course, it would be great if I had back my genius health aide!

After the New Year I could devote time to it.  Because the world is retaining old people like me (I'm 87!), the topic is timely; and I've devoted a lot of time here, in my Shalom House, etc.  Would involve going to church again, too.

What do you think?

My thoughts.

I chose DC to retire at because of great doctors I can use.

No regrets.  Need good protection, always.

I explained I have no money--least to lavishly spend on gifts of money to my health aide.

My health aide hasn't returned and probably won't.

I talked to my former case manager and she promptly made it impossible to get her through VMT agency.

Briefly, I think they want me, a 87  year old male, to court, ultimately to rot in jail the remainder of my life!

I'm in your database--at one time.  If you can help me.

I needed those assurances!

 I'm with YOU!

Taiwan taking lessons from Gaza and Ukraine in preparation to counter China's threats.

Emphasis is cheap ammo and a crackerjack intelligence, both of importance in places where invasion would occur of Chinese troops Economist. Sept. 7, p. 33.

Taiwan's military preparedness budget has reached 2.6% of GDP as reported.

The military junta ruling Myanmar is being challenged by Brotherhood groups.

There are 3 such groups, each supported by China now, though there are other militias aligned with Thailand, reports the Economist, September 7 issue,  p. 30.

Apparently. money is the draw of these several factions to the country of Myanmar.

My opinion.

Sunday's 60-Minutes CBS program reports some insurance companies want to pay out only for some of the home damages!

Insurance adjustors' estimates may reflect a higher degree of damage caused by hurricanes to home roofs than insurance companies are wanting to pay out, according to a report aired on 60 minutes last Sunday.

The extent of damage, the insurance company agrees to pay to fix can be handled by a mere repair, certainly not requiring a new roof, the CBS report brings out.

Are we talking here of an effect of climate change requiring a mere repair?  Good that CBS raises the issue!

My opinion.

Hurricane Helene's impact likely due to climate change!

What has happened in the Carolinas?  Reports of eye-witnesses claim disaster beyond a hurricane level 3.

Winds, plenty of mud, and destruction of homes and factories and stores.  Beyond human ken.

Yet, the ultimate cause appears to be left out of many descriptions.  Is this not part of the phenomenon of climate change?  Too many such hurricanes in recent years like it to be ignored!

My opinion.

It seems war is systematically devastating the Holy Land region.

One side is pitted against another.  The settlers are caught in a quandary whether to move out.

It's really a hit upon those who worship and are religious.

Life goes on.  Sad.

My opinion.

My coming back to DC is working. Don't desert me now.

I've got a great place to live, get around, a marvelous health aide, church, above all great doctors, and meds, don't desert me now.

My alternative I prefer, is CCNV, possibly as assisted whatever-patient or living with her clan at my health aide's place.

My thoughts.

I'm detecting on mass media the pleadings from those that live in the Holy Land to help them preserve it!

The US can do a lot to help marketing the notion of preserving the Holy Land that those that live there already know!

They've sacrificed so much to be there!  Let's help them.  It will be "easy" to remind them they are lucky.

My opinion.

The United States has been hit by an extraodroinary natural disaster: we need our leaders to unite us in reconstruction!

There's plenty of work to do: draw us together, O God!

In such an hour of need, the former President Trump's castigation of our Vice President is absurd.

Plenty of jobs and work ahead of us in an hour of desperation--pay attention to climate change! We need plans of action.

My opinion.

Sunday, September 29, 2024

The Hurricane Helene is a warning to the United States Southern States to take climate change seriously.

Amazingly, the Presidential candidates don't seem  to be addressing enough attention to the issue of climate change.  We need the carbon energy industry to be involved monetarily in developing green alternatives to carbonization.

Really, I believe the ultimate solution will involve dependency on nuclear energy, the fusion process of supplying ultimately electricity, saved in batteries.

I am hopeful the new administration will continue in developing all sources  of energy, including nuclear fusion.  I note many major powers are turning once again to developing nuclear, the fission process in addition to using solar panels and wind sources for sun energy.  The need to proceed on all fronts to replace, or reduce our dependency on carbon is essential, it seems to me.

My opinion.

Sunday's News Analysts seem to concur: a Two-state solution to the Middle-East Hostilities might be far-off.

Nevertheless, it may still be efficacious! And, England's Tony Blair, on the GPS Show today, urged the United States continue to pursue efficacious policies to world enigmas!

All that would be needed, is a protective force to keep the Palestinians separated from Israeli lands; and vice versa.

Anyway, I pass it on as a thought to handle a problem extant in the region since 1948.

My opinion.

Important day: I'm working hard; nothing in print.

Ukrainian President is meeting with President Biden.

I've heard from Ukraine just now.

Not too early to tell: I think former Pres. Trump just lost North Carolina +. Cascading effect.

Keep up the great work for the US and for democracy!

I hope Russia won't be under the impression it could get Odessa or anywhere around it!

It's a tragedy that this war is taking place, but maybe the Russians are learning from its former satellites!

And importantly, NATO is a model to the world!

Good job, USA!

My opinion.

Tuesday, September 17, 2024

My explanation: The Russians outlasted the Nazis. They are poised to outlast the Allies and the Ukrainians.

The Russian satellites many years ago figured out that to get their freedom, they would have to go sabotage--nothing conventional.

Please inform Mr. Zelensky of this as a possible tactic as well as  the Biden team!

That was what I was told in Russia sometime around 1990 how it was that the satellites won their freedom.

My opinion.

Sunday, September 15, 2024

With all due respect to President Zelensky, the plan for Ukrainian independence was developed and used in achieving Russian satellites' independence from Russia!

I sat down with those who might have had a part in designing what worked against the Russian Bear when I was in Russia!

The Russians are very independent and believe in themselves.  What worked was internal sabotage by the workers some of whom were to keep those working on Russian defense projects in line.  Russians, in short, are to work against the subjugation and repression of other peoples whose land and toil Putin  extracts.

I believe that method still works.

My opinion.

Ukraine is in need of a source for automated soldiery to assist the Ukrainian military.

The Western allies should be constructing automatons to increase the military's ground and air soldiers.  It would be hard-pressed for the Ukrainians to equal the troops of Russia in capability.

I am hopeful the Allies are turning to AI to develop the software to produce the automaton assistants that could help the Ukrainian soldiery.

Additionally, attacking Russian bases that are nightly sending missiles and drones over all of Ukraine seems appropriate, whether or not there are options in the offing that would at some time in the future be available to Mr. Zelensky.

My thoughts given the Ukrainian current situation as I know it.

One of my projects is ensuring religion has an impact in the world toward peace and prosperity!

President Erdogan is, I understand, involved in the Islamic thrust in the world.  I understand, that Prime Minister Netanyahu is sponsoring the extremist Jewish position of expanding Israel boundaries.  It is opposed, I believe, by certain Islamic groups with whom the President of Turkey is associated.

I think the Prime Minister of Israel is garnering support for his government from the Zionists who are pushing for expansion..  If so, I have heard the President of Turkey may be amassing support for preventing Israeli expansion!

I pass on what I've heard as a point of information.

Thanks to US, I'm making a dent!

All I can say, my major project is to get the major religions having an impact on world affairs, as they once did!

I'm surprised, even that project is making progress, thanks to President Erdogan of Turkey.

Thanks for your many kindnesses.

My thanks, thanks; thanks.

In addition to the 'little joke', former President displayed a disdain for his hearers!

He said the women that accused him of taking advantage of them in situations in which they were accosted could not be told publicly because nobody would believe their version with such a "famous man."

In fact, he observed that citizen contributions to his electoral campaign have continued to shoot up substantially.

But doesn't Mr. Trump see how embarrassed they must have been in relating their unseemly tales about a "famous person" taking advantage of them on a plane, etc.?

My opinion.

I hear talk that Zelensky is considering pincer movements against the Russians in Donetsk area.

Plenty of drones.

Take it to them; around them for casualties, that lead to the end the fighting.

My opinion.

Friday, September 6, 2024

I get it; Do you? The former President's little joke!

Donald Trump's says he'll place tariffs on foreign goods bought here, when the item is also made here by a native company.  That means the consumer will ultimately pay the tariff, not the foreign manufacturer.

That means ultimately, in such instances the end consumer will likely be of the middle class or below it.  He acts as if he is unaware of the heavier burden this tariff places on the ordinary citizens.  But then he adds, (paraphrased) "I'll have the debt paid off very soon."

He seems to be targeting the poorer than the wealthy to be his main source for reducing the debt his administration through its tax relief in his former presidency amassed when he was President.

You get it?  He's acting as if he doesn't know who pays this tariff; but he does indeed!

My opinion.

i'M TAKKING 3 COURSES AT OLLI, AMERICAN UNIVERSITY THIS FALL.

Important in international relations.

I'm surviving my fall on the Metro bus on Thursday.  Par for the course in the work I do.

But it will take time for the bruises to heal.

Above all, thanks for your help on Thursday's drama on the bus.  My health aide will be accompanying me more.

Which shall it be? Believe the Palestinians are second-class citizens of Israel or trust them to be equals, worthy of respect, and free to write their own independence?

How might Prime Minister Netanyahu and his right-wing coalition answer?

Choose more tit-for-tat clashes between Muslims and Jews in the Holy Land; or work together to find a peace, however tenuous and difficult to maintain, because of certain predilections separating them both.

The issue is still the same: my guess is, they are holding to the status quo in Gaza and the West Bank for years to come.  These hard-liners choose a never-ending series of conflagrations in the region.

My opinion.

Miserly? I don't know about it!

You guys and gals of the military are fantastic!  And so are the F-16s.

Thanks for the support!

I have to scale down starting very soon!

First to go: my health aide.  CANCELLED 8/29/24

There is a possibility to keep her through the end  of the year, at least.  Will try to bring it up with her asap.

I am prepared for this via the conditions of the FBI's sponsorship back to DC, for health reasons--excellent health care for me.

Out in the field, a fall like I took this morning would have taken a week to recover!

I fell on a city bus today.  Went to the hospital, where they took a whole bunch of tests.  Results: I'll live.

But today I was blest with my health aide, who, at the hospital, hurried the staff and got us out of there, pretty quick.

From the tests' results, I could tell how competent she is; and how lucky I am to have her!

I've discovered an accounting error that may mean a problem for the FBI.

I was "given" a "thank you" for living at where I'm at for just about 7 years and the accounting people are asking I pay the rent for July, my birthday month, when I was given to understand I was receiving a "thank you" for choosing this property.  Actually, I knew this property when I went  to senior lunch here some years previously for a time.

I don't want to be thrown out of my room!  I could pay the amount for the month I have already a receipt for the rent, but I could pay it rather than acknowledging I was being given a gift for being a loyal tenant, etc.

Please advise.  I'm using the month's rent amount to pay for taking 3 or so courses in the OLLI senior program at American University this Fall.

I tracked down the issue, I think, with help.  8/28.  My rent money order for June was taken out of the "mail box" on the door so that one can pay the rent at  any time.  I have reason to believe my rent payment was taken out  of  the box.  I was assured that the first time that happened to me that the box problem was resolved.  Apparently not.

I put the June rent payment in the box.  I have the postal money receipt that I will submit to the Post Office and find out the process for tracking what happened to the money order.

Then the month after that was my birthday, July.  I got a receipt, and just as I was led to believe didn't pay  for that month.

So, I don't know who took the check out of the box, but they had to know I was being treated by management to a freebee for July.  But I'm pretty sure it's my neighbor, Michael, but he would have needed help from Property  Management.  I don't have much money.

Only now I was informed that my payments were one short, some $358.  The incident may be a signal they want me out--I wouldn't be surprised.

Thanks for the help.  I'll try to pay it Monday in somebody's hand in Property Management.

If I run out of funds, I'll try to get into CCNV.  But then, I won't have my wizard health aide as my loyal friend, Khad.

I've had a TV message from the Biden people--not friendly--as he stepped down.

"Never complain about injustice, but..." have the courage to fight against it! "A harm against one of us" is reason for us to right the wrong in the fight for justice for all!

Into the future, we join the fight for the rule of law!  Specifically, we want fairness in every transaction--for the businessman, the investor in that business, for the worker, and above all, for the consumer; and tangentially, for the people, the bystanders, expecting to nonetheless benefit from the transaction, entered in good faith; and those who look to their own business transactions.

We, in America, are beneficiaries of this system of mercantile justice backed by our government.  It is what propels the middle class to uphold the sincerity of opportunity, where by entering into transactions with one another, we have the opportunities to exercise our freedom, to define ourselves daily by the roles we play in the drama of life.

With freedom we enter into relationships with one another.  We trust each other, whether citizen or migrant.  We can secure our borders!  We have a most lethal, fighting force in the world.

We press on to adopt Artificial Intelligence technology to adjust it to our wants and purposes.  We press on to end the war between Israelis and the Palestinians....

And the beat goes on and on in the cause of making a just world.  We press on, into the future toward a better life and our glorious being together.  In unity, there is much more strength.  "Never let anyone tell who you are; you show them who you are by your compassion and concern for them in what you do."

In the spirit of optimism and in good faith, we press on to do what is right, cherishing the privilege of being free as an American--your causes to stay free and prosperous in unity!"

My summary of Vice President' Kamala Harris' remarks this day, in her acceptance speech at the DNC, August 22, 2024.

UK commentators agree: Russians are placing conscripts into Ukraine and to defend the homeland.

I would recommend the strongest Ukrainian suit:  keeping up the war on the seas, especially the Black Sea.  That's has had the most shocking results.  It would be great if another country, formerly a Soviet satellite, would enable Ukraine to use its port cities to shoot drones from them.

But I think profound success has been wrought on those sea battles.  More, therefore, more!

My opinion.  Crimea battles useful and glaring, too!

My opinion--and my admiration of Zelensky.

Going to the dentist's this morning.

Smiles on 14th Street near Target store in Columbia Heights.  I'm informing my health aide.

9:30 Appt.  A tooth broke off.  He wants to try a denture.  I'm explained, the dentures I've tried in the past put pressure on the gum that makes it very unlikely it will work.

I'm in no pain.

Using nuclear installations requires the most adroit skills and protective "armor" for workers.

That is why it is important to maintain a skills level in being around such edifices containing nuclear objects.

For, it is likely that nuclear reactions will be part of creating electricity for storage in batteries as a practical source of energy, but in contradistinction to the carbon based energy sources.  As another source, perhaps rising to become the primary source of energy, it will be processed and stored as an electrical power source--it is hoped.

So, with the promise of nuclear power becoming a major source in creating electricity, it is important to keep current in the methods of handling objects that are used in creating nuclear reactions.

My opinion.

AI research experimentation should be conducted by the military branches.

The reports I'm getting is that the stuff being developed by the industry is too complicated; and what's more, too expensive.

This possibly could be true--to keep out competitors.  What we need is intensive military experimentation with an eye to open up the area to simplistic solutions and algorithms.

Youths, going through a military training program in AI technology could then take it to the industry, but it's got to be greatly simplified.

Can you imagine a group of African kids learning stuff that only a tech with a PhD in computers can now do?

See what I mean.  Take a year or two, but it's got to be simplified greatly.  What is this about "deep learning?"  Nonsense.

My opinion.

Putin isn't a military man!

The moment Putin pursued taking Ukraine, it was abundantly clear that he's no tech guy.

The success Zelensky's pulling off in invading Russia confirms Putin's over his head.  The issue is to convince the Russian oligarchs.  That shouldn't be too hard.  Look at what happened off the coast of Sicily last week.

Russia got rid of the head of the Wagner Group, a profound mistake that he's probably been making right along.  Likely, Putin doesn't listen to his generals; and Russian youths don't want to fight a losing ground war.

Obviously, Zelensky's got good people in charge of the battles.

My opinion.

Zelensky's move onto Russian territory with Ukrainian troops may prove the step to bring the Russians into negotiation.

Someone gnawing at your back--that's what the Ukrainians are doing to the Russians.

The strategy may work.  Nothing may work, if the Russians can't feel uncomfortable from the invasion of their space by another country's troops.

Go to it, Ukraine.  Some one hit-upon country has got to teach the Russians to leave other countries alone!  For, being independent is a precious status for a country to possess.

My opinion.

I'm having difficulties. FBI-El Paso knows me. I'm here on assignment.

I need to  talk with Social Security today so I can keep on track, if possible.

Wow.  I'm working.

"...And when we fight for America...WE WIN!" Vice President Harris offers hope and opportunity to US!

She ain't just whistlin' Dixie!  She means it!  No fake news impregnated in her message of deliverance.

We're free!  Free to vote our future in America!  Stand with us in the voting line to cast our fate for a future of compassion, concern, and free choice of who we SHALL BECOME IN AMERICA!

These words of hope should stir even the most dazed to respond to this invitation.  Accept your vote that will decide who you shall become in the USA.

God bless AMERICA!  God bless the team of Harris-Walz, our leadership!  And God bless us--everyone.

Brookings: "Navigating global challenges: A Conversation with Admiral Kevin Lunday"

The talk's moderator was Mr. Michael E. O'Hanlon of Brookings, who solicited questions for Admiral Lunday from the audience.  The session was held 10 AM online and with an audience on August 7th, 2024, Wednesday.

Admiral Lunday is currently stationed in the Pacific around the South China Sea, I understand.  The US has an maritime interest to keep the sea waters open for international commerce.  It is also involved in addressing the needs and opportunities to serve the Pacific islands in the area, including the island fisheries and supply chains at ports-of-call.  China is very active in the region, establishing and serving the islands as well including the major countries of Indonesia, India, Japan, Malaysia, and S. Korea.

Recently, the United States has extended countries in this area, the opportunity to do trading with the United States, having long established trade with the larger countries already, but reaching out to the many islands in the Pacific rim.

Admiral Lunday brought us up to speed in the nature of the Coast Guard's assigned responsibilities in the region, which I took is to develop trading partners with the smaller islands and assure right-of-way passage of the international waterways, particularly, the South China Seas.

He noted for us that the United States smaller-sized boats visited ports-of-call in the region regularly, for ship repair and servicing, and to interest the countries, typically islands dotting the Pacific, in becoming US trading partners, e.g. the Marshall Islands.  Though he did not mention that the Chinese are also doing likewise, it is well known that many of these islands have been trade friends of China for over several centuries, now.

Admiral Lunday brought out to our attention that while the current wave of computer development is dedicated in the business world to Artificial Intelligence utilization, the military has not been caught up in the current thrust to develop this radical, all-encompassing analysis and recommendation-making energy-guzzling, cyber utilization package.

One is reminded that in the incipient stages of computer usage, during the WWII years, military personnel were instrumental in doing the testing of computer features.  I suppose, the costs of doing that with AI technology could be expensive, if not prohibitive, due to its comprehensive analyses.

However, the field of AI usage could really use the exhaustive testing of the software that AI needs, since it runs robots, assisting human labor, as well as makes recommendations for further development.

I've heard that some major software firms may offer at modest cost their platforms to speed up the quality assurance process.

Presidential candidate Donald Trump is luring oil interests to his campaign.

But will the oil interests contribute to some fund or other to reconstruct the buildings torn apart by floods and tornadoes wreaking havoc over the lands?  Or, will the property insurance companies cover damages of fires and devasted country-sides across nations?

He says he's for lower taxes and fewer rules in their industry, should he become President again.

Nevertheless, oil and gas is doing very well, under the Biden Administration, where oil investments are sensitive to the relationship of supply and demand.

My observation.

Citizens of the United States: We are living through a historical moment in which the country is struggling toward "A MORE PERFECT UNION!"

Exciting to be a part of this: based on the concept of democracy, our leaders are changing the country's foundations to reflect new knowledge.

And the world is watching.  Let us embrace democracy in the Fall, ELECTIONS!

VOTE FOR DEMOCRACY!  AI come quickly upon us!

My opinion.

The US is going green!

Investors are being corralled in the US to invest in Central America and as re-tooling, upgrading the tech, happening in the US according to schedule, migrant workers are needed HERE.  Things are booming in the business world.  We're lucky migrants are journeying to attain freedom and job opportunities, where the Statue of Liberty is prepared to greet them in New York City harbor.

My opinion--just look at the Stock Market!

It is expected the oil interests will do their darndest to stay true to oil.  Let's see, are they willing to pay the bill of high floods and more tornadoes or are the citizens?  The insurance companies won't.  Paradise, California is having to undergo a second recent rebuilding or leave the area!  Multiply that area by what's happening in the Mid-West.  Somebody has to fit the bill being accrued through climate change.

The Hold-up on the Hamas side.

I've been asked whether I know what is holding up the cease-fire on the Hamas side of negotiating.

I may.  The problem is Hamas and Iran will lose its power base in the Holy Land that it presently is involved in keeping. The Arab League and the Saudis are to my mind the supporters of reclaiming the land for regional development.  That means, I think, they have something in mind like making another Qatar.  Indeed, it seems palpable.

And where does that leave Iran?  Please note the administrative change at the high level of the Iranian government.  I think it may be possible to bring in Iran in a new deal.  I do, indeed!

Cordially,

Anything, Ms. Harris, that the Harris Administration does to right the wrongs done to the Palestinians, I hope you do!

If it's possible to reach out to the two state solution, I have been given assurances the Arab League will pay to reconstruct Gaza and redo the West Bank.

For the sake and in the spirit of justice being served....

My opinion.

The Biden outline for peace is something needed in the Middle East!

Prime Minister Netanyahu does not offer a two-state solution.  He wants to have the Palestinians controlled, as second-class citizens.  I agree with the Hague Court that Israel has improperly been in control of Gaza et al. for decades.

President Biden's peace proposal for the region gives the Palestinians more than they have had since 1967.  I hope his plan can be urged upon the Zionists who have taken over the "Promised Land" of Biblical times, because his plan, rightly, contains the thought or concept of equity to Palestinians.

As I believe, and I've been there in the Middle East, the United States, if the Harris people will press for the Biden proposal, the Palestinian question will be on track to yield peace with wisdom.  Otherwise, the Palestinians will be short changed again; and peace will simply be a quest, still.

My opinion.

P.S.  The Palestinians are beautiful people, too!  As things stand under Israeli control, Palestinians will be relegated two second-class, controlled status--strangers carrying a semi-caste status.

I vote for the Biden proposal!!

For the Harris Campaign: Here's an opportunity to show crooks can be reformed--show how!!!

This is a marvelous chance to integrate people gone wrong, been found guilty yet are still reformable through modern methods of rehabilitation.  They can be made whole once again!

Guys, please emphasize how things are changeable for otherwise people who are too easily rejected by the greater society.  Just like religion promises!

Thanks, I'm sure you'll seize the enormous opportunity given to the Democrats to include every citizen in our democracy.

My opinion.

Tuesday, July 23, 2024

A recurrent criticism of the United States: Foreign powers don't listen to US!

I remember in college hearing the students' refrain: "X country doesn't listen; and we pay the bills for them!"

It's just like the EU: every country in the EU must agree to some policy or intention, or it just doesn't become EU's course of action!

For instance, Prime Minister Netanyahu won't accept President's proposals in scaling down to a cease-fire the Gazan war.  It seems the Prime Minister doesn't like the proposal; and that's the end of it.

Now I think two friendly nations listen to one another and come to some agreement both have in common.  Each tries; but evidently, Prime Minister Netanyahu has the last word.  That's not being friends, bent on listening and accepting the other's point of view--at least to enable them both to work out a solution to the war.

My opinion, hoping friends can work out differences.

And we, the United States of America--us all, need Ms. Kamala Harris to lead us forward!

Stop this thrust of the wealthy class to takeover the country!  And that's what former President Trump has vowed to do.  He even says so in his speeches!

Equality of person; balance of social classes among us--Fairness!  Go fight 'em, Kamala!

My opinion.

Monday, July 22, 2024

Kamala Harris, looks Presidential to me!

When she was running for Vice President, I thought she has the sparkle of a leader in her eyes!

Now, she's about to take on even greater responsibilities.  The former President on television this evening looks worried.  Donald Trump--the race is on to be President of the United States of America!

She should be a good one as President.  Hope she makes it; she gets her crowd of workers really excited and turned on for the United States--as the firm, loyal democracy of the free world.

My thoughts.

Sunday, July 21, 2024

What were once upon a time burdens thrust upon women by Nature are now simple problems.

Please note on p. 65 of the Economist, July 13th, issue, leak free periods for women are now possible.  Thus, science is making it possible to live more of a care-free existence like males.  Amen.

WOW!

My opinion.

Undersea internet infrastructure, e.g., cables, are targets for sabotage.

Can security be supplied for them?  Today, it is dubious that a difference between a damaged cable in use from one damaged by sabotage .  And, who's watching or could know unless down there to examine for cause?

It is simply wrong to pretend "it won't happen"--that an intruder may simply want to cause transit mischief under the sea.

To my mind, a mere surveillance network of cameras would be better than nothing at all but suspicion, whenever a cable breaks.

My opinion.

Israel claims it controls the Gaza Peninsula, but won't help the people living there!

What sort of 'occupation' is Israel providing?  Certainly, it cares little for the Palestinian plight of those living there.  Then, why don't they get out and take their soldiers with them?

But the reason is clearly plain: they want the Palestinians caught in this snare to leave en masse so that Israel can open up the land to Jews, as in the West Bank.

And who among the Arab world will prevent the takeover by Israel and the criminality occurring in an Palestinian land whose people live without living conditions available by an occupying military?

My opinion.

Taiwanese youths don't identify with China but with their island culture.

History keeps one related, gives self identity.  But it is a mistake that it doesn't recognize that a country changes interests and relationships over time. especially if the time is a long time!

So that the communists provided impetus to realize China's independence is no reason to think that Taiwan should think itself integral to the interests that bespeak the Taiwan of today.  More importantly, China must concern itself with the problems it, as a nation, must confront that have little to do with Taiwan, e.g., the effects of climate change upon their homeland.  Obviously, China is in the vicinity of Taiwan, so both have certain interests in common, e.g., manufacturing batteries for cars.

Then too, Taiwanese share interests with the Japanese.  So, hardly, should China think it claim Japan as its territory!  Absurd.  Care should be taken to define one's country sovereignty.

My opinion.

Voters, Morning Joe on Sunday had on Senator B. Sanders, speaking on behalf of equity in paying taxes--fair amounts!

It 's speakers for equity in treating citizens fairly the poor benefit from in awaking us!  The rich have had it great.  They fool the people into believing that the story they hear from people like Trump is the TRUTH.

No wonder that the world courts can't get phonies like President Putin to the world court of Justice in the Hague despite the warrant to bring him to justice.  The Russians listen to his stories; and the world, living in fear, puts up with the wars and injustice treatment he dispenses.

I tell you it's the truly great, great leaders who want equity in the treatment of citizens in the US.  And, our President, Joe Biden, is among the great leaders, fighting for justice whoever you are, no matter how lowly.

That's what I believe.  He's fighting now to assure that the poor don't pay more in taxes; and human services keep humans alive (have nutritious food, among other things), no matter how poor they are.

My opinion.

Saturday, July 20, 2024

With so many nations in the Sahel turning to autocracy and despots, it is important for the free world to remain strong!

Personally, I think it's too much climate change and upheaval in nature that's causing so much irrationality in the world as countries mistakenly turn to one-man rule instead of rule by law and justice for their  salvation.

We democracies must unite together for the sake of saving the planet from ruination and catastrophe of chaos--people running in all directions.  Look at the Republicans, placing their trust in former President Trump, a convicted liar!

My opinion after watching the Republican Convention closely.

Wednesday, July 17, 2024

I have a suspicious nature! There's something not right about the Saturday scene.

Everything's too clean.  I don't put anything in the past.  Those  people aren't above board.

My impression and...

There may be many threats against the former President, but there one that took advantage of his theatrical talents, even after the Secret Service surrounded him on the platform, he was able to make use of them! They were allowed to make gestures, show his face and arms--which is not in the protocol--I don't think so.  The secret service are directed to shield his body completely for sake of protection from harm, I think.

Also, there's an important motive for the Israelis to get President Biden out of the White House and put Trump in!  I could elaborate.

My opinion.

Sunday, July 14, 2024

America is indeed great: It joined with other countries in Europe, etc. to found NATO.

United States will go down in history for uniting nations, who champion freedom of the people to control their own destiny.

It's terrible, I think, that one of our country's flaws is allowing guns to pervade the land--guns that wreak  so much destruction and uproot our peace and tranquility.  I join with so many Americans in condemning the violence which we endure.

And, our FBI has become international in fighting crime the world over.

My opinion.

Intelligence: Be Prepared.

It appears the emphasis is upon negating migrants from coming into the States, bringing with them any information from whence they've come.

It is absolutely essential to prevent Project 2025 from being put into effect in the United States!

My opinion.

Just heard from England.

NATO stands to help the President of the US in his endeavors!

President Biden, GK stands ready, especially.  Mr. Starmer has reaffirmed England's position, I am apprised!

My opinion.

I just heard from former Prime Minister Sunak's office.

It was a sound recommendation of the new Prime Minister of GK, Keir Starmer.

Good to know the baton of GB passed into firm hands.

Cordially

President Biden (paraphrased): "I just keep moving on accomplishing my job tasks."

Is that true?  The President knows what to do right now, and is moving on, "gotta move ahead" (paraphrased).  What guts our President is displaying in the midst of pleas to pass on the torch from his fellow Democrats in the United States; and President Zelensky in daring to challenge Putin's power!

My goodness, they are brave men!  Against the odds, I'd say.

I know the President's stance is inspirational to at least one" namely, President Zelensky of Ukraine, who's proceeding to hold on to as much as he can of his People's land!  Perhaps, the courage President Zelensky exhibits is also helping President Biden, too, to stay the course.

Nevertheless, both these leaders march on, despite verbal attacks against their stubbornness.  Importantly, each is making progress in attempting to unite others to the causes they claim are JUST--namely, defeating former President Trump at the election polls and denying President Putin all the lands of Ukraine.

Where would NATO be at this present hour without their example?

My opinion.

Wednesday, July 10, 2024

The World needs the ICC of the Hague to stop these autocrat monsters, such as President Putin.

President Biden says the Ukrainians can put an end to the world pain-in-the-neck Putin!  He claims, like President Johnson before him, that he knows the ropes of world politics.

May God give President Biden the strength to put the world on a course toward peace and justice for centuries to come.

The ICC awaits whatever President Biden can do for us of this planet.

My hope is in God.

Comment on Fareed Zakaria's GPS' Special on Mexico today

Before returning to DC some 7 years ago, I was living in El Paso for a lengthy time.  I got to see how political changes have penetrated the entire Central America to Panama running the entire North American lands.

My comment is intended to point the direction of growth in this area of the world.  Zakaria's analysis could not show the impact AI technology is going to have in the business and governmental worlds.  Too early.

He's certainly right that in making Mexico part of our profit center, we have seen big business flood Mexico with factories and trade installations important to this area--leaving Chinese business in the lurch.  China is now setting up profit centers for their businesses, particularly in Central America.

And, his program has pointed out how Mexico has fit neatly in US' migration policies, taking many migrants for Mexican industry before their even thinking to head further north to the States.

Good job, Mr. Zakaria (heard every Sunday morning).

My opinion.

I take it that President Biden's Contingency Plan is already in place--IT'S THE BIDEN TEAM TO VICTORY IN '24 ELECTION!

Notice that the former President, Mr. Trump, is putting his schism people in the spotlight, just as attention of the voters is on President Biden's age!  Will the voting public realize that Trump's spotlight is on "dim?"  How will they be apprised of Trump's move away from democracy in time to alert them?

The Biden Team--Joe Biden for President; Kamala Harris for Vice President.

I'm for it!!

I've been given several important projects to the US to work on.

I think things will go well.

I would like to keep my health aide.  She's aggressively naive but spunky.  She's one in a million in guts.

What do you think?  She says at Christmas time she's going back to Sierra Leone for a month.  If you ok it, I'd like to make sure she's going to be working with me!  I'm surprised how fast I can go with someone like her; and I won't train another--no time.  Not good to "spread the word."

Medical science is projecting longer life for millions above 100 years before the end of this Century!

And they must be able to work beyond the 65 years before retiring for sake of maintaining a steady population.

It is thus imperative to integrate the older persons into jobs they can handle.

And just as important, our leadership, particularly in the advanced countries, should prepare business, industry, and community organizations to accept the older workers in some capacity to do meaningful activities for which they would be paid.

Indeed, great challenges to society are about to be asked of business, industry and government in every country.

My opinion.

I am appreciative of the recognition that my health aide is doing such a fine job.

I'm fortunate to have such a wonderful and dedicated worker.  She deserves the increase in wages she's getting!

Grateful and lucky to have her!  Thank you.

A Suggestion from a Rooter for Democracy!

I have a suggestion: Along with you take people of your team that you can call upon to emphasize how they're contributing to the point of view you're advocating in practice.

Several people I'm with think it's important to emphasize you're not alone standing for democracy but surrounded with people you're working with on behalf of your reelection.

Just a suggestion--it takes away from glaring at you rather than absorbing the aura of the team effort--a team they can feel part of!

My opinion.

Having an elderly statesman as President is nothing new to the Country!

An older person walks slower; can't respond to a plethora of complaints thrown at him all at once!  But there's nothing new to becoming older!  Indeed, protocols are in place at the federal level to handle the situation, and some are well used.

I have been assured that those protocols in place currently are appropriate and tactful.

After all, they're telling us that longevity will be over 100 years within this Century!  We can benefit as a people from those with great knowledge and experience, certainly.

My opinion.

No matter what is my contribution. I'm glad for this marvelous opportunity to serve my country in Washington, DC!

I hope I demonstrate my sincere effort to show my appreciation for doing so.  I'm trying the best I know how.

Repeat, I am thankful for my getting this opportunity, no matter how minuscle my contribution amounts to!

Cordially,

Are the citizens listening to the weather reports from around the USA?

The nightly news gives the track and field records of our athletes, but do the citizens take in pictures of the flooding--houses broken down, crumbling into the torrents of water of streams taking them out to sea?

Do Americans know they're catching a glimpse of sheer madness, if we continue using fossil fuels?  Look at what happens if we stay on the course of using carbons for our energy source?

Look again at the catastrophes being wreaked upon the earth on TV the nightly news!  It's there on the TV; just watch the nightly news!

Will a President Trump care as the forests burn up from being so dry and arid or will he fiddle as did Nero while New York City burns--our modern equivalent to ancient Rome?

My opinion.

Biden's Campaign Team anticipating benefits of next 10 years to cover payoffs of debts owed from education of youths.

And there's a lot of federal debt that Biden hopes to wipe out as he anticipates the dramatic turn to electricity as the primary energy source for modern living.

The Economist plays up the much highly touted anticipated dependency upon solar as the world's prime energy source in its June 22nd issue, 2024.  The turn to the sun to capture its power for use in moving America will take the next hundred years, but the vision is anticipated amid what's happening in the United States, particularly in the Plains of the Midwest.

That's impelling the country's leaders to rush and install oversize batteries in cars with haste, so as to move beyond carbonization as a prime mover of motor vehicles.  It can't happen fast enough, given the floods and tornadoes overtaking the farm belt of the United States, threatening the very social fabric of millions of its citizens.  Biden's Presidency may be inundated and thrown out to sea, if he cannot convince voters his Presidency is simply a victim, as much as are the rest of the people who inhabit our country!  And that he is following an escape route dictated by science.

For now, his team is out to convince the voters in this Fall's National Election that nature's existential disaster is but a foretaste of a horrific calamity about to descend upon the country, nay, over the world, if the great powerful leaders--including, he as President of the United States--do not act to save us forthwith!

His charge is great; and he is fit to meet the challenge, if only should he convince the voting public to accept him as President, together with his team, for four more years.

And a solar age of the earth shall be born of epic proportions!  Long may our flag wave!!

My opinion.

The Agriculture Arm of a State University can make sure countries in area are growing diversified plants for produce.

Agricultural arms of a state university can recommend the fruits and vegetables that are indigenous to the region.  And just as important, can assure there's variety in the plants they choose.  Of course, ag universities help farmers ward off diseases for farm's animals and crops.

The Caribbean region is acutely aware not too over produce one crop or another.  I understand Latin America has some problems of over-production of particular  regional crops, but as I say, ag universities can assure that  a variety of plants are in the markets.  If they find need to call local meetings to work with formers so as to assure variety, I'm sure they will be glad to do it.

Know who will benefit from nuclear secrets and be so advised.

This is the time that technological advances are in need regarding nuclear knowledge.

Looks like I've lost out on keeping my health aide! No.

Just too much time I'm finding I waste.

Please advise if there's any chance of keeping her.  She's definitely an asset.

=============================

I heard.  Thanks muchly.

Congress is listening to the voice of common sense: The CEO of Amtrak and the Chairman of the Board of Amtrak.

The United States is way behind in developing rail traffic.  Mr. Stephen Gardner and Mr. Anthony Coscia, CEO and Chairman of the Board, respectively, are revealing their vision of what rail would look like given the hordes of people that rail will be serving once rail is developed city to city around the country!

That rail from LA to Vegas is awaiting construction! The roads and highways can't be bogged down from traffic jams any longer!  When there's high-speed rail!

My opinion.

Republicans will stand by Mr. Trump when if President, he rescinds the Zelensky Security Agreement.

After all, they in the House of Representatives almost didn't agree to what was promised the Ukrainians months ago!!

By signing a security agreement at this time and giving it a 10-year life, if it is not rescinded before that, is a sign of President Biden's dedication to the alliance among the nations of Europe.

It's signs like this that make alliances from a binding strength--out of self-preservation to withstand ever-opportunists to rob them of interlacing power among nations in the world.

My opinion.

Chinese looking to solve its property surplus by turning them into affordable housing.

City governments will be encouraged to buy unsold properties for affordable housing, the Economist reports.  Not unlike how capitalist countries operate.  (Economist, May 26, 2024, p. 64)

It might even solve most of its surplus property in China.

Here in the states, the problem in the housing industry is that the interest rates are too high for your, first-time property owners to afford a house.  But it should change as inflation comes down.  Here's hoping!

President Biden's doctrine: Alliances mean delegating responsibility to other countries within the alliance!

Secretary of State Blinken is doing an outstanding job in the Middle East and with our commitment to new arrivals on North American shores from the world over.  History is being made.

With President Biden at the helm, the United States is easing into its world role of being a leader, ever expanding its alliances and never leaving behind the poor nor forget the ones of us in distress--in the march of the world to even greater achievements of our peoples on Earth.

Wow.  And a nod of recognition to Ms. Tai!

My opinion.

I've been talking with the Biden people during the day, and I feel the country needs their new ideas!

These people are innovative in migration and in international politics, to mention but two important areas for action right now.

It would be a shame if the US lost out on their vision.

With Trump as President, I feel the country would be mired in combat with policies that reward those that don't have the interests of the United States primary in their planning for development into the future.   In short, Trump's people are planted to serve his own personal interests, i.e., to mold the world according to Trump.  I don't see how the United States would gain from that.

The voting public will decide.

My opinion.

Migrants not allowed in US, might try Guatemala, Costa Rica--Central America.

I spent some years working in Central America--successfully. I am led to believe Blinken's State Department is doing well in Central America, replacing Presidents as needed!  US investors might be interested in expanding into areas there.

I believe the mafia organization is too entrenched in Mexico to recommend migrants to that situation as a temporary or permanent place--even if in a boxcar as in Vegas for former military.   I hear they're very comfortable!

My opinion.

President of France, Mr. Macron, needs support and help amid a strong push by the rightists.

This man is being unjustly treated by the East Flank of parties in France.  He's being thrown out of African countries unfairly, I believe.

Democratic countries should stand with him, because he's facing an avalanche of disasters in the political arena by a well-financed power-group, probably based in the Kremlin.

My opinion.

I fully support President Biden's peace proposal for the Hamas-Israeli War. Hooray for his acumen!

I think it could be resolved whose military group should supplant the IDF in the Gaza Strip.

This is a well-conceived proposal, to my mind.  Let's go with it!

My opinion.

Voices of those cherishing freedom in threatening distress: President Biden turns to WWII alliance against Nazism as our exemplar.

President Biden in his speech on D-Day reminds us that by joining with the European democracies 'over there', we heard the cry of freedom-loving people in grave threat.  And in response, WWII  was won--our troops being cojoined with those who, like us, enjoy freedom and independence.

Note what they're whispering to us, who live today, amid the Ukrainian call for help to withstand another's tyrannical invasion. "Listen to the echoes of their voices on this D-Day."  These voices from the past "ask us to care for our country more than ourselves."  To take up the cudgel of democracy.

Because it is freedom that we want for ourselves and those in need of help else lose it, we will not forsake their plight.

But as President Biden reminds us, "Our enemies are looking for chinks in our armor." With God's help, we shall be free forever more!

Yes, in alliance--for the sake of democracy and freedom--we shall prevail.

Apparently, there's no single position as to what will bring about a cease-fire by either side--Hamas vs. Israeli!

We are witnessing, right over the mass media, a disagreement on each side as to what their own unified, position is.  There's no sense searching for a unified position of Hamas military when Hamas in Qatar has at least 1 position and the fighter arm in Gaza has another.  The same is true of the Israelis.  President Biden has rightly, I believe, that the Netanyahu group is for prolonging the war until every last Hamas is located and properly dealt with, according to their conception of the terms of ending the conflict.

Military Israeli analysts have noticed this war is without end!  Not even the Prime Minister would know when it is over!  He wouldn't have the certainty Israel had captured all Hamas warriors.

I tell you, until one position for each side to end in a cease-fire, at least one lasting temporarily, is a dream.

My opinion; and I've listened to both sides express more than one position for their side, depending on who's talking!  And as things stand now, each side can't agree on the terms that will lead to a cease-fire.   And so, apparently, the Prime Minister is waiting it out until both sides are exhausted of war; or until the war is expanded--I should hope not.

Possible: bring all the groups fighting together at a table and let them not leave until they're hammered out a unified call for a cease-fire, adopted by the manifold disputants!

More on this after the Economist group discussion write-up.

They're raising my internet fees monthly significantly, I understand.

Please advise.  I don't know how to handle it!

I just learned it over the radio.

My health aide will be taking off a month to go back to Sierra Leone.  Perhaps, in December.

My schedule at National Cathedral looks promising!  (With a little help.)

President Biden is embarking on a new concept in diplomacy: calling on an ally, Kenya, our friend for 60 years, to become a leader in African politics!

Right now, as we enter the AI stage of reliance upon the computer, it is an absolute necessity to bring along Africa with us in this highly tech age.

Specifically, the emphasis needs to be directed in education to learning and becoming skilled in using the verbal skills, deployed in the mind.  Those kids whose parents are part of the Silicon Valley of Kenya should be learning intensively how to use facts to support their considered opinions and express their opinions cogently!  Valuable abilities in using AI.

Just as our troops struggled over the years to keep the Muslim extremists at bay in Africa, so now a contingency of Kenyan police will calm down the gang activity in Haiti, it is hoped.  To do so, the Kenyans will need to learn the languages of Haiti and the ways of Haitians.  Yes, this is what being called upon to lead a country into peace entails.

Thanks to President Ruto for accepting the challenge of leadership on the African continent.  It further entails being a mentor to countries in Africa willing to ally themselves with democracy, a posture already accepted by the Kenyan people.

My opinion.

What's needed to be taught to make democracy work where it doesn't now?

I've been apprised of discussions on the framework of social culture needed to make democracy ingrained into the social fabric.

1.  Knowing and living by the rule of law.  In many societies, who you know is more important than what rules of society written into the legal system for purposes of enforcement you abide by.  The notion of conduct by forgiveness undergurds the system of "who you know" obedience.

2.  Knowing how to take a position after studying relevant facts on a topic, being able to articulate that position and defend it against those who oppose it is a required skill attained from one's educational years.

3.  And, a course in high school civics covers the mechanics of voting and taking stands on governmental issues.

These three areas of one's intellectual skills are obtained and developed in one's years of schooling K-12, generally.

My suggestion.

China's loans have impoverished nations in Africa. Now some African nations are poised to take their goodies from under the earth.

It's a underground mineral grab from African countries.  Niger is the goodie-box underground that is just being tapped now, even as the Western nations pull out of the Sahel.  For in marches Russia's Wagner group: how timely!

Four generals in a row rule the countries of the Sahel.  Democracy has been tried; and democratically elected politicians have failed the people.

They were not raised in democratic cultures; how could they succeed in that they know only to use to win governmental powers?

Letting countries say they are democratic, as is currently claimed by the most autocratic of regimes, simply to curry the grace of the electorate, is not living in a democracy, whose basic tenet of government is to follow the rule of law in matters of mankind.

My opinion.

Be it known worldwide what Asia is reminded daily: China is aggressive and not an ally of the West.

Asian neighbors of China have learned to know how to react when China steps out of line with them.

But Serbia is actually friends with China and is situated on the European continent.  It dates back to when China was gaining its own independence; when the Chinese embassy was bombed in Belgrade.

On a recent trip to Serbia, President Xi stopped at where the Chinese embassy was until bombed by the West, commenting to the effect that "the Western-led order is bad and must be changed." Economist, May 11, 2024, p. 32.

Yes, definitely, China is not an ally of the West, but a pretty good trading partner, especially with Germany!

My opinion.

There's an overcapacity of cars in the Chinese automotive market, especially electric models.

President Biden has applied tariffs to Chinese new model cars, up to 100%.  Plainly, consumer demand to go green in the automotive industry is affected by the manufacturers who are hoping for a modification leading to less pressure for the public to buy electric cars compared to the popular combustible engine varieties.

Ultimately, the real issue is how much upheaval, destruction and catastrophe upon the earth can people be expected to recover from in where they work and live under climate change?  Roadways are being flooded regularly due to tornadoes and storms.  Can people live their normal lives with so much chaos in land contour and water inundation upon land once streets and roads but no longer?

China needs simply to store the electric cars of which its industry has more than enough to meet demand this year in order to reap profits from electric car sales in subsequent years.

In any case, globalization is working, despite glitches in its features due to protectionism of tech patents and innovations in the semiconductor chip industry and the current need to maintain employment levels to ward off a recession due to any overcapacity in the US production.

Nevertheless, the youth of all nations should take computer training to qualify for just about any field even at entry positions!

My opinion.

The Nuremberg Trials are still remembered; we need our leaders to be held accountable for humanitarian atrocities!

There seems to be a plethora of wars and battlements arising worldwide, especially in the Sudan and the Middle East.

If calling our world leaders to account for their part will stop the bloodshed of the innocent, then so be it!  The tribunal setting seems to have worked wonders in the case of the Yugoslav Milosevic, years ago.

It might behoove Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu to explain to the International Criminal Court, that apparently looks ill upon his military acumen, why he must kill countless innocent bystanders on the Gaza Strip.

My opinion.

US has come up with a model of nation rebuilding par excellence!

I've seen it in Iraq.  General David Patraeus was a major architect for the new Iraq.

Now, today, on Fareed Zakaria's GPS show General David Patraeus outlined a US-conceived reconstruction for the Palestinian lands governed by the Palestinian Authority.

I am most enthusiastic to see steps toward US involvement in the Gaza and West Bank reconstruction, pending the withdrawal of Israeli collateral military action upon innocent lives in the area, a sad series of events, announced in  the United Nation Assembly recently.

My opinion.

PS: Former Vice President Dick Cheney promoted the idea that US is good at nation building; and the Army Corps of  Engineers has an outstanding reputation in reconstructing edifices!

I'm been targeted again--like in the old days.

I've been doing volunteer work for the US some 40+ years now; and have been loving it--all!

April was my sign-on month those many years ago.

Well, this last April, I got a Comcast bill I had to pay, because I'm dependent on using the widescreen TV in my work.

Now it looks like my April payment for Verizon has been lost in the mail, so I'll have two payments to make this month, May.

You people have done great in handling my problems since I've been in DC.  Please do your magic once more--nay, twice more!

Thanks for your help.  I find it's a constant, needed thing.

Cordially,

It would be great if President Biden could somehow coin his campaign on making a "democratic society," even a "democratic world order!"

I think there's enough for a new philosophy of education--"Democratic way of life," "Training in democracy."

With AI on the horizon, the emphasis is on training in verbal skills, brain activity--thinking first, articulating, then doing!  Biden could set the pace for centuries to come, I believe.  I know it sounds weird, but it may be the founders of our country were onto something--"Thinking first," planning before doing via overall goals.  Campaign Purpose:  Going whole hog into the computer age.

Could he do it?  Up to him and his campaign.

My opinion, suggestion, etc.

Wednesday, May 15, 2024

You're seeing what the Israeli government is trying to do: earn the rights to remove Palestinians from what was intended for them in 1948.

Now it's coming out, how the Jews would just love to take over the West Bank and Gaza Strip from Palestinian development--why Israel just treated the Palestinians under the Palestinian Authority as second-class citizens.

They're talking now of developing towns just bordering Gaza.  They're trying to claim the West Bank outright.

They'd extend to take land from Jordan, if they could, I believe.  That area, in short, is idyllic.

My opinion.

To make way for democracy, parents should engage in conversations with their children from early stages of development.

The key is to keep talking with them.  Let them learn to make noises, that turn into vowels and consonants and finally words; sentences.

Emerge from looks to talks, letting them try expressing what they are feeling.  Talk with them even before they can successfully manage to utter words.

Democracy thrives on talking with one another.  Get away from fights and conflict to expressing what you feel!  Don't just give them the bottle, tell them what you're doing.  You are sharing with them the gift of talk and saying what you feel and think.  They will faster pick up on the words' meaning.  Follow the talking between them and you with actions appropriate.

Establishing a society of humans around the table, the public square takes time and effort; well worth it, you'll note soon enough.  And keep talking with them!

My opinion.

It looks as if Georgia needs a mentor-nation already in the EU to help guide it to EU-full membership!

It may be that a nation-state that wants to join the EU is given a list of things it must do to qualify.  But is it given a member-state in the EU the status of being its mentor to help guide the applicant nation all the way to its becoming a member-state in the EU?

Sending a state to go it alone seems uncaring and renders no encouragement and knowledge--both needed to complete membership requirements--particularly because the process is so lengthy.

What it really does, is enable those antipathetic to the project in Georgia and in Russia to go all out to prevent completion of the membership process!  You're giving the "enemy" to the Georgian project plenty of opportunity to thwart Georgia's avowed want of membership.

I say a welcoming should be evident in assigning an EU member to work with Georgia to achieve membership in the EU through the lengthy process that well may be worth it!

My opinion.

P.S. And if one nation has already been assigned, is the partnership working out?  The entertaining of a "foreign agent" bill in Georgia's legislature, akin to that in practice in Russia, may have the same results--people in prison!

President Biden prevented an Iranian scourge of Israel, but Israel wants to complete a scourge of Gaza land.

There is one city that remains, possibly to be redeemed in Gaza land.

But, Israel won't listen to reason, apparently.

President Biden, World Statesman, is doing a great thing on behalf of humanity!

Innocent adults and children were being slaughtered in the Gaza Strip.

Thank you, President Biden.  For your compassion to save lives.

My opinion.

Having secured the backing of the Russian oligarchs and his people through an election, Putin appears ready to take on European NATO.

He is already blasting the Prime Minister Sunak of GB!  And has nothing good to say of the other leaders on the European Scene.  NATO, I hope your ready.  He's after big game, now; not the puny Ukrainian military.  He's thinking Russian Empire, even as he walked the halls of his Russian domain in celebration of another 6-year term of reign.

I think the President Macron of France is onto something important, not to be simply tossed aside, namely, come in with Zelensky's forces now, before the real battle begins for the whole of Europe.

I take President Putin's saber-rattling very seriously.  He can't handle the West, but he doesn't know that!  He may not understand that President Xi is simply pumping him, so to accelerate the Chinese space program.

My opinion.

The Team of China and Russia at China's Wenchang.

The Economist. April 27th issue, p. 34, contains an invite to establish a branch of its Moscow Power Engineering Institute at China's tropical spaceport.

Premier Xi envisions Wenchang as a center for a confluence of ideas--Chinese and Russian--that will lead to a "reform of the global governance system": intended, I surmise, to legitimatize their vying with the United States for leadership among the multitude of nations in the world.

Or, is China interested in capturing the knowledge of the Russian space program to be adapted to Chinese interests in outer space, looking to establish its very colony on another planet?

My wonderings.

Chinese industrials locate plants in its region.

Apparently, in order to look for opportunities abroad, Chinese companies have located outside of China but in the Asian area, e.g., South-East Asia; Vietnam (where in some provinces, businesses are nearly 40% Chinese owned).  This is simply evidence of Chinese diaspora regionally, luring Chinese investment tangentially.

I've felt particularly, Indonesia, is much on the move as we are in the United States!  They're rich in lithium for batteries, I understand.

My comment.

3 Fields of knowledge in big demand today: energy, AI; and medicine.

And the major world powers, including United States and China in avowed competition with one another, are taking up the cudgel to encourage science among their educated elite.

Importantly, to stay abreast of innovations and new concepts in these three fields, there is much intercommunications and joint ventures, bringing together the world's greatest minds on these topics.

But there is a rumbling of possible break-throughs in space and astronomy as rich nations turn to constructing inter-planetary travel vehicles.

Thus, it would seem an explosion of new knowledge and un-imagined capabilities for mankind is on earth's horizon.

The world must calm down first, in order to comprehend ultimate principles of nature.  The primary condition in society: a world at peace.

My philosophy.

My Health Aide could get in trouble with her company!

I goofed this morning because I was doing my volunteer work for the government.

Could you guys smooth it over, so that she is ok?

Thanks for any help.  It's bound to happen now and again that I get swamped and make an error.

Wilson Center: "US Leadership Matters in Addressing Forced Displacement Crisis"

On Thursday, April 25, 2024 1-2:30 PM, online, a discussion on forced displacement to the United States was taken up.  The moderator of the event, presenting panelists to discuss it in one of two groups, was RAFDI director, John Majok.  Discussants were Sarah Miller, Senior Fellow Refugees International; Professor Susan Martin, Emerita, Georgetown University; and Professor Laura Robison, Pennsylvania State University.  Then, continuing, Mathew Reynolds, UNHCR; Lauren Thomas, Advocacy Officer, Conrad Hilton Foundation; Nili Yossinger, Director, Refugee Congress; and Professor Hollifield, Tower Center SMU.

Most migrants are coming from the global south to the north, many from Venezuela, Syria, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and some even from Ukraine.  There's typically someone from the Refugee Congress, a person who was once on the trek to the US and made it, to lend them a "Welcome" hand.  The financing each year has gotten leaner and yearly there's a deficit.   It is estimated travel for the "caravans" are some 11B only 6B available funds each year.  US-Aid and World Bank help with funding even once their here; and of course, religious groups are a great resource and provide assistance.

Nevertheless, there's great emphasis these professionals placed upon the need of migrant protection on the trek of many thousands of miles!  I would imagine the Cartels are a migrant's nightmare especially in Mexico.

Host governments may look kindly on migrants to their country, whether they end up in the States or stop off in another land, particularly if there are more older citizenry to care for than the population of younger people to supply its coffers from formal taxes with ample financial reserves.

These participants wanted also to assure their listeners that the migrants are emphatic:  they don't want to go back from whence they came!

The panelists seemed a dedicated group of advocates aimed at making the immigrants feel comfortable in their new land; and their long journey worthwhile.  But not just for their clan, but personally committed to contribute to our society what they can, as they develop an appreciation for what the United States is.

Kennan Institute: "Possibilities and Pitfalls in the US-Kazakhstan Relationship" Discussion

An online discussion of US-Kazakhstan relations was held Thursday, April 25, 2024 10 AM-11 AM.  The moderator was Jennifer Wistrand of Kennan, and speakers on the topic were Professor Suzanne Loftus, Georgetown University; Mr. Erkin Tukumov, Director, Kazakhstan Institute; and Shalkar Nurseitov, Director, Center for Policy Solutions.

Kazakhstan borders Russia and China.  During April, dignitaries from Kazakhstan were in Beijing talking trade agreements, while a delegation from the United Kingdom, headed by David Cameron, Secretary for Foreign Affairs were in Astana, doing much the same thing.  Kazakhstan is rich in minerals, particularly uranium.

United States educates some 1,500 students from Kazakhstan yearly here.  The country has a history of friendly relations with the States, though tends to vote in the United Nations with the Chinese-Russian clique.  It doesn't take a rigorous position on the Russian War in Ukraine that I could determine.  Tourism between the country and the world is promoted through a visa program designed to attract visitors.

Big business in Kazakhstan is oil and natural gas.  They are making strides in allocating water with China.  The country promotes its traditional values developed over a regional, long history, but I understand documents are written in Russian. And the commerce with the West is largely via Britain, a good friend, but business attracts US investments, too.

I got the impression that the speakers would like even more attention and involvement with things going on in the US: "more invitations, please!"

President's Financial Team may have come up a scheme to back lending money.

...through making projections of savings incurred by working "off" the loan.

As I understand it, third world countries are complaining they have not tangible resources to back major loans to them.  They just don't have the needed financial reserves available.

Biden's idea is that they do have resources in the labor that could be made use of instead of society's paying for their not working but living off its welfare.  So by getting them to work, i.e., investing in their future livelihood, the labor they will expend is in lieu of society's handout to them that keeps them going as a viable potential worker now.

Using projections how much society saves by not giving them a welfare check is worth it as an investment in their future of work--made possible by putting them to work instead of their living off society's dole!

Now, if the banking industry would put the schemata into effect!  My apologies if I've not got Biden's idea quite right!

My thoughts to extend financial investment into the future earnings that save social handouts.

Brookings: "Toward reimagined global financial architecture: Progress and Challenges"

The meeting was held on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 9-11 AM.  Ms. Cecilia Rouse, President of Brookings, introduced the participants on the common discussion topic, divided into two panels, giving each participant ample opportunity to make their points: Amina Mohammed, United Nations; Brahima Coulibaly, Global Economy, Brookings; Amar Bhattacharya, Global, Brookings; Azucena Arbeleche, Minister of Economy, Uruguay; Iyabo Masha, Director, G24; Njuguna Ndung'u, Cabinet Secretary, Kenya; and Jose Ocampo, Columbia University.

The group, seemed to severally, populate a protest, demanding reform of the financial system and greater say in the manner the global system of lending and borrowing money is set up.  They individually voiced concern over (1) how the poorer countries are to adequately remedy the effects of climate change--an immediate, pressing problem to which those lesser than the rich countries have little monetary means to cope with; and (2) how to prevent the favorite treatment certain groups their country receive as compared to the rest in their society.  The frustrations expressed boiled down to these two, essentially, in my opinion.

There has been corruption in high governmental circles worldwide, and democracies have deployed the will of the people replace autocratic control of the society that tends to lead to it.  The other--the current number of environmental catastrophes caused by climate change--may require substantial displacement of peoples and substitution of crops grown to feed them.

Through the United Nations, it would seem, plans will be drawn up to map strategies to circumvent the harsher effects of climate disasters upon a population, e.g., building infrastructures that can withstand their effects, moving whole segments of a people to other places on earth.

But the real problem loudly proclaimed at this meeting is that the poorer are not able to cope with the banking system as presently in operation--for centuries!  These countries just don't have the financial wherewithal to do battle for their own salvation!  And, the rich are busy with their own problems, it would appear.  In any case, I think there is loud dissatisfaction with the IMF and the World Bank--both cited in the course of the discussion.

In short, the poor countries around the world are going into serious debt; as demonstrated by the loans to China through its recent Belt and Road Initiative in Africa, that ended up with native countries' incurring significant debt.
