After listening to various reports of the Chinese Communist Congress assemblage, I gathered an impression that there was consensus in its halls to welcome Taiwan into the Beijing fold.
I know there was some disturbance about the ways of President Xi in handling certain things--the pandemic and repayment schedules of African nations in arrears to China--leading to this challenge that he carry forth his project to wrap the Taiwan Peninsula up into the waiting arms of "mother" mainland, thus to demonstrate to Congress and indeed to the world, his mettle in the world of diplomacy with military as backstop.
Yet, I also heard mention that China would not be up to speed of assuming the role as major power for yet another 6 or 7 years!
Somewhere, I didn't get it straight!
