Climate change may be responsible for the worst fires on record in Spain!

As if that's not awful enough, the whole of South America is warming up.  Poor quality snow lies on the ground; and resorts, down under, are suffering from lack of travelers, in search of skiing on challenging slopes, are making other plans this Fall.  Maybe, the truly adventurous of them will book for flight to the Moon, preparing for a ride-glide into outer space.

My imagination is overly active, tonight!

Fighting alongside with the Taliban of Afghanistan, in north Pakistan war is raging against Islamic State terrorists.

Attempting to impose sharia law, small bands of regional IS terrorists pose a threat to Pakistan's citizens--there has been much bloodshed in the North.

Pakistan has appealed to the US to provide intelligence as to the sale on the black market of weaponry left behind when the Allies pulled out of Afghanistan. Its soldiers could use some of that artillery.  They are looking to the US in order to pin down the Islamic fighters in battle, too.

Is there talk of re-stocking a US base in Afghanistan to help out the local military governments in their continuing encounters with these dissident terrorists?

My opinion.

Syria needs US advisers to train al-Sharaa in democracy!

The ruler of Syria knows little of democratic principles: the critical one being to listen to all his people and give consent to the governed.

But he will always have the taint of an authoritarian!  Can't be helped.

My analysis of Syrian politics.

Bring chipmaking to American shore, yes; but make use of a skilled chipmaking pool available from abroad!

The US is in need of skilled workers in chipmaking.  The technology calls on the world's AI available technicians to relocate here in the USA.

Japan and the Netherland workers are critically needed to operate in their realms of expertise to move things along in the supply chains of advanced knowledge: greater training for engineers.

My estimation.

Cities need poverty-alleviation programs that enable more activity from the poor!

Trump represents the affluent; Mamdani represents alleviating the poorness of the poor.  For one thing, the next mayor of New York is in favor of free city bus lines to increase ridership!

We need to find ways to make life more enjoyable for those experiencing the results of Trump's favoring the rich.  How is it that the Dems are not supporting programs to distribute staple foods to the poor through food stamp warrants?  As long as the Republicans find ways to lower cost of living for the wealthy, voters ought to be apprised of those running for office that are pledged to sponsor public programs that ease the life of poverty of the poor.  Make sense?

Mr. Mamdani is to be congratulated to discern that public support of those in power lean today toward the wealthy of society!  Many in prominence should come to offer aid for the societal poor and/or neglected.

My opinion.

Prominent authoritarian rulers have emerged to supplant democratic rulers world-over.

And what's more, they are committed to making a large profit.  Not the least of these is Chairman Xi and also Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia and the Rwandan government.  Star among these new advocates of authoritarian rule is the bright star  of Vietnam, headed by its Communist leader, To Lam.

What is common in ruling characteristic is a reliance upon government spending to emphasize the role of government in making possible a growth in business.  Such efficiency in government attracts investors to partake.  Nevertheless, growth has been relatively slow for the ballooning populations nor to add substantially to the wealth of these autocratic government's.

My impression.

Innovation pertaining to using wind and solar is proceeding despite some reluctance!

New companies are emerging with models of how to make wind and solar even better than ever to produce electricity, reports the Economist, August 16 issue, pages 54-55.

Clean technology, whether in the use of generators, types of nuclear power, etc. are being deployed.  Google and Amazon are both exploring small generators per particular factories that are technically advanced over older models of generators.

The issue is, "don't let any stone be un-turned!"

My appraisal.

Japanese Car Manufacturers try to skirt tariff costs by tinkering.

They think of ways to boost profits that don't incur President Trump's levying ire of tariffs, such as shifting manufacturing of the cars to the shores of the US (that is preferred by the US Administration), and Mazda thinks it may avoid the tariffs by cutting costs to make the cars.  The general theme in Japan seems to be avoid getting to pay out on tariffs if at all possible!  Incidentally, Toyota has in mind to manufacture its EVs in Japan itself--at least luring more home folks to consider buying them.

Perhaps, cut back on advertising?  Who knows, especially when one considers any changes in tariffs that President Trump considers making is subject to further change!

In short, what country's car makers will influence Trump to come up with yet another scheme to alter tariff rates compared to some present schedule?

My opinion.

China dominates the Meeting of Russia, N. Korea and Modi's India with other nations in attendance.

Russia was seeking China's approval of N. Korean troops, helping the Russian offensive in Ukraine, while Modi appealed for Russian oil to meet India's needs for energy.  President Xi did not refuse to back these moves on behalf of China's friends.

So now, the United States gathers its forces and that of its Western Allies to counter the silent intrusion of drugs penetrating through the Caribbean into the blood of Americans!  Fye, Fye upon such hideous endeavors against freedom-loving peoples of the world!

And so, the beat of the war drums can be heard, declaring yet begging for peace and trade among those of good will.

My opinion.

If only "Xiongan" can have one advantage over modern cities of today, then President Xi's city will remain a tribute to him.

President Xi is building a capital city in remembrance of his dynasty's administration.  It is intended to but retain a feature of modern life corrected.  You know what it is:  the urban sprawl that forces a commuter working for government to spend 50 minutes one way in congested traffic downtown DC.

"I'm bringing to the mid-city leafy parks instead of 'cough-producing traffic jams.'" Result: short commuter times to government work.  The average commuter to work will be reminded of the contribution President Xi made to a gov worker's daily life: a shorter commute time.

On the other hand, President Trump is thinking of upgrading Washington, DC.  He would like to be remembered, I think, as one who made the memories of the world's riches individuals living in the nation's Capital.  They will, if he has his way, be remembered for holding up traffic to enable each richer person's car to go in  front of every other's approaching a traffic signal!  The rich will be given his due honor, that is to say, in a traffic jam's line-up!

My opinion.

The Israelites know better than to occupy another's land!

They were in Egypt under the Pharaoh, but they knew they were the Children of God, of the mighty Yahweh, and were destined for great things in their own land.

And, Yahweh would not forget them.  So he rose up Moses and Aaron to become their leaders in His promised Land.  And His leaders held God to His Word.

The Israelites crossed the Red Sea to bring them out into their own land.  And they worshipped; and Praised the Lord.

But now, in our time, Yahweh has joined with Islam's followers of Allah for those who have suffered so much at the hands of Yahweh's believers in their own Israel (that the Palestinians have been found cleansed by the power of prayer, the belief in the Oneness of God).  It is through Prayer, that God the Holy Spirit, attests to the sanctity of the Palestinian souls=as pure as the driven snow.

So come, ye Israelites, come ye Palestinians and join in unity of the One True God: "the God of Moses, of Mary, of Muhammed--the One, True, God of the Universe!"

Starmer trying to hold onto AstraZeneca!

To maintain its position as a leader in the health-care field, Britain should hold onto major companies in the preserving life category.

But its share of companies in R & D is in decline, boasting of major figures in the field.  The way in which new drugs are approved might be a starting point for reform.  Let discussions between the government and the industry should alleviate major problems and let Britain service its citizens with top quality health care!

(said silently...) "Move your chair towards me...You have my word!"

"I'll sustain you, Ukrainians...freedom fighters for us."

The chair of the speaker was already stilted in Zelensky's direction, as the whisperer had indicated.

"Then be of stout heart."  Chancellor Merz continued in hushed silence,  "The purpose of us EU members here with you this day has been accomplished."

And a chorus of  voices could be barely heard as chairs of all the other EU members present tilted ever so slightly towards President Zelensky's.  (In hushed unison, their saying,) "AMEN."

My imagination.

Ukrainians await word of Congressional passage on $ 54B aid package as the Russian aggression continues.

Is Russia really seeking peace or pursuing the conquest of Ukraine, which Russia does not even acknowledge is a legitimate nation?

Russia will soon be asked to attend another session of the peace-seekers with security guarantees that the West is planning.

Sanctions that President Trump has in mind against Russian buyers of its oil and the aid package before Congress being prepared for passage and anything the EU comes up with to financially aid the Ukrainians are just the only steps to save Ukrainian sovereignty at this time.

My opinion.

Sharing our foods, living among each other, we grow into a universal Oneness.

We are living longer; and we are expanding our living quarters, ever so slowing--upward into the sky, beyond the boundaries of the Earth.

It takes brave courage to extend ourselves into the Universe. Nevertheless we are home withal its properties yet to be discovered and made ours!

We are growing up--literally up, up. fifty floors, 100 floors, reaching out to the planets and their moons.

Don't be afraid of heights!

My opinion.

Jake Sullivan of the US sees through the image that Russia's President is projecting---the Nineteenth Century dream of Russia's Czar--on CNN's Fareed Zakaria's GPS today; does President Trump see it's only a dream?

President Trump may be caught up with the grandeur his own administration has provided to the festivities of entertaining Russia's President Putin in  Alaska.[

Doesn't he see that Russia's economy is dependent on the oil sales to India and China; and Russia is going to languish as the world advances toward dependency on electricity for energy?

To my mind, President Trump is enamored with his own image of Putin in his veritable adoration of royalty in an Eighteenth Century lure!  Wake up, President Trump, to the reality that he's dependent on you to make his dream, captured in the pomp and ceremony of the meeting, just as real.

My opinion.

Just as in Moscow, there's a German Sector that establishes trade with Germany, so there should be a Ukrainian Sector to establish good relations in trading with Ukraine!

Very successful to retain good relations among neighbors.

Good to be back where I've been living!

Thanks for all your help.

I find a bit confusing to even refer to retaliatory tariffs in discussing some business dealing!

I sense the BBC reporters find it confusing to bring in the concept of retaliatory tariffs into specifying the amassing of funds from legal reciprocal tariffs.

My opinion.

The Saudis are getting half of their electricity needs met through renewables.

Not veering away from the oil and gas products, many companies in the Near East are becoming conglomerates.  Natural gas seems a likely product for expansion.

Yet, some have gone off into decarbonization products--carbon capture and sequestration--away from gasoline..

US presence in Somalia amid embattled central government and recalcitrant federal states.

But the US has heard the pleas of the African Union to remain and is listening how they might help unite a fragmented country.  It seems a recurrent problem in Somalia!

One idea, posed to the US there, is to build a base in Somaliland, not unlike that China has done in the region--Djibouti--I would imagine.

My opinion.

Lebanon's President tries to handle the Hizbullah tactfully; Syria under al-Sharaa enters the community of nations in the area.

The Economist reports of daily air strikes or its occupation near the Israeli border, despite the efforts of the US in the person of Tom Barrack, ambassador to Turkey.  Both countries are trying to act as unified states, despite the several fractional divisions of differing clans.

How much enthusiasm for the Israeli interest in these neighboring two countries can only be surmised as the presidents persevere in holding on to their people.

My opinion.

It was timely: The introduction to deployment of tariffs with the rush to do AI tech research!

With discussion how much a typical middle class family would have to pay out to get the tariff method into gear and use, the promises of AI enthusiasts in both business and science alike hold open the prospect of a veritable new world of economic prosperity.  Hear the words from the Economist: "What if AI made the world's economic growth explode?" July 26, 2025, p. 18.

No wonder with that degree of enthusiasm to do AI, businesses are rapidly constructing AI data centers to readily handle AI projects despite their massive costs!

Nevertheless, the general public seems willing to go along with the technical experts in making a societal commitment to AI's rapid development with that shared vision in mind!

My opinion.

Innovation is the AI game!

Companies and governments should rely on innovation from within or in cooperation with other countries and foreign companies in solving problems and creating spectacular change.

President Trump is right in encouraging "home grown" businesses to innovate and promote internal projects.  But he does not take seriously the importance of sharing ideas to achieve even greater significant, radical change--the kind of change those in AI tech research are finding occurring already, I understand.

In other words, government should encourage cooperation in developing new concepts and paths to greater economic and theoretical benefits.  Even as, in space development, those of many nations participate.  That sense of professional  comradery should be shared on earthly projects, too!

My opinion.

P.S.  The physicist Albert Einstein was an immigrant from Germany to United States, as I recall!

Ukrainians are bringing back elements that make corruption in government more like it was before the West's support for their country's independence.

The two governmental agencies that monitor the possibility of corruption in government are the NABU and the SAPO.  Both are under the direct control of the President, Mr. Zelensky.  It could be used to question any further support for this youthful citizenry unused to "clean" government, i.e., without bestowing special privileges that abuse democratic principles.

I would hope that investigations and prosecution would proceed as duly scheduled by the appropriate legal court without favoritism shown an accused beyond that to any citizen.

This morning, CNN is reporting the tech jobs market is undergoing a significant change because of AI requirements to work on its features.

A reporter for CNN job numbers is backing up what the firing of the Labor Commissioner that was reporting recent job figures seems correct.

AI, in short, is making tech requirements more stringent and tied to what the candidate in the tech field  knows of  AI!

They're talking about this permanent Tech Revolution--using robots and AI features--this morning on CNN.

We know what is the $64.000 question in the business world from now on: Who will win the trade war?

It seems to me, that President Trump has already determined that one of two parties who will ultimately be the winner is, as countries go, is the United States, the largest importer of goods--and the other, is China-- the largest exporter of goods (from Google's AI analysis).

Currently, the United States along with the other nations, are involved in making deals with trading partners to determine the "balance" between exports and imports with another trading nation in the context of all nations.   August 7, 2025 is the start of deals-in-force among those nations that have agreed upon a figure that applies to their situation with said trading partner.

We know one stipend of the winner to this war (as the business world stands today):  It will be either the United States or China.  And, even in this regard, the two countries, the United States and China, will come to be trading partners, with duty percentages levied upon a particular item being exported by the one and imported by the other, as expressly stated in a mutually drawn-up agreement.

My understanding.

The United States' search for rare metals, e.g., copper.

Slapping high tariffs on these mineral types might simply discourage mining in the country, knowing they will in any event be beholden to foreign countries for enough of these.

And, ultimately, the United States factories must strike a deal for them with China, its prime competitor, who has ample reserve of these.

It would seem appropriate, therefore, to encourage space probes, seeking the rare minerals beyond our earth and even past our solar system,  Tomorrow, there's another launch of a space ship that may be probing the moon for minerals, etc.

In the meantime, the wealthier countries on earth will continue to mine for these rare items here and hope that China will be generous enough to sell on the open market a plenteous supply!

Could drones be employed in schools to prevent student injuries?

Maybe with the fast action of drones in the air, flying about to stop persons from attacking school children in hallways and classrooms before anyone gets hurt, a way to prevent hostility occurring on school property that has been plaguing school authorities for nearly decades will finally protect the kids from invasive harm.

The TV has recently been carrying experimental demonstrations of what drones might do to end the problem.  And, having seen how fast acting they are, I think it might be the answer for which educators are needing but needing in a hurry!

My opinion.

Sunday, July 27, 2025

It looks President Trump is adopting Putin's Oligarchy-backing of the Russian government to the US by appealing to the rich here for backing of his '26 budget!

Wow!  No wonder President Trump hasn't applied strong pressure against the Putin regime for failing to resolve the Ukrainian War in favor of an independent Ukraine!  Most analysts of the "stalemate" on the battlefield, while providing ample opportunity for Russia to splatter ruins all over the land of Zelensky's Ukraine, is also enabling Russia to start a shadow war against the EU and NATO countries.

And, the Congress is letting this stalling from applying strong pressure from the White House to lean heavily against Russia's destructive aggression upon the Ukrainian cities.

The MSNBC Fareed Zakaria program today is filled with items of ominous signs looming over Europe, making clear Russian aggression actually entails the whole of Europe!

--My strong impression garnered from Chancellor Merz's call to Europe to "prepare arms!"

Thursday, July 24, 2025

Chancellor Merz of Germany should spark GDP growth in the defense industry of surrounding nations.

This may be a savior of Hungary and neighboring countries in Central Europe.  Sensing the need for growth as Germany prepares under NATO to withstand any hostility from Russia against the EU, Hungary and its neighbors may benefit from building infrastructure and fortifications in the region.  Only Poland of the group will likely be assured of a sound economy independently from serving the German defensive needs.

Russia and China between them have 15 bases in the South Atlantic for resources.

Evidently, the Panama Canal is drying up and so maritime traffic in the Pacific travels through the Strait of Magellan for safety and certainty.  Chinese fishing is conducted in the South Atlantic, near Argentina; and the Falklands is patrolled by the British maritime.

Sensing the strategic importance of the region for minerals, President Milei is seeking to upgrade his military force as preliminary to Argentina's possibly joining NATO.  (See the Economist, July 12th issue, pp.26 ff.)  The area is actively enshrouded with a military presence of several nations.

One wonders, is it the right time to replace the Panama Canal with yet another?  In the past, Nicaragua has been identified as a secondary location for pass-through one ocean to the other.  Be that as it may, Chinese presence may now control the movement of cargo traffic through the Panama (i.e., my impression based on having been there).

Wednesday, July 23, 2025

The Trump's Administration may have developed a model for negotiations with foreign countries in dealing with the Japanese!

Japan will invest in building infrastructure here in the States as well as going along with a tariff of Japanese items from Japan of some figure agreed upon.

Deals over tariffs are ongoing with other nations presently.  One such with the Philippines, recently, I understand.

The EU is in negotiations, presently, too, .

My opinion.

Carney. Trump observe about 91% of goods passing between Canada and US should be tariff free.

It is thought a 50% on aluminum and steel will be imposed at entry point to US.

Indonesia trade talks went smoothly, according to President Trump.

President Trump has re-geared the country to turn out manufactured items but is he sure he has all the minerals to start with?

That's why we have seen him run around the world in search of rare minerals to manufacture with!

He's gone to Africa to get rare minerals, and especially he must be happy about China generously offering from its  rich supply.  Then too, he's found countries scattered about, willing to establish their factories in the USA, even if ones here are add-ons to those  elsewhere.

That is to say, within the space of just a few months, he has come away with commitments from major companies to build a factory here--whether or not they continue to maintain a factory someplace else!

So, his plan of bringing back manufacturing to the United States after sending some companies abroad during a re-tooling phase in the States is working, as companies bring their factories back to the States, the retooling phase being nearly over.

The basics of a manufacturing plan has been instituted in these United States!

My opinion.

In our nation's capitol, we need to place fed people in business sites!

We need more involvement of the DC environs people in the business community.

I say this after working in close proximity--yes, living among them for over 7 years, helping them out occasionally, maybe more than they would like!--but for the good of creating comradery of two types (business and government), getting involved together in working together--not all the time but on a consulting basis from our different perspectives--capable of making informed suggestions and comments.

I can see there's need to bring in that other perspective, viz., that of government into the business world.  Look how the computer field has taken off because of such close interaction and showing concern from  another, but related, perspective.  The military doing exhaustive testing in creating model code paradigms.

Just so, fed career people meddling in business transactional outlays.

My opinion is it's very useful from that other perspective.

P.S. I've had neighbors come up to me and thank me that the "Fed's" are among; us and it's made a difference in how they feel about the area.  And it just keeps going on, "that way (even from the cops that patrol here)!"

Wednesday, July 16, 2025

Looks like President Trump has found a way to look as if our suppliers are paying more for our imports!

What is even more shocking, he's able to get more in fed coppers for the illegal entry of drug traffic into the US from Mexico!   That is, he's charging for a recognized illicit trade in drugs--making a moral leap!

He's making a business connection between a "deal" in merchandise and it's moral evaluation to society!

The man is going to revolutionize business by placing a moral worth to social transactions!

WOW!  Religion has relevance to business, after all.

My opinion.

Congress is out to end the futile wars: Supplying our allies through NATO, wherein Ukraine is storing up for battle!

Why does Brazil want to enter as a contestant?  To help President Putin, when President Zelensky is leading the world into a new era of arms and warfare?

President Trump is leading the West to a peaceful termination of fruitless expenditure of human life on the battlefield and environs; the leaders in European countries are paving the way for Zelensky to succeed.

And finally, a two-state solution in the Middle East seems nearly within reach--Israel tempering its revenge-emotions for the sake of a peaceful resolution of years of conflict.

Fareed Zakaria's Amazing analysis of American politics today broadcast on CNN!

Most important:  President Trump has abandoned his voting block by forcing the poor to pay for the grandiose bonanza he's promising in his 2026 approved budget to American rich and business prosperous.  Even the businesses of moderate means are going to go poor!  It looks like he's catering to the very wealthy and BIG!

If this is enacted as it stands, the Maga-poor will be sent out to dry!  They will likely turn away from their leaders--certainly, the Republicans, but then again the Democrats, too.  President Trump will live in history as the "President who deserted his voting public!"

This evaluation is further reinforced by the specifics of his budget bill in the recent issues of the Economist especially, the July 5th issue, 2025.

The time for our leaders to be listening to our reporters and news analyses is NOW.

My opinion.  Hats off to Mr. Zakaria for an outstanding program of political analysis, including AI development--the other great analysis offered today.

If a tariff deal with Canada were to become so obviously fair, many other countries might buy into the concept!

President Trump has been arguing for the tariffs to make sure every country gets a fair deal as an outcome.

Perhaps, if President would offer a tariff package that Canada, our closest trading partner, could not refuse to take, it would start a flurry of acceptances.  After all, if the country has does a lot of trade with the United States is willing to go along with a tariff deal, it must bear the stamp of "good will" of Trump's proposal for equity of the deal-makers to those as deal acceptors.

But is it that Canada understands that the tariff deal United States is proposing is a fair deal for, specifically for Canadian business?

Our friends of the United States understand we're for justice as fairness in our dealings in trade and commerce--surely!

Canadians know us to be we are worthy of their trust, simply because they know us well!

M23 controls the greater, much greater minerals resources of the area, presently.

Deal with them, I would suppose.

You're making progress!

Interesting, Russia's enabler of its war machine is China!

See the Economist June 21st issue, p. 36: "Since the start of the war in 2022, China has trodden carefully in providing military aid to Russia." (regarding the war with Ukraine)

Among examples, the editors cite "critical components of weaponry and civilian drones."

The editors point to other ways that China has assisted its friend, Russia!  Summarizing, "Russia's defense industry would be crippled." (p.37)

South Korea's new President is encouraging the semiconductor world to enter the AI world!

President Lee is behind his techs 100% in pioneering a new chip with high-band-width memory (HBM) for use in generative artificial intelligence.  He apparently is part of the new generation of chips.

The competition is keen, to be sure.

My opinion.

In Haiti's Port-au-Prince dangerous drones, flying overhead, give welcome sign "Help is on its way!"

Local citizenry cannot help but look above at drones hovering about eying gang members as targets for round-up in the capital city all-out campaign.

But they fear the police may be breaking international law as to the situations in which they are being used.  Nevertheless, they are a welcome site around their homes and grocery stores!

The Economist reports (the June 21st issue, p. 27), in 2024, over 5,000 Haitians died in gang-related violence.  Central government has a problem calling for the drones unless they are handled by professional police or soldiers.

The buster-bombs having been dropped, it's time for another round of talks, is it?

"We have on the table a solicitation of a request for Prime Minister Netanyahu's pardon, as an order of business to be taken up, and a plea for a pause in the battle between warring parties, Israel, Iran, and the United States, while each military group prepares for the next stage of armed conflict."

Be it noted, President Trump does not anticipated any nuclear bombs will be involved, Iran having experienced a setback in time to fashion a nuclear response to the destruction of the infrastructure needed for its construction of a nuclear bomb.

But the project continues underground in Iran by the Islamic Republic.

More likely will be Saudi Arabia's working on newly formulated projects to create and store electricity for use in a nuclear world, in conjunction with the United States and the free world.

Monday, June 23, 2025

Important meeting in the Oval Office today.

With a genius in military cheap armament manning Ukraine's strength in cleverness against a Russian reluctant soldiery, President Zelensky; and the spectacular showing Israeli pounding of Iranian targets, backed up by the sound military precision of American stealth over Iranian skies, Trump may seriously be considering replacement of the Iranian government, much as has taken place recently in Syria.

Not to mention that the Saudis must be calling on the phone to encourage our President to proceed with plans that might coalesce into a unified Iranians citizenry support for regime change, given what seems as if, a battered high echelon in Teheran.  Something to consider.

But where is Congress pertaining to such a bold move at this time?  Especially, when the President is still making trade deals to include his tariff--a time-consuming business?

My opinion.

Sunday, June 22, 2025

Evidently, President Trump wasn't in the mood to play the "bauble game, right now."

He had seen how often former Presidents and their Administrations had been lulled by words about the marvels of the Iranian nuclear project which had amassed so much nuclear stuff, but lacked the final urge to make a nuclear bomb.

And, evidently, he got tired of hearing all the wonders the stuff will do once fitted into the carrier of a bomb.  Too much hype for him!

Once, he became President, he began to formulate a plan to take the bomb-matter on--before it ever became a bomb to threaten world peace.  He was not to give the Iranians an opportunity to use all that nuclear material they had spent years amassing, yet still eliciting appreciation of the sites where it-all was, housed under the ground by some awe-struck Iranians.

So, he worked with the US military to devise a plan called "Operation Midnight Hammer" to go a-calling.

On June 21, thereabouts, the US dropped the operation's payload on the accumulated nuclear stuff, that had brought a sense of wonderment in the eyes of those who pondered what the stuff might eventually do.

"Operation Midnight Hammer" was successfully executed by the United States Military after President Trump gave the OK.  The President thereupon thanked the United States Military for their professional competence.

Not much nuclear bomb material left in Iran to ponder over, today.

My opinion.

Investors in the United States are in need right now. Will ballooning the debt bring the US administration to the realization that people are satisfied with health care priorities?

People believe in science, but does the Trump administration want to let people live by their preferences?

The Scandinavian countries are setting the pace for the US administration to learn from.  The citizenry want to live long!  Not die at 55!

The Morning Joe Show and the Economist in print demonstrates, e.g., current issue,  the Administration is at the crossroads.  Manufacturing is just not enough GDP for significant growth in expansion of the economy.

I hope the federal administration is listening.  The path to peace is available still.

My opinion favors the American economists and the peoples of the United States that call for immediate expansion of science and the innovation that follows.  We are on the cusp of longer life in the States!

Iranians chant, "Death to America!" Iran, despite years away from being able to construct a nuclear bomb, stirs hostility and chaos in the Middle East.

But they are in the neighborhood where there are those who know how to deliver such a destructive weapon:  Russia, China, N. Korea--no friends to the Western World.

President Donald Trump has envisioned for nigh 10 years the end to nuclear warfare in the hands of those who would destroy democracy and Western culture.

Is he the one who assure that reason and the rule of law shall be guiding principles of existence by taking the radical military weaponry out of the hands of those who could engineer the termination of life on this Earth!

May such leaders of prominence in our modern world be imbued with courage to stand for justice and freedom to heed the call and lead us into an epoch of lasting peace for centuries to come!

I pray for a lasting peace in the world.  May our leaders establish such a peace; and instill a calmness in the hearts of us who long for it.

President Trump seeks rare minerals that China has aplenty!

He's ready to mine ore of these in the Ukraine; but is met with competition from Qatar for them in the Congo.  He must seemingly have to also deal with Rwanda's dictator, Mr. Paul Kagame, Congo's next-door neighbor with its M23 military group. Yet, because of ties with Israel, Rwanda's help in swaying the Congo to make its precious minerals available to the US, may be assured for semiconductors made in the USA.

I think President Trump may hold to a theory of why US is so great that is not widely held.

He thinks there is something about the race that have settled in the Western world--perhaps, something special about the white race.  And so, he wants to keep other cultures in supportive positions.

Contraposed, is the position that what is so special, is that the United States welcomes persons from any culture to come, live with us.  "Aren't you afraid of the stranger in your midst?"  Well, we are protected by security forces--police and military.

Traditionally, the youth are drawn to study in American universities.  Scholars in their field not only do research in academe. but teach and mentor within the university setting.  The United States' academic world attracts scholars the world over!  A mecca for the exchange of ideas and the pursuit of truth and knowledge!

We are witnessing a reaction against the university system in the United States, I believe, because it has been so successful in attracting thinkers to join the community of scholars at universities in the United States--to share ideas and plans with others similarly minded.  And the Stock Market housed on Wall Street is close by, filled with capitalists looking to back monetarily profitable projects with business possibilities.

If I understand the racist position, they are not eager to open the doors of the country to foreigners while the history of the country is replete with waves of welcoming the stranger--so as to learn from him or her; or simply, exchange ideas.

That is to say, advocates of a race theory are not as prone to look to strangers for ideas, some of which become financially profitable through business enterprises.

Now, AI is just being developed.  AI requires much energy to operate; and so presently, the backers of AI projects must be persons of wealth or have available a lot of cash to run their analyses of voluminous data.  So it is likely that entrepreneurs are ahead of AI developers with ready cash available before worthy projects are identified and begun.

Such is the situation, as I see it: bankers and insurance companies being approached to see whether there's interest to help back AI analytic projects in order to identify profitable businesses that develop new lines of business enterprises.

My opinion.

On Morning Joe Show, US generals (retired) expressed that Russia is showing signs of a tottering economy!

It may be opening its bowels over consternation that it, Russia, does not know how to approach a negotiating table to talk terms of peace with a country it has little regard for!  After all, it has spent its military might the last few weeks in trying to repulse its 3-year old fighting enemy.

Just as it began its aggressive actions entering Ukrainian territory featuring tanks bogged down in the soil, so now Russia does not know how to approach a table pitted against the West with President Zelensky, innovator of drone warfare, being a lead negotiator for the West's team.

In point of fact, President Putin has led his oligarchic business group down a path of ignominy; and along with the Russian populace.  Don't be fooled by his maneuvers to save face!

My opinion.  Thanks to the US military backing of brilliant leadership in President Zelensky.

Mr. Cuomo of the News of the Nation points to the phenomenal rise in Army recruitment to show our country's dedication to democracy.

Will the nation stand with our brothers and sisters in the Ukraine fight to retain democracy for centuries to come?

Here is the President of Ukraine developing drone warfare and novel tactics in battle against a fierce Russian outpouring of their military might night after night of sirens blaring all over the cities of their homeland.  And will the United States join with the NATO nations to supply the Ukrainians with the armaments of battle to withstand attacks, and in harm's way, have the courage to move against the aggressor?  The Ukrainians are fighting to withstand annihilation and disparate to save their State.

May they be given what they need to maintain their independence among the free nations of the world.

Amen.

May God bless them and give them strength.

On CNN just now, Investor Kevin O'Leary assures the investors like him that President Trump is still controlling his one beautiful budget!

TV personality and stock market guru Kevin O'Leary got to the CNN microphone minutes ago to assess the chances of the President's budget passing Congressional scrutiny with a resounding Move on!

After carefully reading the bill, O'Leary concluded that Elon Musk isn't familiar with how they talk in Washington, DC: "Get used to it, fellow Republican Musk!"

And that's how things go where the Oval Office resides in the White House.  (To be continued.)

The US Courts are claiming, apparently, that the Administration must work with Congress to set tariff standards.

Business, in particular the Stock Exchange, is looking for stability in the method of applying tariff per country.

Is that too much by way of claiming that the tariff, as it is being applied now by the Trump people, is too arbitrary and leaves the business world in a quandary as to how the tariff particular amounts are arrived at.  Currently, any tariff percentage seems stands open to the charge of being the product of one man, viz., the President!

Specifically, business wants to know who--what institution--has been charged with overseeing the deployment of tariffs?

My opinion: there are no wizards!

I'm an old man, but I live among the human race creatures!

Like babies and young people, we do human things like urinate and defecate.

That means, others of any age may be able to smell us and not relate to us, because they don't smell differently--like those of us who are not very old or very young.

Does that mean that we have to be put in a nursing home?  Only if we can't move around by ourselves, i.e., lost mobility.

So, if you come into my room, you may occasionally catch an odor of urine--slight, but noticeable through the means of discerning noses.  That means, "I'm old, but mobile and conversant, i.e., can talk intelligently; and I still display human characteristics."

Therefore, let me live among you!  Don't cast me aside, because I sometimes, inevitably, show my age.

My opinion.

US shouldn't ignore Russia's buildup of arms, munitions and soldiers.

And please note that President Xi just visited Russia!

The Economist has followed the Russian buildup, especially since several Russian airports have been hit recently with Ukrainian-sent drones (see its May 10th issue, p. 18 especially).  It notes that the Omsk tank plant, a large tank facility is upgrading old tanks, working round-the-clock; that its center for military research has 3 work shifts daily in Biysk.

Russia turns out 1,500 tanks; US just 135 and none to be used in fighting, claims the magazine.

Why the vast turnout of armor to add to its stockpile?  Are they expecting war with NATO?

My opinion based on the findings of Russian preparation for something soon, as reported in the Economist!

P.S.  Might the Russian oligarchs given Putin a command--say, "End this conflict with Ukrainians and take their country fast!  Move onto the NATO countries!"  (I just wonder, why the build-up haste?  After all, Russia has put up with 3 years of somewhat a Ukrainian stalemate.)

Religion gives humanity hope to press on into an uncertain future!

The Haitians are not doomed to live under the conditions of social chaos.  They need the help of Nations who want peace and the rule of law and justice for all.

Religion offers an exercise of human will to prevent our falling into the hands of demagogues and aristocracies that want frail lords to commands their brothers and sisters of the world.  We know their kind and must express our revulsion at their evil deeds to control others for personal and the meting of selective favors to a few over promoting the good welfare of society.

Thank God that Saudi Arabia is taking a responsible leadership role in the Middle East.  And Syria may do likewise, soon!  The presence of the Jews in the area is evidently having an effect for good--adding a powerful force to the Muslim tradition.

The Episcopal faith in union with other faiths in Christianity will survive in some fashion; but it is a sign of the times that Christianity is losing members among formal religions.  Nevertheless, the cries of the oppressed will be heard, awakening religion always to the travail in human, everyday living.  The spirit of love for our brothers and sisters continues to spur those whom it calls to do their great works in helping others.

My opinion.

Former VP Kamala Harris is a "natural" to enter California politics in a time when the state faces economic crises!

To deal with the banks should be a major task of the next governor of California.

Her primary skill added to the Biden team was to get Biden's economic agenda passed into law, a job she did admirably.

If California is her home, she'll jump at the opportunity to serve her state in a time it is confronted with economic challenges, especially with the banking industry!

Good luck, Ms. Harris.  The state needs you, and your skills!

Chinese Muslim Communities need food and clothing!

These are the supposed dregs of China, but actually are a vibrant community and power source for the government.

Trade with China, I hear reports, is at a real-time low.  Please see what you can do--how you can save these people.

President Xi doesn't see how valuable they are, especially to the West.

My opinion.

P.S. I'm working on my health with the medical teams at GWU Hospital.  Very helpful people to me.

Sunday, May 11, 2025

Periodically. I spend time to review my projects and plot new directions.

And that includes when I'm unfortunately in the hospital.

It's a chance to ask the question, "How am I doing in x-project, in y-project; in z-project?"

Change in direction, in handling some project I'm dedicating time and energy to, is just part of living in society.

So, I try to utilize time to advantage of progress being pursued in my projects.

My opinion.

P.S.  The plan of mulling over how well I'm doing is working well, still.

Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, presented a sound defense of Trump's disgust with a country's protecting certain home industries on CNN's "State of the Union" today!

The Trump team should use it in defending why Donald Trump is President.  We need forward looking Presidents who push our industrial products world-wide!

I think, that is, Trump could use Lutnick's argument in promoting his insistence on tariff imposition with other countries and for the United States' promulgating them.

Lutnick demonstrates why he's the Secretary of Commerce at this crucial time.

My opinion.

Finally, India is loosening its grip on the Kashmir!

By rights, Kashmir belongs with Pakistan.  President Modi "hates the Muslims; and Kashmir is Muslim/  He discriminates against the Muslims throughout his rule; and continues.

I am glad there is possibly an opportunity to right the wrong of India's control of the Kashmir.

My opinion.

China hasn't taken Taiwan! Talks on trade are underway with China phenomenally early! Be kind, President Trump: this is the moment!

Indications I've received is their economy is in bad shape, with little light above ground!

What they need now is sound terms with someone who knows he is need of help from the US., namely, President Xi.

My opinion.

P.S.  Good luck in Switzerland!

Just when Taiwan needs support to deny President Xi of his vision, President Trump is posturing the US in a trading war with China!

Will President Trump send troops to stand by our friends in Taiwan to guarantee their independence?

Will we be in some other effort to increase the supply of goods from China that will take precedence?

Taiwan, I aver, needs us to ward off the Chinese government from any attempt to take Taiwan!!

My opinion.

President Trump, the container ships to American shores are light!

What with "Reciprocal" tariffs imposed on China and our allies to a lesser degree, economists are predicting a deep recession!  Playing with the economy at stake is not a sustainable foreign policy!  Already there are news reports that goods on container ships headed for US consumers are light.

This is a time of concern and a time of action to prevent a recession in our economy of major proportions.

The ships are coming and their cargo headed for customer shelves here is light!

It's no joke if United States goes through rough economic times.  Our allies will become at best leaderless, left to swim for safety in rough waters caused by the trade war.

Lead us to prosperity, forestall calamity from our  shores!  He was talking of modest tariffs, such as 10%,  now with China he's gone wild in his impositions.

Draw back for the sake of our allies and ourselves!!

My opinion.

Announcing over mass media: Israelis about to seize control of the Gaza Strip from the Palestinians!

Where will the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip be forced to go?  Possibly, wherever the Israelis will allow them to go.

This seems a breakdown in organized Muslim unity!

Two million Palestinians abandoned--whose fate may be directed by foreigners!

The same will happen to the Palestinians of the West Bank.

Mankind deserting their own!  Echoes of the Holocaust human-tragedy?

My opinion.

P.S. LET US ALSO KEEP MEMORY OF THE TRAGEDY IN THE SUDAN OCCURRING NOW!

At the Sedona Forum, Senator Whitehouse argues for the Senate's Carbon Reform Bill before Congress.

The bill will curb the difficulties in turning to carbon sources of energy.

Senator Whitehouse (D, Rhode Island) is concerned that if we don't pass this bill, we may be headed to financial disaster in the States!

He makes a lot of sense.  The Forum is being carried by C-SPAN today.

President Trump is painting our descendants as thieves, murderers, and escapees from Mental Hospitals--it seems to me!

Yes, I've heard reports from my parents that my grandfather on my mother's side stole away from Poland on a ship bound for the good-old USA.  He became a grocery store owner for years here in the States, and a father of many female kids.

And the real point is, how many of you are descendants of foreign-born migrants?  And how many of those descendants were criminals abroad where they came from?  What a lot of nonsense!  Just ask clerics of various religions who work with migrants get settled here; and various organizations dedicated to help them get acclimated.

How soon we forget our past heritage, we--who live the better life so many of them longed to give their offspring!

My opinion.

P.S. Both sides of my family were immigrants to the States!  Why do so many bring with them new ideas and ways of doing things.  I seem to recall, one of the great immigrants to our country was Albert Einstein!

To The Gazans of Palestine and the West Bank Palestinians, too. And to the Disapora of Jews!

Fareed Zakaria on his "GPS" Sunday Show has come out for a old man long in Prison in Israel (I think) to be a new leader.

I would have the Palestinians of the region to alight upon a ruling party of their own choosing.

But--someone in the demeanor of a "Martin Luther King Jr." type.  Definitely, a Muslim, I would argue!

I already have confidence, the Palestinians would welcome someone with top morals identity, even an imam.  Someone from the USA?

My opinion.

A Clarification of the differences in meanings of 'effectuate' by Administration and by the Judiciary: my opinion

After listening to Senator Klobuchar's argument on the meanings of "effectuate" as used by the Administration versus used by the Judiciary (on CNN's Sunday program "State of the Nation" today), it seems to me the disagreement stems from the appropriate synonym of the term in the context each governmental organ means by it.

"Effectuate" in the Administration's sense of the term refers to "the implementation in the change in action the directive is demanding;" whereas the Judiciary is using it to "make a substantial change in the thing or person to undergo the change ordered."

To put it succinctly, in the Administration's use, there is no change in the status of the person being proposed by the directive of the Courts, but in the Judiciary sense, the directive suggests a reversal of the status the thing or person has now to what it was before.  For importantly, the President of El Salvador accepts the use of "effectuate" as offered by the Administration.  The mistake was to change his status from "living in the United States--not to be transported back to El Salvador for sake of his security," thereby omitting that he had left life in El Salvador, seeking a new life here.

My interpretation.

Weather's changing in DC: Many more cloudy days.

I've been noticing that while the weather isn't rainy, the sky is filled with clouds for days on end!

This could be a good thing to  prevent skin cancer, but how does it affect the growing of crops, and what we construe as normal weather patterns?  Especially, that the clouds remain in the sky for consecutive days on end?

Is this a reason to call for reducing the earth's temperature and end the use of fossil fuels?  Seems in might.

My opinion based on my observations.

P,S.  And the Southeast-US is being hammered with rain!

An Economist poll of Syrians show citizenry support for President Ahmed al-Sharaa to rebuild the country.

Yes, there is still violence and differences among them, but overall they are glad he has assumed the Presidency of their country after Mr. Assad left the country for Russia and President Putin's welcome.

And, despite Mr. al-Shara's troubled career with the jihadists, he has appointed as ministries in his interim government representatives from the favored Alawite sect, as well as a Christian, a Druze and a Kurd.  As a forthright pluralist, he urges unity among his people, whatever sects they belong to.

Reported in the Economist, April 5 issue, pp. 34 ff., the people are behind him!  But there is much to do to bring about a functioning nation.  Not to mention the condition of the Gaza Strip!

My opinion.

A Bank learns how to find a responsible re-payer!

China, with its loan program to do infrastructure upgrades for African countries, learned the countries it loaned the money for the work projects was hard to get from their African payees without coming back to make additional loans to cover interest for late payments, etc.

Now, in South America, one country in particular has had a long history of working with the IMF, the International Monetary Fund, in getting money loaned to Argentina repaid.  According to the Economist, April 5th Issue, 2025, the current President of this country established a running record to prove his worthiness to be trusted to yet another loan.  President Javier Milei showed the Bank that he was not like former presidents by presenting the austerity program in effect in the country to indicate his good faith in wanting to repay what is due: "Mr. Milei's first deal will be Argentina's 23rd."(p. 62)

Clearly, Mr. Milei had to prove himself worthy of the trust the Bank would have to show that he truly is a  man of his word.  He must be a spendthrift, belt-tightening individual with someone else's money.  And this President came through with a proposal he steadfast followed, along with his people, that proved his financial mettle and economic leadership.

"Far better to give Mr. Milei firepower to remove Argentina from the IMF's books."  Comments the Economist, "Mr. Milei has earned it."(bold type, mine).

My opinion.

Does everyone understand that industries must go through retooling (=adjusting to new technology and new wants of consumer groups)

The United States, during the Nixon years, has opened the opportunity to China, because of their development of supply chains, to become competitive in the modern, contemporary world.  That was welcomed both in China, as a way to play catch up with the West, and to enable Western plants and industries to get rid of what has become passe methods and take on the most advanced methods being currently developed at computer centers, now including those in the East--China, Taiwan, Japan and Australia, etc.--i.e., GLOBALLY.

Retooling was anticipated years and years ago by those who established the computer revolution, the culmination of which is embodied in Artificial Intelligence Research and its practical applications, being developed right now.

Retooling represents changes in industry but is also a cultural phenomenon: witness how "dated" some shopping malls are even today, each one virtually time-stamped as to decade by when each was considered "contemporary."  Look at downtown Houston's vacancy list!

Whereas retooling took a long time years ago, today--once a capitol source is involved, the process can start to reconstruct a factory.  Not that long.  But it is naive for business to think it can prosper without having control of the business from its very inception and dedication of the property to be the headquarters of the enterprise to its finished product, linked by supply chains.

Now then,  President Trump is saying that the United States ought to be significantly in with other countries where a finished product is distributed and sold.  The issue of fairness arises as to where a process was performed by workers at a specific address within a locale of a particular country: It should be determined the cost of the process to be meted out as an expense, per process' evaluation.  I take it he is also claiming that United States has not received for the company processes in making and selling the finished item performed at the company's locations due or equitable compensation, which includes profit and wages, at locations in the United States, where the process was performed.  The government's take for providing services to enable the company to conduct its business at the address within the boundaries of the United States is within the scope of assessing the tariff charged at port of entry where the product is to be sold.

The issue of amount to be charged as a tariff is particular glaring in respect to agriculture.  France, for example, highly prizes its wines, though other countries today may produce just as comparable wines, in the estimation of the consumer, as the French.  Someone of Trump's persuasion, e.g., living in the United States might claim that Napa Wines are of similar quality; and may object to being charged more for French wines.  That's the rub!  The United States as importer determines the amount of the tariff the consumer must pay.

President Trump uses the tariff mechanism to bring about parity of wines, despite that farmers of France and farmers of California may loudly and vociferously disagree.  It is the so-called "reciprocity of tariff."

My interpretation of President's fundamental argument (in my opinion).

Morning Joe people on MSNBC this morning are sounding the alarm that Musk cuts hit hard the snap program and the farmers who support it.

President Trump says his administration is for the farming community, yet he slashes programs like SNAP and the children's lunch and snack programs.  There is no compassion to the Musk slayer of social programs!

Meanwhile, President Putin indiscriminately slashes energy sources to the cities and byways of Ukraine, while President Trump seeks control of nuclear sources in Ukraine.  It's easy to him who has Mr. Musk at his side, apparently.

Have mercy, Oh Potentate!

My opinion.

Incoming German Chancellor Merz calls for talks with UK and France to supplement the US "American nuclear shield."

The United States has proffered a nuclear umbrella to protect Europe.  How this would work in practice is merely a matter of discussion, not anything more.  Nevertheless, it is stirring discussion among the European giants to ponder mutual joint-efforts of European nation in consort.  Talk of joint exercises among France and Sweden; building submarines as a sort of joint-project between France and England.  One can imagine these things in practical terms.

Such joint maneuvers are possible.  The Economist discusses its implications for a united Europe beyond EU, possibly.  See its discussion in the March 18th issue, pp. 48ff.   Drones with shared missions, for example..

Worth a ponder!  My opinion.

A boom in European defense stocks, a falling dollar means strength in European preparedness for whatever is in the offing!

Despite President Trump's imposed tariffs, "Most analysts still predict some growth, but a few expect a recession." (The Economist, March 15th issue, 2025, p.62ff)

Europe is predicted to increase its defense spending, especially Germany.  Thinking on the Continent is to "rearm quickly in order to repel Russia." (p. 63)

Despite criticism of some major world powers, the International Criminal Court stands for justice and due process.

On March 11, the former President of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, was arrested and taken to the Hague, Netherlands to await trial--purporting crimes against humanity during his Presidency.

The Court's actions is a reminder that records of inhumane treatment on the world stage will not be forgotten.  People of goodwill carry on a never-ending fight against evil in this world.

Georgia--the country--might team up with Ukraine to find out from the EU how far along they both are to EU membership. Or, increased trade with EU countries.

Membership in the EU has trading and business connections that spell jobs and placement.

Joining would mean access to supply-chains from around the world and give bargaining and transactional advantages in commerce.  At least. for business connections joining with Ukraine to stay in touch with the West seems expanding your horizons in the business and industrial worlds.

You'd be meeting with business people travelling around in your vicinity, too.

My suggestion.

I understand that the Saudis have a group from the Arab League prepared to enter the Gaza Strip.

The purpose--to examine the conditions and to work toward resolving the humanitarian aid issues to the Palestinians living there.

Is there some problem in their entering the Gaza strip territory as a fact-finding group for a few days?  Perhaps, my awareness of their progress is not up-to-date.

I hope their mission can be accomplished, somehow.

My query and opinion.

The Muslim imam ought to be leading by prayer and the Koran in the Middle East conflict.

In other words, the Islamic Palestinians are lacking a Martin Luther King Jr.--great religious figure--who led the blacks in his day in the quest for justice, peace and joy.

We need imams at the head of the Muslim leadership with their prayers and  Korans!

My opinion.

Tonight, no cease-fire in Gaza. NGOs estimate 330 Gazans killed from airstrikes. PM Netanyahu is on a rampage.

Can't someone tell Netanyahu the gig may be up for him!  There have to be some Jews in Israel that can control the Jewish troops.

This is heinous!  No justice in the Israeli courts apparently; and murdering kids and mothers is barbaric.

Can't the religious Iranians exert Muslim calm?  Where are the Inmans to step in?  Muslims, may you pray to God for the sos salvation from the bombing.

My opinion.

Big, Big Item! Lab-food already available for human consumption.

UK will be carrying lab-food in 2 years.  I would think it will be tried first in grocery markets as a novelty item!

In 2020, the BBC reports, Singapore made available meats grown in factory vats for sale.  I understand several European countries have been already experimenting with the phenomenon--especially, companies in Finland.

Initially, lab-food was limited to dog foods to eat heartily.  I guess the dogs liked it, as demonstrated by their dripping saliva upon being presented with it, likely attested to by their owners.

Anyway, it could be used in African countries as an alternative to regular foods, e.g., sugar, meat, and dairy products for human consumption right now.

Indeed, with so many humans today going hungry the world over, e.g., in the Gaza Peninsula and the Sudan, the turning to nutritious products grown in small chemical plants comes just in the nick of time!

My opinion.

I have a hunch the Russian mothers are losing their kids--to war and to emigration! They're tired of it!

Intelligence will know for sure, but there's rumors about how Russians feel.  Mother opinions count!

My opinion.

P.S.  Has anybody read the startling comments of John Bolton?  Just saw.

Is the Russian Oligarchy aware of the strides European technology in producing lab-food alternatives?

Eventually, Finland could lead the world in adopting this mode of eating.  A major break-through in technology--probably.

That could be a promising avenue for uniting the region in world-wide entrepreneur transactions.

I first heard of it in my connections with local think-tanks--especially, Brookings.

My opinion.

President Zelensky together with NATO need to make a deal with Russia!

The deal will entail committing Ukrainian boats to harass Soviet ships travelling through lanes in the Black Sea area.  Currently, NATO member countries' ships, I understand, are being harassed as they traverse the Black Sea routes.

Ukraine knows how to harass those ships bearing the Russian flag, inflicting serious results upon its fleet.

Zelensky could promise not to attack the Russian fleet in the Black Sea areas, nor permit its soldiers to occupy Russian territories.  This might require NATO's commitment to come to the aid of Ukraine, should the understanding I am suggesting, be in effect between the two parties--NATO and Ukraine and Russia but if Russia fails to live up to its terms, viz, to no longer harass NATO-member shipping.

This deal would be among Russia on one side and Ukraine and NATO on the other.

My opinion.

P.S. It should be intolerable that members of NATO are needing to put up with such annoying behavior by the Russian fleet!

Under President Trump, US will continue its tradition in demonstrating the theoretical world of knowledge has a myriad of applications.

The US has been known through the past Century as turning the theoretical into practical, money- making ideas!  That's how we expanded train service into nearly every area of the country and beyond through such industrial moguls as a J. D. Rockefeller, who did just that!

Now, President Trump, it appears, is girding the country's major industries to make America great again by encouraging the business entrepreneurs of industry to locate their factories in good-old USA, wherein the theoretical are translated for the everyday practical world.  Already, TV has familiarized family watchers to the concept in the widely circulated show Shark, where inventors seek financial backing that demonstrates a basic physical concept has just another application in daily life.

In America, its the community college movement, begun in Illinois in the early 1900s, that became the training ground for workers in industry to be trained in particular applications of scientific knowledge.  Hence, the idea of a toothbrush could be mass produced, adhering to knowledge in oral hygiene and the preventing of tooth decay.

Generally, individuals are trained to become workers of this dental industry in local community colleges, of which the United States has countless; or workers may receive on-the-job education in their first job within this industry.

But nowadays, there's so much scientific knowledge with practical applications, they'll build a lot more industrial parks with many more factories, of course--in the USA.  And watch these moguls* count their cash earnings; and their workers will do the same thing, using their wages, too!

My opinion.

They're pestering my health aide and her health care agency!

I leave it to you guys.

But everything is going well.  I'm getting good support, especially as I become more noticeable.

Today, I say hello to her health care agency for a periodic visit.  What a help my health aide is.

I'm working well.

A Fiasco occurring in the Senate this afternoon!

The way the Doge Committee is proceeding isn't Constitutional!  Why is this going on--the procedure whereby the President's committee presents its budget that alters the one of a Congressional budget so that all that is left for Congress to do is sign off on the hacked version of its own decided version.  That's not how the procedure is done under our Constitution!  How dare the President proceed--throwing to this Administration to decide what and how much each line item budget item should be!

The problem is that the Doge Committee should, for each proposal to change the budget of a line item, have been to the appropriate Congressional committees dealing with that line item.  And votes are taken in Committees whether costs are justified.  Let the persons from those line item submissions be given a chance to justify the line item as was given to the Committees initially.  And let those items that fail Congress' vote on the justification of the line item be determined after such justification is presented at its committee level.

In other words all this should be addressed from the Doge Committee to appropriate committee Chairman of the budgetary committees so as those who submitted to Congress their particular line item. In other words, this slash budget committee is submitting its hacked version TOO LATE to alter the budget: it should have been presented to where each line item is developed in each Congressional committee.

And the Doge Committee is too late, in my opinion, because it's members were acting on behalf of the President.  Obviously, they thought if they just came with their slashing, they could ignore the relevancy of the work of Congress in developing each of the budget items, giving the people who need the money to carry on or start some program, a chance to justify their point of view.

Congress, you still have the right to claim that which the Constitution demands of you.  Know who submitted the proposed line item, and their reasoning for the money presented to you.  GIVE THE PUBLIC A CHANCE TO DEFEND THEIR NECESARY MONEY LEVEL.

Occurring in Senate Chambers right now, somewhat spontaneously, is, Senator after after senator offers specific reasons that justify some line item in its budget version.  But these Senators might not know the specifics of our defensive posture in countries the world over.  Nor is one chamber of Congress, necessarily final version that Congress will submit.

I'm listening to Senator Schumer right now and he says in substance it's not too late.  He'll still be in there fighting!

My opinion.

This is a Great Day! Our founding fathers paved the way by emphasizing THE RULE OF LAW, proclaimed in the US Constitution!

Will the Rule of Law prevail?

Today, the federal Courts are called upon to reinforce what our Constitution means, both in the past and in the present.

For therein, in the words of the Constitution of the United States, are granted to us the freedom from any tyranny or oligarch--viz, that which would impose upon us its alien demands upon our human nature.

Some US generals have urged that Ukraine hold out for the Crimean Peninsula--some portions of it--in exchange for what Ukraine has taken of Russian territory.

If President Trump could hold out for some sliver of this Peninsula, according to our generals, it would have a good chance of remaining independent from the Russian Bear.

To my mind, President Zelensky has done yeoman service for Europe and the United States in carrying the battle to Russia for so long a time.  It would be great if the West could enhance Ukraine's chances of remaining independent and free.

My opinion.

P.S.  I've listened in on some of these discussions of our generals and found them to be convincing to hold onto the Crimea, as much as they need.  It's the prime location that is its major feature.

There's a rush to be nuclear as fusion techniques are researched and fission produces electricity with some carbon residue.

Countries that are wanting to use nuclear technology to product electricity with some carbon residue or are preparing to make use of the fusion method to produce electricity with no carbon leftover are upping the demand for uranium significantly.

Some physicists in Iran are ready to supplant the burning of coal with its nuclear program to produce weaponry and possibly, electricity.  It is already close to producing a nuclear bomb, reports the Economist, February 1st, 2025, p. 37.

My opinion.

Leaving the ECOWS: (Military) Alliance of Sahel States: Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger

I think some of those who left are rich in minerals, too.  These Sahel States are believed to be in conflict with jihadists of the area.  But many believe they are opportunists, as they may be seeking Russian assistance in their plight.

There's a constant review in Congress exercising its oversight of the Executive Branch of the US budget.

The Republicans question, "Do we need the Department of Education?"  So Congress holds hearings that lay bare their concerns regarding the functionality of that administrative Department--on a continuing basis.  (Incidentally, the hearings with the confrontation of Congress, representing their constituents regarding concerns about certain line items appearing in the budget are usually open, even carried on CSPAN.)

I listen to a lot of these discussions where Congress probes the budgetary items on both TV and radio on certain debatable items.

To my mind, Congress duly does its oversight job of budget examination of the administrative arm of  federal government.

So,  I don't buy the implied idea that we need an outside Doge Committee that virtually sweeps away the approved budget, which was constructed and in review by Congress on a daily basis through its multitudinous committees in both the House and Senate.

My opinion.

A government whose country is undergoing deregulation of some industry requires a dedicated leader: ambitious and determined.

But then, there's an interested response--a leader who emerges to defend workers' interests and the public good, wherever both are tread upon, making the sake of consumer wants and business investments paramount.

And generally, the process of deregulating offers a balance when both business leadership can be assertive so that society progresses; and worker wellbeing is accomplished and public concerns are satisfied as signs of acceptance.  The new business is welcomed.

Through business transactions.

My opinion, I think!

Where mothers and fathers work, the twosome may, more often than in times before, consider resorting to female surrogates.

A wife who breeds naturally, in US situations on the average has 1.7 children, is 27.4 when she has a firstborn.

By then, both husband and wife are likely to be more financially on their feet and can more likely to find they are capable of being afford the costs of raising a family.

Note that adoption is becoming less talked about as an alternative to a surrogate.

Singapore of Asia shows how to use cables for network-sharing of electricity.

The Economist January 25, 2025, pp. 47 ff summarizes how through the use of oceanic cables it is able to share electricity--tapping others' power grids: giving from  it in periods of overflow; taking from its neighbors when in under capacity.

As the magazine cites, there are several such interlocking cable-linked  networks: the EU with England included power share with 6 EU countries; in Africa between Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia; Bangladesh through India to tap Nepal's grid; and sharing among Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, and Laos.

Other cable linkages are postulated by the magazine's editors: India and Pakistan; Japan and South Korea; the grids in US with Mexico. Investors are encouraged, despite fears of some country to reduce a resource it has reason to hold onto.

The Zelensky people want to end the war; President Trump is confident he can resolve the conflict; but where are the Russian peace contingency?

Plainly, not meeting with their counterparts, so named.

And, the war goes on.

+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

An idea:

How about if leaflets were dropped on some major cities in Russia, e.g., as done in WWII, to wake up the Kremlin that the war should be over?

The rebel group HTS is seemingly content that their leader into Damascus, Mr. Sharaa, be declared interim president of Syria.

Meantime, HTS Sharaa's aides contacted most of Turkey's Presidential Proxy Groups in Syria to bring them into a national Syrian army being formed.

Even as Mr. Sharaa moved toward national unity, Syrians from abroad were returning home.  Then too, he, a former al-Qaeda warlord, seems to have garnered tacit support from neighboring countries.  A delegation from Qatar were to meet with him; and plans were in the works to schedule time with the Saudis.

He is looking for support from primarily the Muslim world for rebuilding the country, a similar quest for the PLO in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, the conservative faction in Israel is also eyeing Palestinian lands for their own selves-- uttering, "Let the Palestinians go to Egypt, Jordan; and let them permanently live in the Negev Desert!"

Dick Cheney's nation-building scheme has worked in Iraq, I would say; almost in Afghanistan!

If Trump gets a chance, maybe nation-building will ultimately work in Gaza!

To build a nation, takes a lot of time; and clearly, the fact that drugs were being cultivated in the farmer fields of Afghanistan turned many Americans off from financially supporting the Kabul government any further.

But Iraq appears to have done better.

The point is, the United States needs to plan the nation-building project as it learns from each existential project undertaken.

My opinion.

P.S. Be it noted that Russia had backed out from its project in Afghanistan years before Biden's hasty pull-out.

Now to make nuclear fusion commercially viable!

From the projections I read, nuclear fusion won't become commercially viable until 2060.  But it looks like nuclear fusion was generated in experimentation at the Lawrence Livermore Lab, California, 2022, and now in Chinese experiments.

First, thanks for helping me to keep up-to-date.  Second, now to pursue the prize that makes the long path to success worth it--make the electricity created placed in an electrical grid.  Good show!

Good news is sometimes hard to find.  WOW!

My opinion.

The FBI will soon have its own world headquarters in Maryland.

It has done much good to earn acceptance as a top crime agency worldwide.  In my opinion, it can readily pack up and make its headquarters anywhere in the world, because it is so highly respected.

I have dealt with them for several years now;  and I've been so amazed by their professional and technical reputation; and what is more, by their allegiance to this country's democratic values.

As a worldwide organization, the director has various responsibilities and duties to both here and abroad.  It, for example, is doing much in Mexico to bring the cartels to justice; and, can do much more because they are entrusted and productive as a cohesive, dedicated group.

I am very satisfied that they are living up to their reputation culling recommendations of impressive respect among nations of the world, but that they feel no need to find another country to house their administration.

My opinion.

Brookings Institution over CSPAN: "Review of America" from Enterprise Institution

I've been watching this presentation and found it to gloss over an important finding:  only 1/3 of those who responded to the questionnaire associated with the item favorably, such that they are democrats.

Now, the issue becomes how to improve the favorable response math, it seems to me.  You will note that the project in UK known as Brexit has recently been concluded.  I believe that one of the essential reasons that the UK has become prominently so distinguished is that it has its own group of nations namely, the Commonwealth of Nations, each of whom declares itself a practitioner of democratic principles.  The US, I note, has no such institution that identifies democracies, to my knowledge.

President Biden devoted his Presidency to promoting democracy in  the world, certainly in the nation.  Possibly, he understood, as do I, that those of us enjoying the benefits of democracy should sponsorship of  the concept, among especially among those countries that are non-democratic.  It is needed in instances where countries that might, or are considering becoming, a democracy work with some democracy as a mentor, e.g., one those members of the UK Commonwealth, so as their success in making the transition will be true.

My opinion.

Musk, with his spaceships, should be able to figure out where to dump nuclear garbage into space.

If indeed, they're right that nuclear should be commercial by 2060, that should give space exploration to find a suitable place to dump fusion or fission waste into space.

In any event, slowing down on wind source may provide enough funding for getting research into planetary locations far out into space for many purposes!  A whole host of uses to us inhabitants on earth!

God bless.  We are already told energy for electricity through space and wind won't be enough for the huge demands that will be made, soon.  Some use for nuclear must be available, preferably fusion.

Research shows less than 1 percent of US males live till 88 yeas of age! That's includes me!

Just about--I'm 87 and one half.  And doing well.

That's why I'd like to bring her into the limelight--maybe as soon as tomorrow, start it going..  She emphasizes old people to be, independent and makes me to be as independent as I can.  It works!

For the good of the nation.

I watched a Senate hearing on implementing decided upon innovation through the request for proposals securement of new weaponry.

I've had to refrain from debate once a decision has been made to pursue purchase or take a certain course of action rather than another course of action.

What then happens is that the competitors whose proposal was turned down (at least in some significant way) then becomes an opponent, tying up the decision course of action in continued debate.

My way of handling that junction where competitors keep up the diatribe is to bring the losers to the "rfp" onto the design team to make changes and alterations of the accepted winner of the contract, so experience and know-how is not turned aside from the accepted proposal's team but becomes a source of improving on what has been adopted for development.  Who knows?--a lot of another's proposal (that wasn't adopted) might become incorporated into what was announced as the "winner!"

You get what I mean?  I'm suggesting that winning a contract through the "rfp" method is just a step in developing an innovation that becomes widely accepted because the input never stops, even by the competitors who didn't get the "rfp" go-ahead.  And there are ways to provide remuneration for their continued effort in the direction given by who won the "rfp."

The idea is to use every ounce of creativity you can get surrounding the event soliciting interest in getting the needed change done--with everybody interested being listened to and contributing (and recognized for their contributions).

My opinion.

My health aide is an expert at making political connections work for me.

She's one in a million and I WANT TO LIVE.

My thankful self.

NO long-range to Ukrainian-Russian war now. Let conditions fester!

The Russian people and the Ukrainians both want the war to end--at least for a time.

Stress that any cease-fire is only a reprieve.

What I see might work is this:

1.  Russia gets Crimea that it has control of since 2014.  That's the reason the peace is only for a time.

2.  Russia takes for awhile Donetsk, which it already has.

There is nothing that Putin would give or is needed for a cease-fire.  On his own, Zelensky could pose and start the cease-fire, for as many times it takes to take hold to people satisfaction.

Go to it; President Zelensky.  Show that your a man of peace; and you're dealing with a snake-charmer!

(Apply the story in the Bible: Abraham is willing to do what God says, even to take the life of his son on an altar--up to a point.)

My opinion.  '

P.S. I think the Russian people will get the message that Putin is holding them hostage!

To move military troops readily, I support a new canal in our hemisphere, one not given to blockage of passage through the locks.

I think the position of the US is such that it could make good use of another canal, in addition to alternate use of the Panama Canal.

Of course, there would have to be a naming ceremony for the newly proposed canal; and our current President has the idea in mind, I think.

Just a suggestion; and my opinion after having been at the Panama Canal, some years ago!

My health aide also functions as my personal trainer to keep me active!

She comes from Africa, and doesn't know how to function smoothly as a citizen here.

She just incurred an emergency in her apartment with children that her apartment lost heat.  Temporarily, I gave her my space heater that my property management loaned to me to use whenever, which is occasionally, my unit in my room (attached to the wall) goes out.

Well, she saw it and wanted to take it to solve her immediate problem, but I didn't realize she thought it was mine; and given her disparate state of mind, I told her to take it.  I also said to bring it back, but evidently she did catch my drift!  They don't do that in Africa.

So, now I'm in hot water with my wonderful SOME management.

My solution is to try to get someone from her country or someone from the health care agency that I got her from.  I'm 87 and I am so thankful she knows how to function as a personal trainer too, because I function pretty well on the buses, stores, etc.  Let the agency explain to her to go to her property manager and make a complaint--no heat.

Meantime, since I've been living here over 7 years doing things as a volunteer for the government, I thought I would contribute to SOME's paying for a new space heater ($200), just in case- the health aide doesn't return the space heater I loaned her that belongs to the SOME building I live in.  And besides, the space heater I loaned her under emergency conditions has become well used through the years.

What do you think?  I want to retain my health aide who helps me adjust to old age living actively--doing normal, everyday things.  And I want to thank SOME for allowing me to live in their property so well adjusting to old  age.
