GPS on CNN: "There's no written Constitution for Israel"

And so theorists say they can explicate "reasonableness" without one?

The plain fact is there's no stopping the extremists who want Israel only for radical Jews occupying the West Bank short of a Constitution or a vote for some explication of the principle of "reasonableness."  Short of something in writing, agreed upon by Israelis, there will be a constant barrage of armaments circling overhead in the region--likely.

Who said Israel is not for those who want to live there--peacefully.  Its founders?  Israel is not only for Jewish extremists!  I don't think so.

My opinion.

Attempts to break the Black Sea corridor blockade by Russia!

 A suggestion.

Given that Russia is blockading and entertaining African representatives in Moscow, I think breaking the blockade with those little speed boats is in order.

Not to mention how they might try rattling NATO countries especially Poland with border problems.

Just a suggestion.  My opinion.

Where are the Russian grains going? See the Moscow African Pow-Wow!

It is obvious: Russia and China are trying to take over Africa!--and their mines.

My opinion.

Age-old question: Just because a corporation is big, ought anti-trust laws be applied to whittle down its size?

I am reminded how Rockefeller expanded his railroads into interstate locations.

It's not the size, but the service it provides because of its size that's important, when the public is provided a convenience in transportation not available to small railroads: going from destinations thousand of miles apart.

And now there's Amtrak.

My opinion.

Tigray, Ethiopia atrocities not referred to a criminal court for justice?

The Economist July 15th issue, p.36, notes that evidence is likely to be destroyed as mass graves are being dug to dispose of bodies.

The central government has tried to monitor reports of heinous crimes during the war in Tigray since the inception of conflict.

My impression.

China turning to food production in greenhouses.

Growth is controlled through temperature and humidity settings; and fertilizer and water more efficiently distributed.  It is thought that 40% of the vegetables could be grown that way.

Livestock is going inside, too.  A climate change precaution.

Japan serves the undersea cables for the internet across Asia but caught in the interplay between US and China

They're both at controlling digital data that the other cannot access.  It will smooth itself out in time.

Meanwhile, Asia is on the fast track for growth, including the China South Sea area.  See Economist, July 15th issue, 2023, pp. 27 ff.

My opinion.

President Lulu of Brazil to handle the going green project and the re-forestration of the Amazon

Despite the large reserves of oil discovered in Brazil and Guyana, President Lulu has been brought back to assure a transition to green energy sources, away from oil.  They're also concerned about keeping the Amazon forested.

But the lure to stay with carbon sources may be too great for the Brazilian industries, even should they bury the carbon residue.

My concern.

Russia may be using the Wagner Group to prod the military of the 4 countries that have recently had military takeovers, including Niger.

The Niger government was an easy target for a military coup, apparently.

PBS just reported that General Tchiani will probably align himself with 3 other military leaders in the region that have control of their individual governments.  He seemed to raise the issue of whether the allies of both France and the USA knew how to handle these jihadists intruders.  This general probably believes himself more knowledgeable of how to deal with African-style jihadists in Niger than those from advanced nations!  That was the attitude seemingly displayed by this new head of Niger.

I pass on my observation from his talk.

My opinion.

Historic moment: The US is cooperating with the ICC court in the round-up of war criminals against humanity.

If the United States gives the ICC support in this regard, the world will change dramatically, I believe.

Truly, a historic moment in the history of mankind, preceded by the Kosovo start.  And of course, the post-WWII Nuremburg trials.

"The taming of the Shrew."

My opinion.

Effective campaign by the West to altert the world of climate change.

The Advanced nations have earned the right to call themselves advanced.

It's been marvelous to watch on TV the many advances that have occurred.  And the US military doing outstanding to combat the effects of Al-Qaeda in the Muslim world.  Impressive.

And of course, President Biden.  "The man of the hour."

As for me, can I please have my Health Aide?

Political scientists sorely needed in Israel: to help establish a Constitution for Jews of Israel to adopt.

It's not to late to write a Constitution for the state of Israel.  Offhand, the principle of "reasonableness" itself is something in need of explication.

My opinion.

Mr. Netanyahu is recuperating from heart procedures; it's time for him to rest.

I think the Prime Minister of Israel is in no physical condition to cope with the passing historic legislation through the Knesset and dealing with the repercussions of attempting to relieve the Defense Minister Gallant of his position, a job he has faithfully filled until he objected to the new legislation that scraps the power of the courts over the Israeli administration.

Meantime, the Hezbollah of Lebanon are conducting talks of fighting back over the Israeli "house keeping" of the Palestinian areas in the South Bank with the Muslim Hamas, which controls the Palestinian region in Gaza.  This is certainly a time for Israel to be posed in strong military posture for reasons of security of the land.

There can be another time that the issue of court vs. Knesset over the reasonableness standard can be decided, after Prime Minister Netanyahu has recovered from his medical treatments.

Interesting, the Likud party is divided whether to pursue the issue at this time.

Where is the former Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff Martin Dempsey these days?

I found him to be an illustrious and bold leader in the right position for him.

Anyway, the Ukrainians are starting their offensive; and I feel they need a strong "bang" aggressive gimmick.  Any ideas?

I hope our country hasn't missed out on your outstanding, aggressive "stand-'em' upside-down dynamics you provide to military tactics!

I'd thought I'd say hello.

Published research into working at home have cited professional disadvantages to the practice.

Or again, there's advantage to working around other professionals.  You develop a reputation as to what skills you are good at.  Getting in line for a promotion or looking for another position elsewhere, you need that resume; and many times, the resume is carried word-of-mouth.

The Economist mentions studies that even go so far as to claim working at home is less productive.  (See July 1st issue, p. 61)

My opinion.

Russia's been able to find new buyers of its oil excluding lost European sales.

By selling at bargain prices and doing shipping swaps at sea, transferring the cargo while at sea, Russia has suffered no great loss in losing European customers.

The Economist estimates Russia still sells about 15% of the worldwide diesel market.  Discounts go to the Latin American countries, particularly, Brazil, and the African countries, including Egypt.  Turkey adds to the oil it refines by buying Russian.  (July 1st issue, p, 60)

FYI

Amid a youth population of 500 million, Prime Minister's allocation for education is under 5% of the overall budget.

The Economist July 1st issue complains the amount for education is sorely lacking, given the number of kids Indian families are raising (p. 11).

On tests, Indian kids are not learning the essentials of a basic education----reading, writing and arithmetic!

The magazine points out, kids in Vietnam are doing so much better!

China, Asian countries, India, South Africa--they all must phase out the coal-powered industry by 2050.

To meet the 2050 deadline for going to greenhouse energy sources, the Economist contends the nations largely dependent on coal (including those mentioned already) will need loans and grants up to 2030 so as to phase out coal by 2050 (July 1st issue, p. 55).

At the recent Paris meeting, it was thought that the World Bank should offer loans at rates usually for the poorest countries to middle-income countries to meet the 2050 date of phase-out. .Low-income countries, many in need now of debt relief, may not be able to make the transition to green energy, given their financial condition now. Indeed, several countries represented at the Paris meeting called by President Macron contend the pressing issue is not that of debt relief but of climate change.  Somehow, the poorest of countries must be dragged along to make the transition from coal and other carbon products.

It would seem, in sum, that climate change is becoming the major one facing countries concerned to save the planet for human habitation.

My opinion.

Morning Joe MSNBC reporting, so far a recession has been averted as Fed. Reserve continues to check inflation!

Extraordinary, inflation is being successfully checked while not leading the country into a recession, which might have taken more than a year to rise up from.

Consumers, citizens are feeling good about living in the USA.

Morning Joe recommends we give the Biden Administration some of the credit.

My gist of the comments on the program this morning.

I know the tribunal in Kosovo.

I urged, among many others, that the International Criminal Tribunal for Yugoslavia (ICTY) handle the trial of Milosevic, who was held at the Hague in the 1990s until his death in 2006 (I think).  I was involved in aspects of that war with the Serbians that was bringing Milosevic to justice.

I would think it's time, given that President Biden announced today, essentially, Russia has lost its attempt to absorb Ukraine.  This was a very startling move on the President's part, but it gave me pause to think that now it's time to ready an international tribunal to become better known in the news, so that it will be able to supervise the capture of likely war criminals during the Ukrainian invasion, identified in the days to come.

I'm thinking of the International Criminal Court at the Hague, Netherlands because of its historic record over the years since WWII.  I believe it is essential for the world to adopt the practice of locating and bringing to justice those who in war commit heinous crimes against humanity.  Publicizing widely the criminal court procedures would be yet another step toward a peace that lasts!  It's the opportune time for the concept to reach the peoples of the world, including within Russia.

My opinion.

Reports are coming from all over the world, including Europe!

Historians of the NATO organization are telling me what these reactions to the Lithuanian meeting are justified:  a truly memorable NATO meeting and a lot accomplished--both evaluations!

We're making history--on behalf of the United States and its principles including the rule of law.

WOW!  It may be to advantage to get the nations, so obstreperous individually now, together in formation of a united front--some several--forming an alliance to perpetuate that feeling of countries in a common cause, each standing for important moral principles of humanitarianism, united as a powerful entity for the common good.

My opinion.
